  • Publication number: 20140366984
Abstract: An arrangement for filling watering cans (16), having a container (10) for receiving liquid, wherein the container is assigned a closable outlet and an in particular closable inlet. In this case, an effective cross section of the outlet may be larger than an effective cross section of the inlet.

  • Patent number: 8646495
Abstract: A fuel tank for vehicles has a filler tube and a filling level limiting device, with the filler tube comprising, in the interior of the fuel tank, a closing device which interacts with an actuating device which is composed of: a) a frame which is fastened in the interior of the fuel tank and which has a force store which actuates the closing device; b) a locking arrangement which holds the force store in the stressed state; c) a release mechanism which is operatively connected to a float; and d) a stressing mechanism for stressing the force store. The actuating device ensures that a flap closes precisely when a nominal filling level is reached, and does not open again even under intense fluctuation of the liquid level.

  • Patent number: 7757728
Abstract: A funnel with a shut-off valve terminates the flow of fluid from a reservoir to a spout passageway upon activation of the shut-off valve. The flow of fluid is terminated when a float contacts a seal mounted within the spout passageway. An upper magnet is mounted above the seal and a lower magnet is attached to the float, a portion of which extends over the lower magnet. In the open position, the force provided between the magnets serves to provide lift to the float. When the fluid level in the container rises, additional lift is provided until the lower magnet comes sufficiently within the range of the upper magnet causing the lower magnet to be drawn to the upper magnet. The force between the magnets is sufficient to provide compression of the seal by the float. A ball joint is provided between a control rod and the float to correct misalignment between the float and the seal.

  • Patent number: 6729368
Abstract: A shut off valve is provided for use in an aircraft lavatory system during maintenance sanitizing operations. The shut off valve includes an inlet passage in intermittent fluid communication with an outlet passage and a magnetic flapper body movable between a rest position and a seal position between said inlet passage and said outlet passage. The flapper body is moved by a magnetic actuator whereby upon placing said magnetic actuator within the proximity of the flapper body, the flapper body is moved from the rest position and, with the assistance of fluid flow within the valve, into the seal position, thus, preventing fluid communication between the inlet passage and the outlet passage.

  • Patent number: 6161329
Abstract: An improved watering device is provided for automatically watering one or more potted plants with a predetermined volume or quantity of water, in response to the weight of the potted plant which indicates the moisture content of the plant soil. The watering device comprises a plant carrier for movably suspending the potted plant from a hanger assembly, with a main spring reacting between the plant carrier and hanger assembly for controlling the vertical position of the plant carrier in response to the weight of the potted plant. Upon upward displacement of the carrier as the plant soil dries, an adjustably set and spring-loaded pin engages and operates a control member such as an electrical switch for opening a water flow valve to deliver water to the potted plant, whereupon the carrier translates downwardly as water is added to the plant soil ultimately to result in sufficient disengagement with the control member to close the water flow valve and halt water flow to the potted plant.

  • Patent number: 5848494
Abstract: A fluid control apparatus is for controlling water supply to a potted plant and has a main valve responsive to weight of the potted plant. The apparatus comprises a main body to support the load of the plant, a valve body adapted to be suspended from a support, and a resilient member cooperating with the main body and valve body to be responsive to load of the plant acting on the main body. A delivery conduit receives water under relatively low pressure and flow of the water is controlled by the main valve. The main valve has a first valve portion, e.g. a valve seat on the valve body, and a second valve portion, e.g. a poppet valve. A valve adjuster, a critical valve area, and water pressure determine actuation of the main valve. Preferably, the main valve closes when load acting on the apparatus is a pre-determined load reflecting weight of the fully watered plant, and as the plant becomes lighter, opening of the valve is delayed to ensure delivery of a relatively large amount of water.

  • Patent number: 5277233
Abstract: An overfill safety adapter is provide which is suitable for use on the outlet end of funnel like devices being used to transfer fluid from one container to another to prevent the overfill of the container and spilling of the fluid which includes an elongated frusto conical shaped housing member adapted to be releasably fitted within an opening of a container to be filled having a bore therethrough, the bore of the housing having a conically shaped upper portion adapted to be releasably mounted on an outlet end of a funnel or spout and a substantially cylindrically shaped lower discharge portion which slidably supports a float operably responsive to the level of fluid in a container; and a magnetically operative valve within the bore of the housing which magnetically co-acts with the float to close the flow of fluid through the bore responsive to the level of fluid in a container to be filled.

  • Patent number: 4712595
Abstract: A safety funnel to prevent overfilling of a container being filled. The safety funnel comprises a funnel having a float supported in the funnel spout adapted to close a valve in the funnel spout when the container fill level is reached. A ring magnet is connected to the spout to attract a metallic member attached to the float and guide rod assembly into a valve seating engagement and maintain this relationship when the container is filled. The guide rod is guided within plate-like strainers and has an upper portion extending into the funnel above the spout which may be operated to open the valve to drain excess fluid in the funnel. The entire assemblage is constructed within the spout in protected relation.
