Running Or Continuous Webs Of Indefinite Length Patents (Class 156/324)
  • Patent number: 7135088
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of producing packaging material in the form of a continuous laminate web (17) and being of the type which includes a core layer (2) of paper or cardboard whose one face displays a layer (7) which is disposed outside the core layer (2) and includes first an aluminium foil (4) and secondly a plastic coating (16) disposed outside the aluminium foil layer. Throughout its entire surface, the core layer (2) is covered with the above-mentioned layer (7), while along selected portions it extends out over the edges of the core layer (2). The above-mentioned layer (7) is formed in that the aluminium foil (4) and at least one thermoplastic material (6) are laminated to one another by being brought together between two rollers (10, 12) of which the one roller consists of a cooled roller and the other roller consists of a roller which is heated to a temperature exceeding the melting temperature of the thermoplastic.

  • Patent number: 7132033
Abstract: A method of forming a layered polishing pad is disclosed. The method includes double-laminating a subpad on opposing sides with respective adhesive layers and bonding a polishing pad top layer to the subpad via the upper adhesive layer. The polishing pad optionally includes a window. Because the subpad is double-laminated, an opening can be formed through both the top and bottom adhesive layers as well as the subpad. Thus, when bonded to a top polishing pad layer having a window, the result is a layered polishing pad with a through optical path that does not include an adhesive layer.

  • Patent number: 7083691
Abstract: A method for the production of an elastic, air-permeable laminate film is disclosed, whereby material webs made of a fiber non-woven fabric are applied to both sides of an elastomer layer, and the multi-layered material subsequently runs through an ultrasound bonding station. The elastomer layer is melted to form point-shaped bonds at discrete locations by means of ultrasound, while maintaining the substance of the fiber non-woven fabric. An air-permeable structure is formed at the melted sites. According to the method, a melt film made of a thermoplastic elastomer is passed to a laminating unit and introduced, in the thermoplasticized state, between two material webs of fiber non-woven fabric that run into the laminating unit. The melted intermediate layer of the multi-layered material is cooled to solidification temperature, whereby a laminate with cover layers made of fiber non-woven fabric is produced. The laminate is subsequently passed to the ultrasound bonding station.

  • Patent number: 6814829
Abstract: An improved method for the manufacturing of wavy pre-preg material that moves a first group of rollers in a transverse and a longitudinal direction with respect to a second group of rollers, to place a sinuous waveform in a fiber reinforced matrix for the manufacture of a wavy pre-preg material. The fabrication of wavy fiber pre-preg (fibers pre-impregnated with epoxy resin as an example) can be accomplished with an automated control system that permits the creation of non-periodic or mixed waveforms. The improved apparatus for this process allows for a more accurate placement of fibers, production of a wider variety of usable waveforms, and increased quality of pre-preg produced.

  • Patent number: 6808588
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a continuous process for making floor mats having a textile upper surface and a rubber or rubber-like backing. In the one embodiment of the present process, a continuous roll of unvulcanized rubber is joined to a continuous roll of textile material during vulcanization. In an alternate embodiment, textile panels are positioned onto a continuous roll of unvulcanized rubber, later being joined during vulcanization. After vulcanization of either a textile roll or textile panels to a rubber backing, the resultant mat composite is cut into individual mat units.
