Abstract: A round-shaped lid with a curved edge and domed air outlets to collect leaves with a blower/vacuum in suction mode. The leaves shredded by the blower/vacuum are discharged into a connecting pipe which is attached to a lid inserted into the opening of a large debris collection bag. In particular, the lid has three main openings, one for the entry of debris and two for the air outlet. The connecting pipe is made of ribbed plastic and is held to the lid by the sides of a groove and to the blower/vacuum by a plastic sleeve with cable ties. A piece of thick plastic or metal is placed under a plastic membrane and the debris collection bag in order to protect them during movement over the ground. The debris is collected directly into the bag that will be discarded.

Abstract: A dirt separator for a vacuum cleaner that comprises an inlet through which fluid enters the separator, and an outlet through which fluid exits the separator. The separator further comprises a filter assembly located downstream of the inlet and upstream of the outlet, an opening through which the filter assembly may be removed from the separator, and a hatch moveable between an open position in which the opening is uncovered and a closed position in which the opening is partially covered. When the filter assembly is removed from the separator and the hatch is in the closed position, a bleed is created around at least part of the hatch through which fluid enters the separator in preference to the inlet. When the filter assembly is located in the separator and the hatch is in the closed position, the filter assembly seals against the hatch to close the bleed.

  • Patent number: 8925145
Abstract: A cleaning appliance comprising a main body and a separating apparatus including a dirt collector having a base that is openable that allows the dirt collector to be emptied. The cleaning appliance includes an actuator that is operable sequentially such that, during a first operation, the actuator causes the base to be opened and, during a second operation, the actuator causes the dirt collector to disengage from the separating apparatus. A single actuator is therefore used for two functions: firstly to open the dirt collector for emptying purposes and, secondly, to disengage the dirt collector from the separating apparatus for example for cleaning purposes. Such an arrangement is space efficient and intuitive for the user.

Abstract: A vacuum system includes a filter cleaning mechanism which allows the filter to be cleaned without removal from the vacuum. This mechanism can include a carrying handle which is biased against the lid by a spring. The handle may be released from a vertical position, causing the handle to forcefully strike the lid and dislodge debris from the filter. The vacuum may include a spark arrestor disposed around the filter. The spark arrestor encloses the filter and surrounds the filter sides with a metal screen. The spark arrestor has holes formed in the bottom around the outer perimeter of the filter so that debris which is dislodged from the filter falls through the holes and into the vacuum canister.
