The adherent material, at least in part, bonds the thin-section elements to each other at loci of the adherent material. The bond patterns are arranged and configured to preferentially direct stresses imposed on the bond pattern, inwardly into the interior of the bond pattern for distribution, dissipation, and termination.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for manufacturing a flexible curtain as disclosed and claimed. Edges of a polymeric material are folded back on themselves. A portion of the edges are secured and a portion is left unsecured or free. The flexible curtain is used in a windlocking apparatus to prevent the unwanted intrusion of wind, water and debris into a building opening. The free, or unsecured flap of the folded edge absorbs shock associated with storm disturbances. Edge rollers are used to laminate the edges of the curtains selectively such that only a portion of the edge is secured leaving the flap unsecured. Stitching, ultrasonic welding and gluing are alternative ways and/or additional ways of providing for the securement of a portion of the edge to itself. Perforations are made in the secured portion of the folded edge.

    Abstract: The object of the present invention is an absorbent paper product including at least three plies, and a method of manufacture therefore. The absorbent paper product is of an approximate specific surface weight between 36 and 105 g/m2, and includes at least three plies, namely a central ply and two embossed upper and lower outer plies each including salient patterns composed of at least in part discrete protrusions. The plies are joined by joining at least part of the protrusions of each of the outer plies to the central ply. At least one of the outer plies has a pattern density larger than 30 protrusions/cm2. The embossed lower outer ply (2) includes combined high and low patterns (5 and 7) of respective heights (H) and (h). The central ply (4) and the embossed upper outer ply (3) are joined in the nested mode to the embossed lower outer ply (2) at the level of at least part of the tops of the high pattern (5) of height (H) of the embossed lower outer ply (2).

The composite provides an abrasion resistant, surface stable material for covering floors, walls, furniture and the like.     Abstract: A manufacturing method for plastic bags recombines a layer of plastic to the outside surface of the bag to provide a portion of the outside surface with a lower melting point than the inside surface of the bag. The bags are arranged in stacks and heat is applied to bond the low melting point layer. A relatively weak bond is formed between adjacent outside bag surfaces while the bag inside surfaces remain free of each other. The weak bond is positioned along the median of the bag and near the bag opening. A second bag is drawn open by the bond during retrieval of a first bag. A flexible separation tab is arranged to maintain the separation between the inside surfaces of the open bag. The separation tab may also be made conspicuous to present an obvious retrieval point for the top bag in a hanging bag dispensing arrangement.

    Abstract: A method for manufacturing a motor assembly for an acoustic transducer is provided. The motor assembly includes a base member, a support member, a diaphragm and a backplate. The base member has a surface and a protrusion extending a distance from the surface. The support member is placed on the base member such that the support member contacts the surface of the base member, and the protrusion of the base member contacts the diaphragm. The backplate is placed on the diaphragm such that the backplate is supported by the protrusion. As part of the assembly, the backplate is secured to the support member. By having an assembly wherein the backplate does not contact the diaphragm, the capacitance of the assembly is reduced.
