  • Patent number: 6789593
Abstract: A combination hole punching and reinforcing device for punching holes in sheets of paper and other sheet materials applies flat reinforcement rings about holes formed in those sheets concurrently as the holes are formed. The device employs a die punch, which is preferably configured as a disposable item that is detachable from the lower end of the punching ram. The die punch is configured with a punching tip at its lower extremity and a shank that is preferably narrower than the punching tip. A plurality of reinforcement rings are stacked one atop each other and are carried upon a shoulder formed at the demarcation between the die punch tip and the die punch shank. A transverse pressure plate located atop the shank applies pressure to sequentially affix the lowermost reinforcement ring in the stack to a sheet of paper concurrently with the formation of an aperture through that sheet.

  • Patent number: 6234230
Abstract: A device that continuously applies self-adhesive handles to moving articles using a pivotable paddle that can rotate approximately 180 degrees from a vertical stopped position. The rotation of the paddle is synchronized with the movement of the articles so that an adhesive tape can be applied to a moving article by placing a first end of the tape on a downstream face of the article, and a second end of the tape is applied to an upstream face of the article, thereby forming a handle on the article. Clamps are used to temporarily connect the paddle to the tape as well as pull the tape while a knife is used for cutting the tape.

  • Patent number: 5078826
Abstract: A labelling machine for cylindrical containers which are moved past a labelling station by a rotary table and which rotate past the front side of a label stack and thereby remove a front side label. A hot adhesive is sprayed onto the container by a first adhesive unit. During the rolling of the container past the label stack, a label is adhered to the front edge of the container. The rear edge of the label has adhesive applied by a second adhesive unit which is located near the labels which are stored in the stack. In order to make possible a change between different container formats, the label box, the first adhesive unit and the second adhesive unit are mounted on a common sliding carriage. The sliding carriage is a translatable in the direction of the rotary table and is pretensioned in the direction of the rotary table by a spring against a stop.

  • Patent number: 4643795
Abstract: This invention relates to a method and device for applying an object (11), e.g. an antibiotic patch onto a receiving adhesive surface (19), e.g. an agar surface. The objects (11) are piled in a storage container (10), which is upwardly open, and the receiving surface (19) located above this is turned downwards. For application of the object (11) onto the surface (19) the whole pile is lifted towards the surface while the storage container (10) is not moved so that the uppermost object in the pile is pressed against and adheres to the receiving surface (19), after which the pile is lowered again.
