  • Patent number: 4302122
Abstract: A rotary brush for applying paint to surfaces comprises a housing, a rotatable hollow cylindrical body which bears on the cylindrical surface a plurality of brush units, motor means, passage means for supplying paint from a supply channel to the bristles of the brush units, and a number of stationary guide rings mounted rigidly in the housing and guidingly surrounding the rotatable cylindrical body. The guide rings are disposed in zones transverse to the axis of the cylindrical body and distributed over the length of the same. Each ring bears a slidable bearing means adapted for bearing, for instance with a loose wheel at its free end, against the surface to be painted, thus relieving pressure of the bristles on the surface to be painted.

  • Patent number: 4263745
Abstract: A portable leaf cleaner is disclosed into which plant leaves to be cleaned or otherwise treated are introduced between rolls which apply a cleaning fluid to the leaves. Means are provided for controlling the flow of fluid to the rolls. One of the rolls is driven by a reversing motor while the other is frictionally driven by the first roll. The other roll is resiliently urged against the first roll, so as to be movable relatively to the first roll, to thereby prevent breakage or damage to the leaves as they pass between the rolls. The reversing motor is energized by a battery or cell, and the device is supported by a handle which is adapted to be grasped in one hand and has means associated therewith for controlling an electrical circuit which energizes the motor.

  • Patent number: 4238866
Abstract: A portable, motor-operated cleaning device for removing leaves and other debris from rain gutters on buildings. An electric motor is pivotally mounted on the end of a telescoping rigid tubular handle with the electric cord for the motor extending along the interior of the handle to a switch mounted on the opposite handle end. A plurality of short sections of flexible line are mounted on the motor shaft for rotation with a high velocity by the motor. Each of the sections of line have a preformed configuration having a portion which extends in a generally radially outwardly direction from the shaft and an integrally connected portion which then extends in a generally concavely curved direction toward the direction of shaft rotation. A bracket is mounted on the motor housing and has a pair of rollers which are mounted at right angles with respect to a third roller to provide for rolling engagement with the horizontal and vertical outer edges of a rain gutter.

  • Patent number: 4168559
Abstract: A cleaning device for removing leaves and other debris from elevated structures such as gutters. An elongated support handle is provided with a quick-release coupling at an upper end thereof. A curved support member is removably secured to the elongated support member and has a power means, such as an electric motor provided at an opposite end thereof. A shaft extending from the electric motor is provided with a plurality of elongated, flexible elements to engage, dislodge, or comminute leaves and other debris in gutters or other elevated structures during operation of same. Universal joints along the curved upper support member permit the placement of the power means in such fashion to move under nails or the like that are used to support the gutters and secure same to a housing structure. Normal operation of the power means disposes the shaft vertically with the elongated, flexible members rotating in a horizontal plane.

  • Patent number: 4137588
Abstract: This disclosure pertains to a portable rechargeable battery operated handheld cleaning device adapted to receive various cleaning implements, such as wire brushes, abrasive wheels, and the like into one of the dual internally housed transverse cleaning implement receiving tongues. Each tongue, used singly at the option of the user, has a reciprocating motion limited to one hundred eighty degrees. Terminals are provided for recharging the batteries included in the waterproof fully immersible housing. A charging device, operating from household voltage, provides the requisite battery charging current when the handheld cleaning device is connected to it. The charging device is energized by the household current only when the handheld cleaning device is inserted into it, so as to close a charging enabling switch internally mounted within the charging device.

  • Patent number: 4125916
Abstract: A power-driven tool for cleaning insulation and corrosion from conductors is portable and applies a controlled pressure established by hand. The tool employs a motor-driven abrasive drum and a pressure pad movable toward and away from the abrasive drum, with the conductor being squeezed between the pad and the drum during operation. A control for the motor is activated by the motion of the pressure pad toward the drum beyond a preestablished point, and an adjustable stop estalishes a minimum spacing between the pressure pad and the abrasive drum. A shroud covers the drum at all points except for an exposed area between the drum and the pressure pad, and a bias spring urges the pressure pad away from the drum to stop the motor upon release by the operator.

  • Patent number: 4016802
Abstract: A battery-operated scribing tool wherein an elongated casing defines a handle with an interior cavity serving as a battery chamber and with an opening at the outboard end leading to the cavity. A pair of spring-biased batteries are in-line receivable in the cavity and are secured in situ by a hollow head or motor housing having a rearward end sleevably received over the forward end of the casing so as to be snugly held relative thereto. A motor is nestably received within the head hollow. A slot in the head side wall allows manual actuation of the outboard free end of a switch bus extendable along the cavity wall and along the wall of the hollow of the head with a biasable extremity extending into the slot. An etching means projects outwardly from the motor and through an opening in the outboard end of the head and may be sleeved through a coupling adjacent the head opening.
