Abstract: A compact portable brush having a handle which is collapsed to reduce the size of the brush when carried whereby the handle extending from the housing for the brush bristles is interconnected with the bristle support means to cause the bristles to be retracted into the housing when the handle is collapsed in the compact, carry position. In the preferred embodiment, the bristles are supported on a bristle support member which when actuated from retracted to extended position, or vice versa, is moved along a path inclined to the longitudinal axis of the housing whereby the bristles in the retracted position are caused to be arranged at an angle inside the housing, such angle being accommodated by a living hinge connection between the bristle support and the bristles.

Abstract: A children's toothbrush having a handle and an arm joined to the handle and having bristles disposed at one end thereof. A joint is formed on the opposite end of the arm for connection to the handle. The handle has a cavity for receiving the arm and the bristles therein when the toothbrush is folded. There is also a lock disposed in the joint for releasably locking the joint to maintain said toothbrush in an open position. The joint comprises a cylindrical portion formed on the end of the arm having a central pivot hole. An annular channel is formed around the pivot hole and spaced apart wing arms receiving and capturing the cylindrical portion to complete the joint.

Abstract: A combination of a lint roller and encasement therefor in which two clam shell elements are pivotally connected together at one of their ends. One of the elements is a holder for a lint roller and the other is a cover/handle which when pivoted closed encloses the lint roller and when pivoted open serves as a handle. The two elements are each one-piece molded parts. The holder element includes a flexible flange extending from the end walls and between which the adhesive roller is rotatably mounted. The flanges preferably are circular in shape with protrusions extending therefrom having a diameter slightly less than the openings in the end of the cylindrical lint roller. The adjacent end walls of the two elements are inclined at each other so that the cover/handle when fully open extends at an angle from the axis of the roller providing space between the handle and applied surface when the roller is used on a flat surface.

Abstract: A brush for cleaning a clip receptacle of a gun is disclosed. The gun brush has a handle portion and a brush portion which is attached to the handle portion. The brush portion has a cross sectional shape that matches the cross sectional shape of the clip receptacle of the gun so that the brush portion can easily enter the clip receptacle of the gun and readily clean the clip receptacle.

Abstract: An elongated device for applying lotion to the body which comprises a first elongated section and a second elongated section joined together through a pivot so as to be foldable upon each other in a closed condition. An applicator head hingedly attached to the first section at the end distant from such pivot and a compartment in one of the sections for storage of a plurality of soft absorbent pads attachable to the head.

Abstract: The present invention concerns a packageable toilet utensil comprising one handhold with two hollow bodies articulated with respect to each other, one open holder-forming body intended to receive at least a part of at least the active head of the utensil and one cover-forming body that may be folded on the holder-forming body, the active head carrying stem being mounted pivotally about a pivoting pin of the holder-forming body so as to occupy an active position in the prolongation of the holding-forming body in which position the stem and the active head are locked by folding of the cover-forming body.

Abstract: A folding toothbrush having an articulated handle with a front portion, a center portion and a back portion. Bristles are attached to the front end of the front portion. The handle portions are joined by hinges such that the toothbrush can be stored in a folded configuration and can be opened to an operational configuration in which the handle portions are longitudinally aligned. The toothbrush is preferably made of a plastic material so that the handle can be molded as a single piece with "living" hinges. The center portion of the handle interlocks with the front and back portions when the handle is fully extended so that it will remain in its operational configuration while in use.

Abstract: This foldable multipurpose cleaning device comprises a fluid-receiving receptacle member detachably connected to a cleaning head assembly. The receptacle member includes a plunger and dispensing means for the fluid. The cleaning head assembly includes an elongated scraper or squeegee and an elongated brush or sponge borne on a carriage member, an intermediate coupling member projecting from the carriage member and comprising a female housing member with a locking notch in its base, a slotted body member topped with a male head portion that has near its base a lug that is engagable with the notch on the female housing member in a releasable gripping relationship when the carriage member is in a generally horizontal position for operation, the female housing member being pivotally attached to the male head portion by means of oppositely-disposed pivot pin elements projecting from the male head portion into corresponding pivot slots in the female housing member for slip joint action therebetween.

Abstract: A foldable toothbrush and toothpaste supply unit usable under circumstances where a standard toothbrush and toothpaste dispenser are ordinarily not available, thereby making it possible for the user to brush his teeth, and after one or more times of use, to dispose of the unit. The unit is formed by a single, generally rectangular plate of semi-rigid plastic material having a strip extending from the longitudinal center axis at one end thereof to support a brush. Formed in the other end of the piece and integral therewith is a trough which depends from the piece and is in alignment with the brush, the trough being dimensioned to accommodate the brush and a bed of toothpaste. A transverse score line on the piece creates a living hinge dividing the piece into a brush section and a trough section, such that in the storage mode when the brush section is folded over the trough section, the brush is then nested in the trough and partially immersed in the toothpaste.

Abstract: An implement includes first and second elongated legs that are joined by a first hinge between respective one ends thereof to permit those legs to be folded toward and away from one another. The legs are mutually shaped to define a cavity within a handle when folded together about the hinge. Third and fourth elongated legs are each of a size to be nested within the portion of the cavity defined by a respective one of the first and second legs. A second hinge couples one end of the third leg to the other end of the first leg. A third hinge couples one end of the fourth leg to the other end of the second leg. Finally, a fourth hinge couples together the other ends of the third and fourth legs.

Abstract: A squeegee having a retractable blade. One embodiment of the present invention provides a handless squeegee having a retractable blade. Alternate embodiments provide a squeegee having both a foldable handle and a retractable blade. With each of the embodiments, a blade holder and blade are moveably positioned in the interior of a blade housing. An elongated opening is provided through the upper surface of the blade housing for extending and retracting the blade. Mechanical means are provided for moving the blade holder in the interior of the blade housing when it is desired to either extend or retract the blade.

Abstract: A cleaning device comprises a handle member and one or more brushes, each brush having an abrasive bristle end. Each brush is mounted on the handle member for independent pivotal movement relative to the handle member between an operative position in which the abrasive bristle end extends outwardly of the handle member for use and an inoperative position in which the abrasive bristle end is contained within the confines of the handle member for storage.

Abstract: The disclosed self-cleaning retractable comb comprises an elongated member made of flexible resilient resinous plastic material and comprising a comb portion and body portion at opposite ends thereof, with a handle portion extending between said comb portion and said body portion. The comb portion is formed with a plurality of comb teeth which are slidably received in openings formed in a lower wall on said body portion. The comb portion and the teeth are movable between an extended position, in which the teeth are extended through the openings, and a retracted position in which the tips of the teeth are retracted into the openings. The handle portion is flexed into a generally U-shaped loop and is effective to bias the comb portion toward its retracted position. The body portion has sidewall means for enclosing the teeth, when retracted, and stop means for limiting the retraction of the comb portion.

Abstract: A pocket hair brush having a self-contained cover in an integral unit formed of a thermoplastic polymeric resin and includes a backing plate flexible rectangular panel having integrally formed bristles projecting from a face thereof. Rectangular side panels are joined to the backing plate by self-hinges and rectangular wing panels are joined to the side panel outer side edges and form dihedral angles therewith. A short notch is medially formed along the junction between one of the side and wing panels and extensions with enlarged ends are medially formed at opposite sides of the other wing panel. The side and wing panels are swingable between a closed position covering the bristles and releasably locked by coupling of one extension and the slot and an open rearwardly directed handle defining position with the other extension engaging the slot.

Abstract: A retractable bristle brush comprising a housing having a bottom side, a top side, spaced side walls and spaced end walls, a plurality of openings extending inwardly from the bottom side, a plurality of bristles aligned with said openings, means mounted for movement between retracted and extended positions of adjustment relative to the housing, the inner ends of said bristles being connected to said means for movement of said bristles through said openings to retracted position within the housing responsive to movement of said means to retracted position and for movement to extend perpendicularly outwardly from the bottom side of the housing responsive to movement of said means to extended position.

Abstract: An inexpensive sanitary hairbrush assembly is provided which is equipped with a cover that hinges down over the bristles of the brush when the brush is not in use bending the bristles down into the plane of the base, so as to provide a compact enclosure for the bristles, thereby permitting the brush to be carried in a purse, handbag, pocket, or the like, without exposure of the bristles; and in which the cover serves as a handle for the brush when it is opened.

Abstract: An absorbent tipped liquid applicator apparatus is equipped with a mechanism for selectively capping and uncapping the tip in response to manual pressure. The applicator includes an absorbent tip and a body which normally contains a reservoir of fluid. A flexible sleeve is attached to the body at one end. A spring loaded sleeve retractor is connected to the other end of the sleeve and is flexibly attached to the body of the applicator also. In its capping mode, the sleeve is drawn over the absorbent tip and is clamped there by the retractor means. When the retractor means is squeezed, it opens up the end of the sleeve and withdraws it so as to effectively uncap the tip. Releasing the manual pressure on the retracting means causes the sleeve to return to its capping mode position. This technique can be applied to nylon tipped pens, felt tipped marking and highlighting pens, glue sticks, shoe polish applicators and the like.
