The kit can include a chisel that interacts with locating features of the guide to ensure proper placement of the chisel. Force applied to the chisel can score or otherwise cut the subject to a desired depth, at which point stops or other features of the guide can limit the chisel from scoring or cutting deeper. Placement of the chisel at opposite ends of the guide allow the full mortise perimeter to be scored or cut. Excess waste material can be removed from between the mortise perimeter, such as through use of the block plane.

The first limb has at least one pin for introducing at least one marking onto the furniture door, and the second limb has a securing opening for fixing the assembly aid tool onto an end face of the device door.

The cutting edge of the cutting device and the slot are in alignment. Upon placing the cutting device of the mortising tool to one side of the surface of an object from which a mortise is to be formed, material removal is effected by striking the rear portion of the mortising tool and directing it across the object. Material is removed by the cutting device as the mortising tool is directed across the object, and the slot facilitates waste material removal. The mortising tool is also provided with a shoulder which extends from the lower surface of the mortise forming member for controlling the distance the mortising tool travels when forming a mortise.

    Abstract: A door machine for preparing a door for hanging by automatically sizing, drilling the lock and latch holes, and forming the face plate mortise in an edge of the door. The apparatus includes a support frame to which are mounted motor-driven elements, controlled to operate in a predetermined sequence, that size (i.e., cut to a specific transverse dimension) the door and form the lock bore, latch hole, and the face plate mortise in or proximate a free edge of the door. A power-feed mechanism is included for transporting the door from an input station to a drill station. Hydraulic power is used to drive certain elements of the apparatus, including the drills used to form the lock bore and the latch hole.

    Abstract: A simple, inexpensive and easy to use tool for forming a rectangular mortice in either a door or a doorjamb. The tool comprises a U-shaped frame member adapted to be clamped to the edge of the door or doorjamb. Two sets of slots are formed in the frame, each set adapted to receive a pair of cutters. One set is aligned for forming a rectangular mortice on the edge of a door, while the other set is utilized to form the mortice on a doorjamb. A third cutter tool may be provided. The slots and cutters are designed to eliminate guesswork in forming the rectangular mortice.

    Abstract: An improved drilling machine for cutting holes for knobs and latches in metal-clad doors comprises a supporting framework for the door and a hollow drill arranged to be moved upward from the underside of the door to cut the knob opening. The drill is hollow in construction and is supported on a drive shaft by a plurality of support members spaced a sufficient distance apart to effect an easy discharge of the core which is cut and drops through the center of the hollow drill bit or cutter. In addition, the drill bit or cutter, which is hollow in construction, has the individual cutting teeth cut at an angle such that the innermost part of the cut is completed through the metal cladding on the door before the cutter begins to cut the wooden portion thereof.
