Work Operated Valve Patents (Class 15/407)
  • Publication number: 20100107631
Abstract: Systems and methods for using compressed intake air that is free of soot particles to clean the EGR cooler of an internal combustion engine having a turbocharger are provided herein. One example system includes an EGR valve for selectively diverting a portion of exhaust gas through an EGR conduit to an intake side of the internal combustion engine, an EGR cooler disposed in the EGR conduit, the EGR cooler having an exhaust side and an intake side, and a compressed intake air delivery system including a compressed air conduit, the compressed intake air delivery system being configured to selectively divert a portion of compressed intake air compressed by the turbocharger through the EGR cooler to remove soot particles deposited in the EGR cooler.

  • Patent number: 7350265
Abstract: A self-contained handheld drain clearing device is provided that uses compressed air to unblock various household drains and pipes. The device comprises an upper body and a lower body. The upper body includes a cylindrical chamber for housing a manual pump. A one-way inlet valve allows compressed air to enter a collection chamber, from which it exits to a storage chamber through a small hole in a piston. A trigger component is located in the upper body of the device, as is a pressure release safety component included for user protection. The lower body of the device primarily serves as a storage area for compressed air, containing an upper end and a lower end. The upper end contains threads for joining the lower body with the upper body, while the lower end contains a fitting for receiving various drain-sealing adapters.

  • Patent number: 6032301
Abstract: A plunger includes an upper base, a pressure ball under the upper base, a correlative tubular shaft extending vertically through the pressure ball, a handle pivotally connected with an upper end of the correlative tubular shaft, a connecting rod connects to the correlative shaft, and a lower end stopper threadably connected with the lower end of the connecting rod. The pressure ball can store air supplied by an air pump or compressor through an air inlet. The handle can be operated to let the air stored in the pressure ball flow through the correlative shaft, the connecting rod and the lower end stopper into a clogged pipe or drain for clearing passage with a large force of pressured air.

  • Patent number: 5630246
Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus for cleaning floors. In one embodiment, the apparatus includes four wheels, two of which are steerable wheels, and a steering mechanism that permits the two steerable wheels to turn to a degree that allows very tight turns to be made by the sweeper. In another embodiment, the apparatus is a sweeper with a cylindrical side broom. Yet a further embodiment of the sweeper includes flaps or seals that form a skirt about the broom and a mounting mechanism for slidably receiving the flap or seal. In a further embodiment, the apparatus is a sweeper that employs flaps with wear indicators that tell an operator when to adjust or replace the flap. In another embodiment, the apparatus is a sweeper that utilizes a pre-filter to remove debris that remains in the vacuum airstream after having passed through the hopper and that is of a size that can require frequent cleaning of a subsequent filtering device.

  • Patent number: 5331747
Abstract: A hydraulic testing and drying apparatus for a water cooled-stator in an electrical generator. The apparatus is mounted on a sled (10) and comprises an air compressor (16), regenerative air dryer (18), receiver (20), vacuum pump (22) and associated piping and control devices. After the receiver is coupled to the inlet to a stator winding, dry and clean compressed air pressurizes the receiver and stator winding. Pressure activates valves between the compressor and receiver, and at the drain of the stator winding operate so that the pressurized air purges moisture from the stator windings. Through the use of pressure activated switches, cycles of pressurization and purging are run automatically. Hygrometer sensors monitor the dewpoint of the air entering the generator and of the air exhausting from the generator. A vacuum pump (22) creates a vacuum within the stator winding to complete drying and to test the decay of a vacuum in the stator windings.
