  • Patent number: 6585018
Abstract: First and second guide plates are engaged for linear sliding between them by a channel and rib engagement system. A grooving tool is carried by the plate associated with the rib, and the rib is in axial alignment with the tool head, such that the tool head can lead the rib. When a groove is being cut into a workpiece, the rib can follow the tool head into the cut groove to extend the range of the guide. Ribs of different size can be selected to coordinate with the tool and groove width. Filler strips similarly coordinate the channel width. An alternate or supplemental guide system joins the first plate to a series of accordion style hinged and foldable plates. • Patent number: 6305447
Abstract: A base plate for mounting a router in a support table provides a plate configured to fit in an orifice, having an inwardly extending ledge thereabout, defined in the support table with the router supported by the base plate to depend therefrom. The base plate defines a medial orifice for passage of the router shaft through the orifice for operative positioning of a cutter carried on the router shaft above the base plate. The base plate medial orifice releasably carries plural annular inserts to cover space between the router shaft and the support plate portion defining the medial orifice. Plural adjustment screws are carried in threaded engagement in the ledge of the support surface orifice for vertical motion to adjustably move adjacent portions of the base plate periphery upwardly from the ledge to create a coplanar relationship of adjacent portions of the base plate and support table.

  • Patent number: 6223794
Abstract: A woodworking station is provided, in which cutting heads and cutting bits, e.g. routers, small-bodied rotary tools, plunge routers, and others, are either permanently or interchangeably positioned with respect to a tiltable and rotatable cutting table, such that the operator's hands are free to manipulate the wood being worked. The cutting heads can be raised and lowered by hand controls, or by a foot-controlled electric motor. Self-contained blowers are also included, providing for continuous and simultaneous sawdust removal. Directional lighting is also provided which directs light primarily to the cutting table and away from the operator's face.

  • Patent number: 6206060
Abstract: The present invention is a jig system for precisely positioning the placement of multiple cuts such as in the placement of dovetail or box joints cut in a wood panel. A row of multi-use adjustable spacers controls the indexing of a workpiece and can be used with a stationary and/or a portable cutting tool. The movability of the spacers permits a workpiece to be cut on both sides of a guide bar fence thereby assuring that the first cut will always be made on the same side of a drawer and will be esthetically pleasing regardless of the width of the workpiece. Additionally, the adjustability of the spacers accommodates any desired cutting tool height, angle and/or size.

  • Patent number: 6203255
Abstract: A router guide apparatus for use in forming rosette designs in a work piece includes a frame having a work surface with a wheel rotatably mounted upon the work surface. The wheel has a plurality of position stops. The rosette design can be formed in a synthetic material (eg. Corian®) and filled with a filler or glue or settable material of a different color to form an inlaid design. The frame includes an adjustable guide for holding and a tracking a router with a cutting blade. The frame includes stops for limiting movement of the router during use. The guide and stops are configured to enable the cutting blade to cut two petals of a rosette design in a single pass. Inserts (fence blocks and/or router filler blocks) can be added to vary the position tracked by the router. The wheel is affixable into multiple angular positions relative to the guide so that multiple cuts can be made at different angular orientations relative to one another.

  • Patent number: 6182723
Abstract: Improvements made to a router a relate to a switchable router brake system. The switchable brake system permits a motor brake to be selectably engaged to operate when the router motor is turned off. When engaged, the motor brake, which comprises a brake resistor being placed electrically across the motor windings, causes the router motor to stop rotating almost immediately. This feature, however, is not always desired; the switchable brake system permits the operator to engage the use of the brake only when desired, thus providing the option to selectively eliminate jerking caused electric brake torque induced in the router when the brake engages.
