Labelling Flat, Essentially Rigid Surfaces (1/100) Patents (Class 156/DIG1)
  • Patent number: 6123796
Abstract: A combination of a preprinted pressure sensitive label and an electronic article security system target is provided, preferably as a supply of labels on a backing material web with the target between. The labels preferably extend about at least about 1/8th inch around the edge of the target to directly adhere to the products. Articles may be selectively marked with targets so concealed to deter theft with fewer targets. The combinations may be formed by applying first the target, then the label, to the article. Preferably, label and target combinations are supplied on a web and are then applied to the products. Combination label and target supplies may be formed by separating the preprinted labels from their backing material webs, applying the targets to either the label or the backing material, and then combining the label with either the same backing material web or a different one.

  • Patent number: 6017408
Abstract: Smearing of indicia (30,36) or deterioration of a label may be eliminated in a label form that provides protection for the imaging (30,36) in a construction that includes a sheet of transparent face stock (12), a layer of transparent pressure sensitive adhesive (14) on one side of the face stock sheet (12) and a sheet of transparent release liner (10) releasably adhered to the one side of the face stock sheet (12) by the adhesive (14). A die cut (18) is located in the release liner sheet (10) and defines a first removable frame section (20) and a second label defining section (22). The first section (20) surrounds the second section (22) so that when removed, a pattern of the adhesive (14) will be exposed. Reverse image printing (30) is disposed on the release liner second section (22).

  • Patent number: 5968303
Abstract: A label is supplied from a label supplier to a rotating suction drum. The supplied label is absorbed on the suction drum and conveyed to a label sticking station. During conveyance of the label, passage time of the label at a predetermined point is measured, and a first shifting amount of the label relative to a label conveying direction is calculated. A standby position of the work in the label conveying direction is altered based on the first shifting amount. Further, during conveyance of the label, its location relative to a perpendicular direction to the label conveying direction is detected, and a second shifting amount of the label relative to the perpendicular direction is calculated. A standby position of the work in the perpendicular direction is altered based on the second shifting amount. The position of the work is adjusted to the label so that the label is stuck on the work with great accuracy.

  • Patent number: 5925200
Abstract: A compact disc labeling device for manual application of a label to a compact disc includes an assembly having a circumferential flange with an upper flange surface, a piston, a first rod having a diameter approximately equal to the diameter of the label's central aperture and that extends from the upper surface of the piston, and a second rod having a diameter approximately equal to the diameter of the disc's central aperture and that extends from the first rod. In use, a label is placed on the flange with the first rod projecting through its central aperture and the disc positioned on the second rod through its central aperture. When the piston is moved from an upper first position to a lower second position, the disc is applied to the label.

  • Patent number: 5904804
Abstract: A method of wrapping labels about batteries comprising the steps of peeling off individual labels provisionally glued on a band-shaped base paper, holding the individual labels on the surface of a continuously rotating label drum using suction forces applied trough holes or passages on the surface of the label suction drum, and wrapping the labels on the label suction drum on the outer circumference of rotating batteries continuously supplied by a battery conveying table. The apparatus of the invention comprises a battery conveying table for rotatably conveying batteries to a predetermined position for receiving the label, a label drum for holding the labels by suction forces and conveying the labels to the predetermined position, and a battery rotation belt for rotating the batteries while pressing the label to the outer circumference of the battery after the label is positioned by the suction drum, and wrapping the label to the outer circumference of the battery by rotating the battery.

  • Patent number: 5807457
Abstract: An apparatus and method for applying correction strips with encodable indicia to bank checks and similar documents and for removing previously applied correction strips from checks and reapplying a new correction strip to such a check. The apparatus includes feed mechanism for feeding checks without previously applied correction strips and with previously applied correction strips along parallel feed paths which merge to a common feed path provided by plural endless flexible belts. A rotatable drum is interposed in the common feedpath and is disposed in proximity to a heater element engageable with a heat activatable adhesive band portion of the correction strip for applying the adhesive band to the front lower face of bank checks and similar documents. A rotary cutter is disposed in one of the parallel feed paths for cutting a previously applied correction strip from the lower edge of a check.

  • Patent number: 4300979
Abstract: AlPO.sub.4 crystals are isomorphic with quartz and are expected therefore to have several crystal orientations in which the elastic (piezoelectric) constants are relatively insensitive to temperature. The piezoelectric coupling coefficients of AlPO.sub.4 are approximately three times those of quartz. Hydrothermal growth techniques to date have been marginal, and all have employed H.sub.3 PO.sub.4 as the hydrothermal solution. We describe using HCl as the hydrothermal solution and demonstrate the superiority of HCl from the standpoint of solubility and consequent crystal growth rate.
