  • Patent number: 8973622
Abstract: Some embodiments disclosed herein related to a device for transferring precise amounts of fluid from at least one source container to a at least one target container. In some embodiments, the fluid is first transferred from the source container (e.g., a vial) through a connector to an intermediate measuring container (e.g., a syringe). In some embodiments air can pass through an air inlet and enter the vial to compensate for the volume of fluid withdrawn from the vial. An air check valve or a bag or a filter can prevent the fluid from escaping through the air inlet. The precisely measured amount of fluid can then be transferred from the intermediate measuring container to the target container (e.g., an IV bag). In some embodiments the connector can include a source check valve and a target check valve to direct fluid first from the source container to the intermediate measuring container and then from the intermediate measuring container to the target container.

Abstract: A drug solution transfer method includes step S1 of inserting a needle into a drug solution container through a rubber stopper and sucking drug solution in the drug solution container, step S2 of checking whether or not a solution collection inlet at a tip of the needle has shifted into the rubber stopper upon extracting the needle from the drug solution container, step S3 of pulling a plunger of a syringe provided with the needle so that an inside of the needle and an inner space of the syringe have negative pressure, and step S4 of relatively shifting the needle along with the syringe to be distant from the drug solution container so as to extract the solution collection inlet of the needle from the rubber stopper.

Abstract: A syringe-to-syringe mixing apparatus comprises first and second syringes adapted to be coupled at their respective outlets to fluidly connect the syringes. The first syringe includes a plunger having a hollow plunger barrel and a distal end defining a lumen therethrough. The lumen is initially closed by a septum, which in one embodiment is an elastomeric stopper mounted over the end of the plunger. The mixing apparatus further includes a third syringe slidably disposed within the plunger barrel. The third syringe includes a hollow needle adapted to pierce the septum to allow fluid from the third syringe to be injected into fluid within the coupled first and second syringes.

  • Patent number: 8627861
Abstract: A dispenser for holding multiple doses of fluids or other substances, and for dispensing the substances, has a vial, a flexible bladder received within the vial, and a variable volume storage chamber formed between the bladder and vial. A filling valve is coupled in fluid communication with the storage chamber and defines (1) a normally closed, fluid-tight position hermetically sealing the storage chamber from the ambient atmosphere, and (2) an open position allowing the passage of fluid through the valve both to evacuate the storage chamber and to introduce fluid through the valve to fill the storage chamber. A pump is coupled in fluid communication with the storage chamber for pumping fluids out of the storage chamber. A dispensing valve is coupled in fluid communication with the pump and defines (1) a normally closed, fluid-tight position preventing the passage of fluid out of the dispenser, and (2) an open position for dispensing pumped fluid therethrough.

Abstract: A medicine mixing device includes a pedestal, a main rotating-base, a sub rotating-base, and a control unit. The pedestal is used to place medicine containers thereon. The main rotating-base includes a holding portion and a main rotating shaft, and rotates around the main rotating shaft. The holding portion holds a syringe for sucking a medicine at its center on its vertical plane. The main rotating shaft is orthogonal to the vertical plane. The sub rotating-base is disposed close to a part of the circumference of the main-rotating base and rotates relatively with respect to the main rotating-base. The sub rotating-base includes a fixing unit and a sub rotating shaft parallel to the main rotating shaft. The fixing unit fixes thereto one medicine container selected from the medicine containers on the pedestal. The control unit controls a medicine to be sucked out of the medicine container into the syringe.

Abstract: A syringe for holding fluids susceptible to void formation when frozen and thawed before use. The interior surface of the syringe sidewall may be roughened, which serves to prevent or significantly reduce the incidence of void formation in the fluid. The required level of surface roughening for counteracting void formation may be reduced by increasing the sidewall flexibility. Alternatively, the flexibility of the syringe sidewall may operate over certain thickness ranges to prevent or significantly reduce void formation in the fluid without intentionally roughening the interior surface.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a container system for liquids such as spray fragrances. The system includes a parent container (110) and a child container (120). The parent container provides a first cavity (113) for confining a liquid, and couples detachably to the child container for refilling the child container through a supply opening (111) in the parent container, so that the child container can be used for instance as a travel pack in a handbag or hand luggage. Here the child container is a compact dispenser, comprising a bowl-shaped rigid container (221) having a refill opening (222), which is kept closed by a valve unless the dispenser is connected to a supply container, and a dispense opening (224). These openings are located with a spacing from each other, and a pump (225) dispenses liquid from the dispense opening (224).

  • Patent number: 8522832
