  • Patent number: 9840022
Abstract: An angled shear safety guide log splitting system has an elongated frame having parallel elongated guides attached thereto. A pressure plate adapted to be pushed by a utility piston and slide along the guides in a linear direction, and an angled shear member having a cutting edge member that is located at a distal end of the frame, wherein the angled shear member is shaped and positioned upon the frame at an angle such that a top portion of the cutting edge member is adapted to touch a log positioned upon the frame first followed successively downwardly by the rest of the cutting edge member to thereby more easily and efficiently split the log when pushed by the pressure plate.

  • Patent number: 9447599
Abstract: The present invention generally relates to a support pole having a spike unit with a prefabricated engaging thread and a method of using the same. The top of the spike unit is internally secured within a bottom opening of the support pole by an epoxy wherein the bottom of the support pole rests on a generally circular ridge of the spike unit. The support pole is especially suitable for use with mailbox posts, birdhouse posts, volleyball posts, fences, or the like. The support pole may be securely inserted or removed from the ground without the need for concrete, shovels and other numerous tools. The support pole has an opening on its exterior side for temporarily receiving a perpendicularly inserted rod which is inserted therein so as to provide leverage for driving the support pole into the ground by rotating the support pole clockwise or counter-clockwise.

  • Axe
    Patent number: 8925207
Abstract: An axe comprising a blade (3) provided with a cutting edge (6) at one end, and a handle (2), and in which the center of gravity of the axe is located at a distance from the cutting edge (6) of the axe and lies in a center-of-gravity plane (C) of the axe located at a distance from a blade plane (B) of the axe parallel with both the center-of-gravity plane (C) and a normal working motion plane (W) of the axe, and in which the cutting edge (6) of the blade and the center of gravity of the axe are arranged to cooperate when the blade (3) hits wood and the cutting edge (6) of the blade partly penetrates into the wood such that at least some of the impact force of the blade (3) is converted into a rotational motion and a motion of the blade (3) in a curvilinear trajectory, the blade (3) is attached to the handle (2) so that the handle (2) is uncircled by the blade (3).

  • Patent number: 8109305
Abstract: A log splitter attachment for attaching to a machine such as an excavator or backhoe boom to facilitate splitting of large diameter logs into multiple triangular wedges includes a central portion and an attachment portion coupled to the central portion such that the central portion is designed for attachment to the boom arm of a machine such as a back hoe or excavator. A plurality of planar sections is coupled to the central portion. The planar sections are arranged to extend radially outward from the central portion. A plurality of distal wedge members is provided. Each distal splitting wedge member is coupled to a respective one of the plurality of planar sections. A central wedge splitting member has a plurality of radial wedge portions. The central wedge splitting member is coupled to a base of the central portion.

  • Publication number: 20110126942
Abstract: A manually-operable log splitter for use with a splitting wedge has a pair of jaws pivotable about a point. Each jaw is connected to a handle extending away from its associated jaw from the pivot point. The jaws have a tip smaller than a width of the splitting wedge with which the splitter is used. The jaws and handles are dimensioned and configured for insertion beside the splitting wedge when embedded in a log. Manual application of force F on each handle outward from the pivot point spreads the jaws and provides sufficient force for splitting the log. This tool is particularly suited for small scale log splitting, such as by a home owner for personal use.

  • Patent number: 7159627
Abstract: A manual log splitting device for splitting a log has a first assembly including a base plate for resting of the log and a first upright extending upwardly from the base plate. A second assembly having an upright sleeve, impact plate, and wedge assembly, is axially and slidably mounted on the first upright with the upright sleeve. A user splits the log by causing the second assembly to move towards the base plate such that the wedge assembly passes through and splits the log. A receptacle abuttingly engages the upright sleeve and the base plate when the second assembly is in a resting position where the wedge assembly is slightly spaced apart from the base plate. Thus, movement of the second assembly towards the base plate beyond the resting position, and contact therebetween, is prevented.

  • Patent number: 6533004
Abstract: A wood-splitting impact tool with an enhanced wood-splitting function by virtue of its improved penetration and its reduced recoil. Improving the penetration of the wedge is achieved by fabricating the wedge of aluminum, titanium, graphite composite or alloys thereof, or any lightweight material that has rare energy transfer capability. Penetration into wood is further enhanced by using a frictionless or smooth surface coating on the penetrating surfaces of the wedge, such coating being PTFE, Teflon®, or anodized aluminum. The wedge and its cutting edge surfaces can be anodized to toughen as well as smooth all surfaces subject to deformation. The surface of the wedge is structurally decreased in recoil by interrupting the metal surface with small, periodic, directional or stepped abutments.
