Patent number: 9005392Abstract: A method of joining substrate portions includes positioning the substrate portions such that the substrate portions overlap at an overlap area. The substrate portions each have a melting temperature and an outer surface. A fluid is heated to a temperature sufficient to at least partially melt the substrate portions. A jet of the heated fluid is directed from a fluid orifice onto the substrate portions at the overlap area. The heated fluid penetrates at least one of the outer surfaces of the substrate portions. The substrate portions are at least partially melted using the heated fluid. The substrate portions are compressed using a pressure applying surface adjacent the fluid orifice to join the substrate portions together at the overlap area.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 2012Date of Patent: April 14, 2015Assignee: The Procter & Gamble CompanyInventors: Uwe Schneider, Horst Blessing, Hans Adolf Jackels

Patent number: 8992714Abstract: A method produces adhesive tapes which are adhesive at least on one side, wherein an adhesive tape web, in which the at least one adhesive side is covered by a first liner, is guided into a cutting device in which a total of N individual adhesive tape strips located next to one another are produced in the machine direction from the adhesive tape web. Every other adhesive tape strip is removed from the first liner and is applied to a second liner in each case having a spacing a between the individual adhesive tape strips. The liners are cut between the adhesive tape strips located on the first liner and on the second liner, and the individual adhesive tapes, together with the liner strips, are wound up in a total of X rolls in a form of an Archimedean spiral.Type: GrantFiled: August 1, 2011Date of Patent: March 31, 2015Assignee: tesa SEInventors: Michael Tach, Bruce Dirk Ehlers, Markus Gabriel, Christian Fröhlich

Publication number: 20150068678Abstract: Method and device for producing a composite material. The method includes feeding at least two semi-finished webs in their respective longitudinal direction, placing one of the at least two semi-finished webs on top of an other of the at least two semi-finished webs, and connecting the at least two semi-finished webs to one another. Each semi-finished web has fibers fixed in a unidirectionally oriented manner, and, in at least one of the at least two semi-finished webs, the fibers enclose a predetermined angle greater than 0° to the longitudinal direction.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 12, 2014Publication date: March 12, 2015Inventors: Rene GLOECKNER, Lutz PANDER, Jan GRUENERT

Publication number: 20140367031Abstract: The invention relates to a method for depositing one- or two-dimensional fiber structures in order to form a two- or three-dimensional fiber structure, in particular a fiber structure in the form of a fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP) or FRP semi-finished product, using a production machine including at least one depositing device and at least one fiber support. The one- or two-dimensional fiber structures have at least one unidirectional fiber layer. The depositing device deposits the one- or two-dimensional fiber structures onto the fiber support in a depositing direction in a controlled manner such that the fiber directions of the deposited one- or two-dimensional fiber structures assume an angle ?>20°, preferably ?>60°, and a maximum of ?=90°, relative to the depositing direction. The one- or two-dimensional fiber structures are deposited on the fiber support in a substantially tension-free manner with respect to the fiber direction of the fiber structures.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 5, 2014Publication date: December 18, 2014Applicants: VOITH PATENT GMBH, AUDI AGInventors: Jaromir Ufer, Marco Göttinger
