According to the invention, the magazine can be attached to the tool (7) by means of guide devices (23, 24) which, at least in their part which determines the last part of the attaching movement, are designed such that the outlet opening of the magazine approaches the insertion opening (16) of the tool (7) approximately in the predetermined direction.

The lifting and presenting claw mechanism and a binding and lashing mechanism are both carried by a robot arm closely spaced to each other for cooperation. Both devices can be operated in response to a computer program control. Due to the lifting and presenting of the bundle, the binding can be performed automatically without the need for any spacers between the nail board and the conductor bundle.

    Abstract: In the method for connecting at least two rods, wherein a binding apparatus, which is provided with a rotatable hook member, seizes a wire loop, which extends around the rods, and twists the loop during a pulling movement. The wire clamp or clip which has leg portion ends provided with locking means is brought around the rods to be connected in such a manner that, when viewed from the hook member the locking means are brought into engagement with each other behind the rods, and the closed wire clamp in front of the rods is seized by the hook member of the binding apparatus and twisted.The device required for this purpose includes a binding apparatus which has a slide member connected to a displaceable gripping member for the forward advancement of the wire clamp and closing jaws which are adapted to bring the locking members on the wire clamp into engagement behind the rods to be connected.

    Abstract: A gun for applying cable ties includes a pinch wheel for acting on the flat tail of the tie to drive the tie from the gun, the tie being guided (as it is advanced, tail-first) around a nose loop guide. The tie finishes with its head engaged with a threader which is then lifted to lift the tie head and thus cause the tail to pass through the head aperture, become interlocked therein and project from the lower side of the head. Then the threader is lowered to lower the head and engage the projecting end of the tail with a pinch wheel which serves to tension the tie. The ties are fed from a bandolier of side-by-side ties in which they are interconnected at their heads and tail tips by continuous strips running along the edges of the bandolier, successive ties being cut from the bandolier while leaving the two strips intact.

Disposed adjacent the lower end of the tool is a pair of jaws which are normally open to introduce the structural members into a hole defined by the jaws when closed. The tool is fully automatic and a sequence of binding events is started by depressing a trigger which is disposed adjacent the upper end of the tool. The binding sequence is completed in a few seconds which, of course, enables the workman to accomplish considerably more work than normal.
