Patent number: 4146418Abstract: A label is applied to a cup by superimposing a foil tape on a label tape that has a plurality of transverse breaking lines. The tapes are heated to "floatingly" connect the label tape to the foil tape and are then introduced into a deep-drawing apparatus so that the punch thereof may cyclically sever a single label and at the same time form a cup. If the breaking line is fed to the longitudinal axis of the deep-drawing apparatus, the label will be applied to two sides of the cup. If the label tape is fed so that the breaking line is approximately at the far edge of the deep-drawing apparatus then the label will be applied to only one side of the cup. The label tape may be longitudinally slit so that a plurality of cups may be simultaneously deep-drawn.Type: GrantFiled: September 7, 1977Date of Patent: March 27, 1979Assignee: Hassia Verpackung GmbHInventor: Kurt Walter

Patent number: 4128678Abstract: Apparatus for and method of manufacturing a heat insulating material from an uncured, strip-shaped felt of fibres containing a heat hardenable bonding substance firstly form corrugations extending across the entire width of the uncured felt and following one another in succession along the length of the felt. The corrugated felt is then cured as a cured felt containing fibres extending in a serpentine array along the felt, and conveyed along a path of travel extending past a cutter having a cutting blade extending transversely across the path, whereby the felt is cut longitudinally into two partial felts, the corrugations being severed so that the fibres form U-shaped arrays disposed in succession along each of the partial felts. This fibre array provides compressive strength combined with flexibility, enabling the insulating material to be used on various pipe sizes.Type: GrantFiled: July 7, 1977Date of Patent: December 5, 1978Assignee: Fiberglas Canada LimitedInventors: Paul E. Patent number: 4024003Abstract: Two warp sheds are formed from warp threads at least some of which are meltable. The warp threads are preheated to make them deformable and weft threads are inserted into the respective sheds and beaten-up in order to form two superimposed fabrics which are connected by the meltable warp threads. During the beating-up the weft threads and the meltable warp threads are simultaneously heated so as to make them adhere to one another. The resulting fabrics are cooled to reverse the deformability of the meltable warp threads, and thereupon the latter are severed intermediate the fabrics by application of heat while the severed ends of the meltable warp threads are simultaneously deformed.Type: GrantFiled: May 27, 1975Date of Patent: May 17, 1977Assignee: Patax Trust Reg.Inventor: Hugo Buhler

Patent number: 3978263Abstract: Disclosed is a process for manufacturing elastic floor covering boards comprising a lower, water-permeable layer of natural or synthetic rubber particles bound together by an adhesive and a cover layer of non-woven synthetic textile fibers, which process comprises placing into a mold the cover layer of non-woven synthetic textile fibers, impregnating this layer with a resilient, heat-curable adhesive, placing the particles of natural or synthetic rubber which are likewise impregnated with said adhesive on top of the fibrous layer and subsequently compressing both layers in the mold at a temperature below 100.degree.C. and at a pressure of from 40 to 100 metric tons per square meter until the adhesive is cured. Advantageously, a woven reinforcing layer is interposed between the two layers prior to molding to provide an exceptionally strong and stable product.Type: GrantFiled: August 12, 1974Date of Patent: August 31, 1976Assignee: Verton & WellensiekInventor: Gunther Wellensiek

Patent number: 3977153Abstract: A plastic container for food products and method of making the container, the body of the container thermoformed from a sheet comprising a plurality of layers which are held together in a contiguous structure without being securely bonded together, said layers of the container body functionally secured in place after filling by an interlocking closure. At least one layer provides structural rigidity and a good water vapor barrier and at least one other layer provides a barrier to the transmission of oxygen and a supplementary water vapor barrier. The container is capable of withstanding retort temperatures. Separation of the scrap sheet from which the container body is formed and recycle of separate layer scrap from the container body thermoforming process can be accomplished since the layers forming the container body are not securely bonded together.Type: GrantFiled: July 1, 1974Date of Patent: August 31, 1976Assignee: The Dow Chemical CompanyInventor: Walter J.
