  • Patent number: 11353380
Abstract: An apparatus and method for faster pathology are provided that removes the need for time consuming preparation of a hardened tissue block. Such hardening is necessary to enable cutting of the thin tissue sections required for pathology evaluation. Rather the tissue specimen is hardened by freezing only at the surface from which tissue is to be sectioned by contact with a cold surface or slide thereby lessening the time required for hardening. Sectioning is performed by passing a cutting device such as a blade, cutting wire or laser beam along a plane parallel to the cold surface and using the cold surface as a guide.

Abstract: A cutting assembly includes a knife assembly having a knife holder and a knife blade, a counter knife, and a scoring tip holder. In one arrangement, the counter knife is secured to a ring strander drum, the knife holder and scoring tip holder are carried by a clamping element, and knife blade is disposed between the counter knife and the knife holder. In a closed position, the clamping element causes the knife and scoring tip holders to generate a compressive force against the counter knife, thereby securing the knife blade within the cutting assembly. • Patent number: 7441571
Abstract: A conical chipper/canter head. The head includes, at least, one or more chipping knives. Each chipping knife provides at least one pair of linear cutting edges including a face cutting edge and a chip cutting edge angled with respect to each other. The face cutting edge defines a planar, face cutting surface of revolution of the cutting head, and the chip cutting edge defines a conical, chip cutting surface of revolution of the cutting head. The face and chip cutting edges of the same chipping knife lie in substantially the same plane. A cutting head may include a plurality of facing knives and corresponding clamping members in addition to one or more chipping knives. The facing knives and corresponding clamping members are adapted so that each of the facing knives is removable from the cutting head without removing any other facing knives.

Abstract: A disc cutting apparatus for chipping wood chips from a log includes a chipper frame, a rotary cutting disc having a plurality of substantially radially disposed knife assemblies in relation to a proximal facing side of the disc and a feed spout into which a log is fed into the chipper apparatus. The apparatus further includes a bedknife, the bedknife having a first surface and an opposing second surface that is nonparallel to the first surface such that a wedge is produced between the first surface and the second surface for fitting within a corresponding nonparallel gap in the chipper frame. The bedknife further includes at least one secondary trimming edge for more complete reduction of wood chipped and for reducing the size of slivers formed.

Abstract: The invention relates to an intermediate product, a method for processing the intermediate product and a wood chipping device for processing the intermediate product. The intermediate product is substantially rod shaped and is sized in a range that includes between one and two times as oriented strand (OS) chips. The intermediate product is fed to a wood chipping device. The wood chipping device has a number of blades. The number of blades each have a number of cutting edges that run parallel to a blade ring axis, and which enclose a working chamber. The intermediate product is rotated about the blade ring axis and is aligned in such a way that it lies substantially parallel to the blade ring axis and is pressed by centrifugal force against the cutting edges.

Abstract: An apparatus and a tool for chipping material are provided. The apparatus includes chipping tools arranged relative to one another inside a housing, whereby the chipping tools are constructed planiformly, and are arranged on carrier elements along a drum-shaped, disk-shaped, or ring-shaped chipping path. The chipping tools rotate relative to one another by rotating about an axis of rotation, and are each divided by a division line based on their thickness into a core area, which faces the carrier element, and a utilization area, which is positioned opposite of the chipping tools. The chipping tools have at least one bore, formed perpendicular to the division line, the bore extends across the utilization area and ends at the division line between the core area and the utilization area.

  • Patent number: 7063282
Abstract: The present invention concerns a chipping or crushing apparatus having a prominent speed of rotation and mass inertial moment. The main parts of the apparatus include a chipping disc or a rotor, a short circuit motor and a frequency converter connected to the circuit of the motor. From the chipping disc, respectively from the rotor or from the motor there is arranged a data connection of the speed of rotation to the frequency converter, and the frequency converter has been arranged to control the frequency of the motor current by means of said data so, that in a situation of peak load, when the motor load (torque M) has reached the nominal load, the frequency converter keeps the motor load at the nominal load by decreasing the frequency of the motor current. Thereby kinetic energy of the rotating components will be released for use in the peak loads corresponding to the decrease of the speed of rotation.
