Automatic Control Of Flow Cutoff Or Diversion Patents (Class 141/192)
  • Patent number: 4230161
Abstract: Multi position flow check valves for both liquid and vapor filler conduits having essentially two positions, a closed position, and a wide open flow position to activate the latch, the valve being automatically closed from the flow position under hazardous conditions including equipment accidents and fires, and open only when manually opened for latching purpose in tank filling operations at bulk storage stations. One hazardous condition includes an appreciable stretch strain exerted on filler hoses connected between the storage supply tank and the mobile delivery tank sufficient when dangerous to close the valves and prevent serious escape of gases in event of hose rupture. Non-extendible elements providing the differential criteria also serve as remote shut-off controls, including manual, automatic and thermal for safety termination of a refilling operation.

  • Patent number: 4175596
Abstract: The present invention is a stop device to be used in automatic feeding systems consisting of a number of feed dispensers placed in succession and combined with a pipe-shaped transport string (conveyor tube) in which the feed is conveyed by an endless feed mechanism, e.g. a scraper chain or a steel wire with scraping units, so that the feed dispensers are filled successively. The stop unit is mainly placed after the last feed dispenser.

  • Patent number: 4098303
Abstract: A vapor recovery system for closed volatile liquid storage facilities including loading rack systems for tank trucks, rail cars, ship and barge cargo compartments. These facilities have provision for charging the system with blanketing gas under controlled pressure conditions for admixture with vapor of the volatile liquid. This mixture is processed for recovery of the vapor and gas constituents under the supervision and control of precision oxygen monitoring. Whenever the detected percentage of oxygen exceeds a predetermined safe value, corrective measures are taken immediately and automatically and acknowledging devices are activated and additional blanketing gas may be supplied to decrease the percentage of oxygen in the facility. Vapor and gas mixtures monitored and found safely non-combustible are processed by compression and heat exchange to condense some of the vapor and to elevate the pressure level.

  • Patent number: 4096893
Abstract: A system for the reconstitution of a food and beverage concentrate comprising combined knife and nozzle means selectively movable between a retracted position and an extended position, in which latter position the combined knife and nozzle means pierces the removable lid of a container of concentrate and is operative automatically to inject a predetermined amount of heated water into the container to reconstitute the concentrate. Upon movement to retracted position means is automatically operative to rinse the combined knife and nozzle means.

  • Patent number: 4074734
Abstract: A system is provided for delivering any of two or more liquids from their respective storage tanks into a tank truck or the like while avoiding contamination of the liquid being delivered with any significant amount of a previously delivered liquid. Means are provided for collecting vapor from the tank truck and for minimizing evaporation losses of the liquid being delivered.

  • Patent number: 3943983
Abstract: A fraction collector or other electrically operated liquid-handling device has a tray underlying the device for collecting spilled liquid. A pitched surface in the tray gathers any spilled liquid into the vicinity of a sensor having a moisture-destructible or sensitive element which holds a switch against the force of a spring in a closed-circuit position, allowing power to be fed from a current source to the electrically operated device. Upon wetting and destruction of the element the spring is relieved to open the switch, thereby cutting off the power and stopping the operation of the liquid-handling device.
