Publication number: 20100218844Abstract: In a method and apparatus for changeover of containers of a highly soluble substance in a continuous flow process, fluid is flowed through a container of the substance to generate a solution until the substance is depleted and the concentration of the solution starts to drop. The solution from the first container is then directed through a second container containing a charge of the substance to maintain a saturated solution. When the first container is fully exhausted, the flow of fluid is switched to isolate the first container and to flow the fluid directly into the second container whereupon the first container can be safely removed. The arrangement is operated as a lead lag system with solution flowing through the containers at or close to plug flow to minimize mixing.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 2, 2010Publication date: September 2, 2010Inventors: Ian Tyler Bell, Steven Lloyd Siverns

Publication number: 20090159594Abstract: This invention relates to a telescope tap to be used for the tapping of liquid from a bag-in-box where a bag containing the liquid and equipped with a spout is placed inside a box. The telescope tap comprises a base member which engages with the spout and with the box wall, a telescope pipe placed sliding extractable in the base member, a handle to extract the telescope pipe from inside the box, a knob for opening and closing the outlet in the telescope pipe, and a gap around a part of the telescope tap for slidably receiving the box wall when sliding the telescope tap into the box. The invention furthermore concerns a method of filling a bag-in-box with a fluid, where a bag with a spout is filled with a fluid, a telescope tap is placed in the spout thereby closing the bag, a cut is made in the box, and the bag then is slid into the box with the tap fitting the cut in the box.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 30, 2007Publication date: June 25, 2009Inventors: Lau Nielsen, Erik Dige

Publication number: 20090120811Abstract: An apparatus for storage and liberation of compressed hydrogen or other gases is provided. The apparatus includes a housing defining a chamber that includes a cartridge comprising an array of hollow microcylinders defining cavities for storage compressed gas. Each microcylinder has at least one end sealed with a plug made of an easily meltable alloy. The apparatus also includes a gas liberating tool configured for controllable liberating the gas from the cartridge into the chamber; and a control system operatively coupled to the discharge valve and liberating tool, and configured for controlling operation thereof. According to another aspect of the invention, there are provided a system and method for filling a cartridge having an array of hollow microcylinders having open ends. The filling includes placing the cartridge into a chamber of an autoclave, and compressing the gas in the chamber, thereby providing permeation of the gas through the open ends into cavities of the microcylinders.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 22, 2008Publication date: May 14, 2009Applicants: C. Publication number: 20090107577Abstract: The inventive method for filling a pressure gas container from a gas source pressure with a high pressure for a predetermined filling time selected or calculated prior to filling and at a determined temperature consists in forming a connection in the form of a fluid passage between the source and container, in carrying out a plurality of the passage opening-closing sequences during predetermined sub-intervals of the predetermined filling time, wherein the curve of a current pressure in the container follows, according to a time, a theoretical straight line linking the pressure measured prior to filling and after thereof during the filling time, the predetermined filling time is subdivided into a number of the time sub-intervals ranging from two to several hundreds and having respective determined duration, preferably ranging from 5 and 20 seconds.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 13, 2006Publication date: April 30, 2009Applicant: L'Air Liquide Societe Anonyme Pour L'Etude Et L'Exploitation Des Procedes Georges ClaudeInventors: Laurent Allidieres, Jaya-Sitra Pregassame, Thomas Charbonneau

Patent number: 7523767Abstract: A bag-on-valve aerosol valve system in a container. Propellant is pressure filled around the valve stem, outwardly over the stem gasket and down into the container space outside the bag. Product is filled through the valve stem into the bag. The valve stem has an exterior intermediate frusto-conical annular surface and the valve housing has an interior frusto-conical annular surface, with both surfaces engaging in annular sealing contact to block propellant access to the bag when the valve stem is deeply depressed to a first predetermined position for propellant pressure filling. A stem exterior surface indent interacts with radially-biased spring-loaded slides to lock the stem in a second less depressed predetermined position for product filling through the stem down into the bag. The propellant and product may be pressure filled in either order using essentially conventional pressure filing equipment, after the valve is mounted on the container and the bag is mounted on the valve.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 2006Date of Patent: April 28, 2009Assignee: Precision Valve CorporationInventor: Louis Pericard
