Deformable Pad Patents (Class 156/493)
  • Patent number: 4373978
Abstract: A device and method for bonding closure tapes to opposite sides of a container end with one tape having a heat activatabel adhesive. The heat activatable adhesive is applied by a heated substantially planar bonding surface and the second tape having a pressure-sensitive adhesive is applied by compressed air acting against the tape to press the tape to the container end and into the preformed opening against the first tape.

  • Patent number: 4337105
Abstract: A system is provided for applying a force to selected compliant material ch is in adjacent relationship with the inner surface of a rigid spherical segment. The system includes an elastomeric spherical segment having an apex and a radius of curvature which is less than the radius of curvature of the inner surface of the rigid spherical segment when the elastomeric segment is in an undeformed condition. Operative structure is provided for initially spacing the elastomeric segment from the rigid spherical segment, so that the elastomeric segment is in point contact relationship with the compliant material, and for controllably urging the elastomeric segment toward the compliant material after the initial spacing, until the curvature of the elastomeric segment is conformed to the curvature of the inner surface of the spherical segment.

  • Patent number: 4316762
Abstract: The invention provides apparatus for labelling containers such as bottles and for placing groups of the containers in a crate. A labelling station includes an arm having at least two label-engaging portions separated by resilient neck portions which permit flexing as labels are placed on the container by the label-engaging portions. Also a bottle delivery system is provided having guide elements for grouping in fours. Each group guides a bottle into a pocket of a crate.

  • Patent number: 4132583
Abstract: An applicator automatically applies strip-mounted labels very precisely to both flat and curved objects. As each object is brought into position, a special pressure foot immediately applies a label already positioned on the foot to the object and the foot is designed to press the label against the object over the entire area of the label. As each object moves out of position, the label strip is advanced over a stripper plate by a preset amount as determined by an inductive label edge sensor. Simultaneously with this, the pressure foot momentarily swings toward the stripper plate and picks up the next label being peeled from the strip to ready the applicator for the next cycle.
