With Means To Move Supply Means And/or Receiver To, From Or During Flow Relation Patents (Class 141/250)
  • Patent number: 6070621
Abstract: A method and apparatus for metering one or several constituents of flowable substances, especially of printing inks, has a store which contain a plurality of storage containers for different constituents. The storage containers each include outlet valves. At least one metering station is included to which the storage containers can be conveyed. An actuator is at the metering station to actuate the outlet valve. A conveyor is suitable to move the storage containers to the at least one metering station. It is proposed that the store is formed by a storage system for storing the storage containers. The conveyor is designed to take from and return to the storage system individual storage containers independently of one another. The conveyor has at least one track loop to which the at least one metering station is connected.

  • Patent number: 6035905
Abstract: A multi-compartment container is charged with a plurality of doses of powdered medicament so that the volume of each dose is than that of the respective compartments in which it is contained. A respective protuberance is inserted into each respective compartment, which is then filled with medicament and the protuberance is then removed. The container may take the form of an apertured plate, in which case the filling step can be achieved by placing the container on a porous bed and in communication with a reservoir of particulate material, and then passing gas through the reservoir, the apertures in the container and the bed. There is also shown apparatus for performing the method, the apparatus comprising a reservoir for the particulate material and a conduit for relaying particulate material from the reservoir to the compartments, the conduit including protuberances which are insertable into the compartments to reduce the available volume of the latter.

Abstract: Disclosed are a method and an apparatus for filling bottles with liquid to a predetermined fill height. A suction pipe is positioned relative to the bottle so that the pipe extends through the mouth of the bottle and the lower edge of the pipe is disposed at a fixed distance from the upper edge of the bottle and at a level slightly above the level of the predetermined fill height. Liquid is delivered by gravity into the bottle until the liquid level reaches the lower edge of the slightly elevated suction pipe. Then the suction pipe is lowered to the predetermined fill height and the supply of liquid is interrupted. The space above the liquid level in the bottle is connected with the outer atmosphere and excess liquid is drawn off by suction through the suction pipe until the liquid level in the bottle has dropped to the lower edge of the suction pipe.

  • Patent number: 4462436
Abstract: This disclosure illustrates and describes a filler valve assembly including a fluid pressure-activated upper control valve, a spring for urging the control valve closed, a fixed lower flow control valve, a nozzle slidably mounted in the lower end of the valve body, a second spring for normally urging the nozzle into a capillary seal relationship with the lower flow control valve, and spacer means extending between the nozzle and the upper control valve. Upon receiving a measured volume of fluid under pressure from an external source, the upper control valve is opened, causing the nozzle to move relative to the fixed lower flow control valve and thereby discharge a measured volume of fluid product into a container therebelow.

  • Patent number: 4419157
Abstract: A process and apparatus for filling multi-conductor cables, particularly a telecommunication cable with several insulated wires surrounded by a covering and a sheath, with a mixture of powders which expand with the absorption of moisture. The conductors are fed in spaced relation into the entrance of a casing having an interior, frusto-conical wall which decreases in diameter from its entrance to its exit. The exit is small in diameter compared to the entrance so that the conductors converge as they pass from the entrance to the exit. Intermediate the entrance and the exit, the conductors are subjected to the powders which are caused to follow a helicoidal course by a screw which directs them toward the exit. Due to the shape of the casing wall, the powders are forced toward the conductors.

  • Patent number: 4252583
Abstract: For powder filling of cables, in a fluidized powder bed, it has been proposed to pass the cable core through the bed in a substantially closed condition. There is a limit to the number of conductors a core can have for effective filling. In the present invention the cable core is opened up into a number of core units by passing through an opening member. The opening member is freely ridable on the cable core and has a hole for each unit. The opener is held against a support member and an air bearing formed between the two members. Air is also usually fed to the holes in the opener member through which the core units pass to prevent flow of powder out from the bed. The opening member can be positioned in the fluidized bed or outside immediately prior to passage of the cable core through the bed. The units are each in a substantially closed condition in the bed and the units close to a single core also in the bed.

  • Patent number: 4102368
Abstract: A device for sampling fluid is provided which comprises a plurality of sample vessels uniformly spaced apart in a circle and means for the alternate feeding of fluid into the individual sample vessels. A buffer vessel whose volume is at least three to five times greater than that of each individual sample vessel is connected upstream in series to the sample vessels. The sample vessels are U-shaped and have two substantially upright tubular arms which are joined together at their bottom ends. One arm is smaller in diameter and ends below the opening of the other arm or has a mouth or opening below the opening of the other arm. The means for feeding the fluid enter the thicker and higher arm of the sample vessels and are so built as to be able to empty the entire contents of the buffer vessel in the course of at most one to two minutes into the sample vessel.

  • Patent number: 4095627
Abstract: According to the invention, electrically conductive paths are formed between the coil armor and the core laminations of dynamoelectric machines for inhibiting corona. This is achieved by injecting an uncured, semiconducting, elastomeric material between the coil sides and slot walls through the use of an injector tool inserted between them, and thereafter curing the material. The uncured material has a viscosity which enables it to be forced under pressure into these spaces, and when cured it has a resistance high enough not to form eddy current paths between laminations and yet low enough to conduct charge from the coil armor to the core. It is also capable of retaining its strength, elasticity, conductivity, etc., and remaining in place between the coils and core under vibrations, coolant flow, electric stresses, repeated temperature changes, etc., for the normal operating life of the machine.

  • Patent number: 4015560
Abstract: Apparatus is provided for applying gasket-forming material to workpieces. The apparatus includes a supply of the gasket-forming material under pressure with a nozzle communicating with the material for directing the material to mateable surfaces of workpieces which are to be joined to mateable surfaces of other workpieces. Means are provided to move the nozzle over the mateable surfaces and to supply beads of the gasket-forming material thereto. The means include a track positioned in a predetermined location relative to the mateable surface, with means connected to the nozzle and the material supply and movable along the track to move the nozzle in the desired direction. When the connecting means makes one trip around the track, a complete bead of the gasket-forming material is applied to the mateable surface of the associated workpiece from the nozzle. Another workpiece is then moved into position and the bead-applying process is repeated.
