Patent number: 8056180Abstract: A mobile leaf blower includes a main blower assembly driven by an engine or motor. The blower has a deflector box at the blower outlet with deflector plates which enable the air flow to be either directed laterally and forwardly of the blower unit or to a flexible blower tube attached to the unit. The operator may either cause the air flow to flow through the flexible blower tube or forwardly and laterally of the blower unit along the ground. When not in use, the flexible blower tube can be wound around a hose reel attached to the main handles of the ground blower unit.Type: GrantFiled: December 16, 2009Date of Patent: November 15, 2011Assignee: Ariens CompanyInventor: Fernando R. Patent number: 7945990Abstract: A vacuum hose storage system includes a housing which is mounted in a storage area of a dwelling or vehicle and connected to a vacuum source. A length of flexible, expandable cleaning hose is mounted in a looped fashion about a plurality of spaced rollers rotatably mounted within the housing. A handle is attached to one end of the hose and is seated in a cradle formed in the housing when the hose is in a fully retracted position within the housing. The cradle is mounted in the housing and receives the open end of the hose when not in use and enables other vacuum tubes in the structure to be operational without shutting off the vacuum to the stored hose. An ON/OFF switch is located in the cradle for controlling the vacuum source and is actuated when the handle is placed in or removed from the cradle. The hose has an internal helical spring which biases the hose toward a retracted position about the spaced rollers within the housing.Type: GrantFiled: May 5, 2008Date of Patent: May 24, 2011Assignee: H-P Products, Inc.Inventors: Andrew L. Gabric, Shawn C. Metz, Darrell V. Nieschwitz, James F. Smith

Patent number: 7624470Abstract: A cleaning apparatus for cleaning a heat exchange coil includes a gas-dispensing member having a cavity for carrying a gas and at least one orifice in communication with the cavity. An actuating device which couples to the gas dispensing member and moves the gas dispensing member relative to a coil such that the gas dispensed from the gas dispensing member through the at least one orifice removes dust and debris from the coil. A timer initiates operation of the gas-dispensing member and the actuating device at given time intervals.Type: GrantFiled: August 17, 2004Date of Patent: December 1, 2009Inventor: Keith A. Heyman

Patent number: 7309366Abstract: A process and apparatus for cleaning filter cake from the interior of a baghouse bag. A nozzle through which compressed gas flows is positioned on the interior of a bag such that gas is directed to, and thereby disrupts, the filter cake. The compressed gas flows in the same direction as a gas that is being filtered by the baghouse, thereby avoiding the effects of reverse-flow cleaning.Type: GrantFiled: April 5, 2006Date of Patent: December 18, 2007Inventor: Robert M. Jensen

Patent number: 7279051Abstract: A method for treating an exposed surface. A treating apparatus is provided having an elongate support and at least one flexible surface contacting element at a distal region of the support. The elongate support is manipulated from a proximal region of the support so as to place the flexible surface contacting element at the exposed surface to be treated. The flexible surface contacting element is caused to be repeatedly moved to effect treatment at the exposed surface.Type: GrantFiled: August 29, 2005Date of Patent: October 9, 2007Inventor: Nick Griffith

Patent number: 6883527Abstract: The compressor cleaning system includes a track mounted about the inlet of the compressor. A circumferential position assembly mounts an insertion drive assembly which is driven about the track into selected circumferential positions. The insertion drive assembly carries a manipulator arm assembly mounting at its distal end a cleaning head. By using pairs of control cables, the proximal yaw, pitch and distal yaw sections of the manipulator arm can be moved to weave the cleaning head past the multiple stages of blading to locate the cleaning head adjacent a selected blade. By repeated extension and retraction of the cleaning head relative to the compressor inlet and about the compressor blades, each blade can be cleaned without disassembly of the compressor casing or removal of the rotor.Type: GrantFiled: July 24, 2002Date of Patent: April 26, 2005Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventors: Andrew Joseph Travaly, William Francis Lopes, Kathleen Lynne Bentzel

Patent number: 6789588Abstract: A wood planing machine includes a support carriage movably mounted on a mounting frame for supporting a cutting shaft. A motor housing and a shaving collecting member are mounted on the carriage. The collecting member defines a shaving passageway in the vicinity of the cutting shaft and in fluid communication with an air conduit such that an air stream introduced from the motor housing can entrain wood shavings collected in the collecting member. A blower mechanism includes a drive shaft coupled to and driven by the cutting shaft for rotating an impeller for drawing wood shavings from the collecting member into the blowing mechanism and out of a discharge member.Type: GrantFiled: May 24, 2002Date of Patent: September 14, 2004Inventors: Juei-Seng Liao, Pei-Lieh Chiang

Patent number: 6629548Abstract: A sawdust collecting device includes a flexible sleeve having a tapered top section with an open top end, and a bottom section having an open bottom end. A truncated cone-shaped coil spring is disposed in the tapered top section of the flexible sleeve, and abuts against an inner wall of the tapered top section of the flexible sleeve so as to expand the tapered top section of the flexible sleeve. A sawdust collector is disposed below the flexible sleeve, and has an open top end connected to the open bottom end of the flexible sleeve.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 2002Date of Patent: October 7, 2003Inventor: Pei-Lieh Chiang

Patent number: 6481475Abstract: A wood planing machine includes a support carriage movably mounted on two sides of a mounting frame for supporting a cutting shaft. A motor housing and a shaving collecting member are disposed on the carriage. The collecting member confines a shaving passageway along the cutting shaft, and has an outlet port adjacent to one side. An air conduit is disposed for passage of introduced air into the shaving passageway from the other side to enhance entraining of wood shavings. An air stream deflecting member is disposed to deflect air stream to pass by the outlet port for onward movement to a blower.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 2002Date of Patent: November 19, 2002Inventors: Juei-Seng Liao, Pei-Lieh Chiang
