Publication number: 20110277905Abstract: A printer has a printer unit including a recording head and automatic cutter, and an adhesive transfer unit disposed downstream from the automatic cutter. The adhesive transfer unit has a transfer mechanism that supplies adhesive tape and transfers adhesive to recording paper at a transfer position. When a paper detector disposed upstream from the transfer position detects recording paper, the control unit of the printer causes the pressure mechanism to alternately form the contact state pressing the recording paper to the adhesive tape, and the non-contact state in which the recording paper is separated from the adhesive tape. Adhesive is transferred to the recording paper passing the transfer position while this contact operation repeats intermittently.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 9, 2011Publication date: November 17, 2011Applicant: SEIKO EPSON CORPORATIONInventor: Yoshimitsu KOIKE

Publication number: 20100276074Abstract: Tapes are attached to a long support film, and the support film is attached to a frame member at positions where the tape to be stuck to an adherent, such as a semiconductor wafer, is included in a frame of a frame member. The support film is pressed to stick the tape to the adherend, and the support film is released from the tape. The support film is transferred and the above operations are repeated to stick the tapes to the respective adherends. In this manner, the tension to the tape is diffused to the support film, and the frame member causes the tension of the support film to reside outside of the frame. Accordingly, the tape stuck to the adherend has reduced residual stress and the adherend such as a thin semiconductor wafer to which the tape has been stuck is free from warpage which would otherwise be caused by a tape applied under tension.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 1, 2010Publication date: November 4, 2010Applicant: LINTEC CORPORATIONInventor: Takehito Nakayama

Patent number: 7632371Abstract: A flocked transfer is produced by applying a release agent to a release sheet, and then applying the flocking to a release agent. Unlike the traditional method, a binder and thermoplastic hot melt film is applied to the back of the flock. The transfer, which is essentially release sheet, is then applied to a substrate, such as item of clothing, a rubber pad, etc., by positioning a sheet of thermoplastic hot melt film on the substrate; placing the transfer on the hot melt with the flock in contact with the hot melt film, and applying heat and pressure. The heat melts the thermoplastic hot melt film to bind the flock to the substrate and binds the flocking together. This method reduces the cost involved in producing flocked articles, especially for articles produced on a continuous basis.Type: GrantFiled: October 22, 2007Date of Patent: December 15, 2009Assignee: High Voltage Graphics, Inc.Inventor: Louis Brown Abrams

Publication number: 20090294039Abstract: A film transfer unit is provided on an inking unit of a printing unit. If such a film transfer unit includes an intermittent drive device having dancers then, as a result, access to an ink fountain or an inking unit is generally rather restricted. Adjustable guide elements of the intermittent drive device are provided in a frame of an intermittent drive module which can be pushed, in the form of a cassette, out of an opening of the film transfer unit when the film transfer unit is not to be used to transfer a transfer layer from a transfer film to a printing material, so that an installation space which has thus become free can be used to operate an ink fountain of the inking unit. A cassette for a film transfer apparatus and a method for operating a film transfer apparatus, are also provided.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 27, 2009Publication date: December 3, 2009Applicant: Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AGInventor: ALEXANDER WEBER

Publication number: 20090133815Abstract: A receiver base receives from below a front end portion of a label that is fed forward from a folded-back portion of an release paper and droops forward, so that the label is held in a predetermined forwardly and downwardly inclined posture. In a process of separating and feeding the label in such a statewhere part of a rear end of the label is joined and held onto the release paper, a suction head having a downward suction surface that is inclined forward and downward is brought closer to a top surface of the label being separated so as to suck the label.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 15, 2008Publication date: May 28, 2009Inventors: Chouhei Okuno, Masayuki Yamamoto

Patent number: 7520951Abstract: A method of transferring nanoparticles to a surface is provided. The method includes rotating a perimeter surface through a colloidal solution such that nanoparticles are captured by binding sites, removing liquid from the captured nanoparticles and rotating a take-up roll such that the captured nanoparticles contact a carrier surface. Moreover, the method includes removing the captured nanoparticles from the perimeter surface and transferring the nanoparticles to the carrier surface with a carrier adhesive material, rotating the carrier surface such that the transferred nanoparticles contact a target substrate, and removing the transferred nanoparticles from the carrier surface and transferring the transferred nanoparticles to the target substrate with a target substrate material.Type: GrantFiled: April 17, 2008Date of Patent: April 21, 2009Assignee: International Business Machines (IBM) CorporationInventors: Heiko Wolf, Tobias Kraus
