Log Punching Patents (Class 144/24.1)
  • Publication number: 20130220486
Abstract: Apparatus for forming incisions in a timber plank, comprises: at least two rotary incisors each comprising a plurality of circumferentially distributed teeth and arranged in use to rotate at the same rate to form respective patterns of incisions in a common face of a plank as it is moved past the incisors, said patterns having a predetermined longitudinal alignment between them; depth-controlling means arranged to maintain, for each incisor, a predetermined depth of penetration of the teeth thereof into the plank; means for adjusting said predetermined depths of penetration; and means for allowing adjustment of the incisors (double-arrow) to compensate for the altered spatial period in said patterns when the depths of penetration of the incisors are adjusted, thereby allowing said longitudinal alignment between the respective patterns to be maintained.

  • Patent number: 8307865
Abstract: A collar is positionable around a trunk of a palm tree. The upper section has an annular track and a slot. Each drive wheel has a motor and a bracket with a lower end that supports a drive wheel. The upper end of each bracket is coupled to the collar with a spring. A saw is positioned above the collar. A saw motor is provided. A radial positioning assembly includes a plurality of arms that couple the saw, the collar and motors to vary the position of the saw. A circumferential positioning assembly includes a trolley. The trolley has wheels and a motor to move the trolley along the track. The lower end of the lower arm extends upwardly through the slot and is coupled to the trolley. A controller has switches to control the motor. Further in this manner the positioning and activating of the saw is controlled.

  • Patent number: 7017631
Abstract: A feller buncher includes an elongate support having an axis, a first side, a second side, a first end and a second end. A first tree receiving cavity is positioned along the first side of the support. A second tree receiving cavity is positioned along the second side of the support. A circular saw is positioned at the second end of the support. The plane of the saw is transverse to the axis of the vertical support. Movable grapple arms are positioned on each of the first side and the second side of the support above the circular saw. The grapple arms are adapted to hold trees while they are being felled and then maintain bunches of felled trees in each of the first tree receiving cavity and the second tree receiving cavity.

  • Patent number: 6330492
Abstract: A programmable furniture texturing robotic system includes a programmable multiaxis robot fixed to a support frame and a table fixed to a support frame such that they form an integrated unit and the programmable multiaxis robot has a furniture texturing tool unit attached to the end of the robot arm. The furniture texturing tool unit is attachable to and detachable from the arm of the robot and is either a furniture chattering tool unit or a furniture distressing multitool turret. The furniture chattering tool unit has a circular saw blade which produces surface chatter marks when it is dragged across the surface of a furniture part. The furniture distressing tool unit has a plurality of furniture distressing tools, each of which produce a plurality of furniture distress marks including simulated wood rot, worm holes, hatchet marks, rock marks, wood split marks, crooked vein lines, and cigarette burn marks.

  • Patent number: 6276412
Abstract: In a timber incising machine incorporating a shaft mounted rotating incisor drum, an improved incising drum comprising a shaft configured for rotation by the incising machine; a plurality of circular incisor plates, each of the incisor plates having a plurality of equally spaced incisor teeth extending radially from the radial edge of the circular incisor plates at a desired location. A plurality of incisor plates are stacked in a desired quantity and positioned to place the incisor teeth in a desired pattern and fixed together to form a plate array as a single unit. A plurality of the plate arrays are mounted on the shaft so as to form a rotatable drum having a plurality of radially extending incisor teeth positioned in a desired pattern.
