The inner portion of the frame include a plurality of undulations that extend towards and away from a ball-hitting surface, the undulations reducing the unintended bunching and wrinkling of material that intermittently forms in the frame during the manufacturing process. The undulations can be varied by location, undulation length, undulation height, and frequency and can be used in racquets made from a variety of materials and methods.Type: GrantFiled: August 20, 2002Date of Patent: October 25, 2005Assignee: EF Composite Technologies, L.P.Inventor: Rafael G. Patent number: 6946360Abstract: An improved method of bonding involves using direct fluid pressure to press together the layers to be bonded. Advantageously one or more of the layers are sufficiently flexible to provide wide area contact under the fluid pressure. Fluid pressing can be accomplished by sealing an assembly of layers to be bonded and disposing the assembly in a pressurized chamber. It can also be accomplished by subjecting the assembly to jets of pressurized fluid. The result of this fluid pressing is reduction of voids and enhanced uniformity over an enlarged area.Type: GrantFiled: June 4, 2002Date of Patent: September 20, 2005Assignee: Nanonex CorporationInventor: Stephen Y. Patent number: 6926792Abstract: In manufacturing an air-bag (1) which is formed from two super-imposed layers of fabric (2) interconnected by a plurality of seams (3), a sealant material is applied to the interior of the air-bag. The sealant material is applied by introducing a mandrel (10) carrying a parison of the sealant material (11) into the air-bag, and injecting air into the mandrel.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 1999Date of Patent: August 9, 2005Assignee: Autoliv Development ABInventors: Simon Valkenburg, Norbert Pitzer

Patent number: 6893604Abstract: A method is disclosed for reinforcement of thin wall hollow thermoplastic storage vessels with one or more wraps of continuous fibers. This method requires thermal bonding between the reinforcement fibers and the outer surface of the thermoplastic storage vessel while the interior cavity of the storage vessel is being pressurized. The fiber wraps can also be oriented in spatial directions further resisting internal stress on the storage vessel walls when put in service.Type: GrantFiled: October 10, 2002Date of Patent: May 17, 2005Assignee: ADC Acquisition CompanyInventor: David E. Patent number: 6844037Abstract: A fuel tank includes a vessel having a wall, the wall includes at least a first layer forming a hydrocarbon barrier, and a second layer that is more permeable to hydrocarbons than the first layer and is located on an outside of the first layer. The fuel tank also includes an insert defining a passage between an inside of the vessel and an outside thereof. The insert includes a first end overmolded by the wall and a second end opposite to the first end projecting outside the vessel. The wall has a portion extending inside the insert around an opening of the wall, the insert being configured to form at least one region of reduced thickness in the second layer along a diffusion path for hydrocarbons diffusing along the second layer from an edge of the wall adjacent to the opening towards the outside of the vessel.Type: GrantFiled: January 13, 2003Date of Patent: January 18, 2005Assignee: Compagnie Plastic OmniumInventors: Patrice Gombert, Stéphanie Marchal, Alain Gris, Claude Leviel, Philippe Griaud

Patent number: 6797100Abstract: The invention relates to a film tube (10) based on cellulose which is produced by extruding an aqueous cellulose-N-methyl-morpholine-N-oxide (NMMO) solution through a ring nozzle (21) onto a lining (3). The film tube (10) is manufactured by means of a vertically descending spinning in a spinning vat (12) in which a spinning bath (11) is located. The film tube (10) which is submerged in the spinning bath (11) passes through an air gap (9) between the underside of a nozzle block (7) and the upper surface of the spinning bath (11) and, internally, is pressurized, supported and slightly stretched in a transversal manner by compressed air. The film tube (10) is filled with an inner bath solution (31) via a supply tube (18). An idle roller (13) is situated near the bottom of the spinning vat (12) in order to guide the film tube (10) around and, afterwards, out of the spinning vat (12) in an upward sloping manner. The film tube is laid flat along a contact section (27) of the idle roller (13).Type: GrantFiled: June 15, 2001Date of Patent: September 28, 2004Assignee: Kalle GmbH & Co. Publication number: 20040156682Abstract: The apparatus and method for eliminating ground water infiltration while stabilizing the ground and repairing underground pipe/conduit and connections is taught in this art. The steps are to first inject, under pressure, expandable structural foam in the space adjacent and outside the pipe while blocking any infiltration of the foam into the interior of the pipe, conduit or connection. Concurrently or separately the inside diameter of the pipe is receiving a structural repair. The result is stabilized ground, elimination of ground water infiltration and repair of the host pipe conduit or connection.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 3, 2004Publication date: August 12, 2004Inventors: Richard Blackmore, William Lepola

Publication number: 20040079472Abstract: A drum for electrophotographic printing, which is easy to assemble and economical and which provides reliable electrophotographic charging and discharging. A drum core is provided and an exchangeable sleeve is applied to the outside of the drum core, which contains a layer made of an elastic, fiber-reinforced, and conductive plastic. Furthermore, the drum contains a layer made of an elastic, fiber-reinforced, conductive plastic. Due to the conductivity of the elastic, fiber-reinforced, conductive plastic, the electrostatic charges can flow to or from an object, whereby electrostatic illustration is made possible. The sleeve has high stability and high elasticity due to the above-mentioned characteristics and it can be charged or discharged as desired. The sleeve can be easily mounted on the drum core due to its light weight and high elasticity.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 7, 2003Publication date: April 29, 2004Inventors: Udo Drager, Detlef Schulze-Hagenest

Patent number: 6676884Abstract: Disclosed is a helmet or a safety cap for protecting the rider's head and a method of manufacturing the same, in which the main body of the helmet has a dual-structure so as to reduce work process when an outer surface of the helmet is painted, and weight thereof. The main body of the helmet has a dual-structure in that an outer surface thereof is formed of a thermoplastic for an aesthetic enhancement and an inner surface thereof is formed of FRP or a mixture of aramide fiber, polyethylene fiber, vinylon, carbon fiber. Thus-formed dual structure of the helmet body contributes to enhancement in impact resistance and convenience in painting, decreasing an overall weight of the helmet.Type: GrantFiled: October 16, 2002Date of Patent: January 13, 2004Assignee: Hong Jin Crown Corp., Ltd.Inventors: Wan-Ki Hong, Myung-Ho Jung, Dae-Ki Park, Seung-Han Park
