  • Patent number: 9573098
Abstract: This invention concerns a method for desalination of sea water and a design and construction of a centrifugal filter for desalination of water. The process uses the filter developed based on reverse osmosis technology as a fundamental component that uses hollow fiber membrane modules arranged in a spiral manner around a central support pipe and distributed in concentric rings around the periphery of the rotating section to favor the formation of Dean vortices. Wherein the membrane is built with a structure of an aromatic polyamide as the first layer, followed by a layer of polyestersulfone and a support layer of polyester; applying the material Kevlar 49 in position 1 and 4 on the aromatic chain structure to increase the structure and resistance of the membrane.

  • Patent number: 8951421
Abstract: For purifying a liquid, the liquid is caused to evaporate in a cyclone in a recirculation circuit. Vapor is discharged via a discharge channel in which a compressor is included. In a heat exchanger downstream of the compressor, supplied vapor condenses and heat thereby released is transferred to liquid in the recirculation circuit. A liquid inlet of the cyclone is placed and directed for delivering a jet having a directional component tangential with respect to an inner surface of the cyclone. The liquid inlet has a section shaped such that in operation the delivered jet is a flat jet having a cross section which in a direction parallel to a nearest generatrix of the inner surface of the cyclone is greater than in a direction perpendicular thereto. The jet contacts the inner surface of the cyclone before drop formation occurs in the jet. A method for purifying a liquid is also described.

Abstract: A method for fabricating a super-hydrophobic surface having excellent surface strength and an evaporator having the super-hydrophobic surface fabricated by the method are provided. The method includes preparing a metal base material, anodizing the metal base material to form a ceramic layer having a complex structure of a microstructure and nano-fiber structures on a surface of the metal base material, and applying a hydrophobic polymer material on the complex structure to form a polymer layer having the same surface shape as the complex structure.

  • Patent number: 8518212
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide an apparatus or process for devolatilization of flowable materials (such as molten polymers with entrained or dissolved solvent or unreacted monomers or comonomers) using a plate heater having heating channels, the design or operation of which heating channels maintains the flowable material above its bubble point pressure during passage through a larger first zone and then induces flashing in, or downstream of, a smaller second zone of the heating channel. The apparatus enables a higher throughput per heating channel while achieving equivalent or better devolatilization, as compared to current devolatilization apparatus.

  • Patent number: 7967946
Abstract: An improved boiler that allows distillation of ethanol from a continuous flow of a hydrous feedstock compound, which may be beer or other semi-solid substance. The internal compartment of the boiler is separated into different zones by a plurality of primary baffle plates and secondary baffle plates. The hydrous feedstock compound is heated as it passes from one zone to another zone and ethanol inside the hydrous feedstock compound vaporizes. The ethanol rich vapor is channeled through a collector column and then collected for further processing. The temperature of the hydrous feedstock compound is slightly different from one zone to another zone because of ethanol concentration changes as the hydrous feedstock compound moves from one zone to another. At the last zone, where most of ethanol is removed, the remaining hydrous feedstock compound is removed from the boiler.

  • Patent number: 7575656
Abstract: A system that treats wastewater by subjecting it to a heat source and destroying the microbes present therein and disposes of the wastewater to the atmosphere through evaporation. The components of the system are designed for in-ground or below-grade placement for aesthetic purposes and to eliminate a need for separate structures for housing or enclosing the system. The system does not generate a discharge as part of its regular operation and thus eliminates the need for disposal to an on-site feature or public sewer utility.

  • Patent number: 6878342
Abstract: An apparatus for evaporating liquid samples contained in sample holders mounted within a chamber and by rotated by the rotor during an evaporation process in which the pressure in the chamber is reduced below atmospheric and the sample holders are rotated at high speed so as to exert centrifugal force on the contents of the holders. Heat is supplied to elevate the temperature of the liquid component of the samples to assist in the evaporation process. The temperature of the sample material is continuously or regularly monitored during the evaporation process and temperature signals are transmitted to a remote computing means which is programmed to generate a control signal for controlling the supply of heat to the samples and controlling the evaporation process. The temperature may be sensed by a probe in a sample holder containing an evaporating liquid sample, or in an adjoining sample holder containing a buffer liquid. The rotational speed is also sensed and a speed signal conveyed to the computing means.

  • Publication number: 20040000379
Abstract: An evaporation source of the present invention has; a storage receptacle for accommodating an evaporation material, a cover member arranged thereabove and provided with a through hole, and a protective plate arranged beneath the through hole, and positioned with a rim portion outside of the periphery of the through hole. The cover member and the protective plate can be heated together. Even if the evaporation material melts and flies out in droplet form or solid particle form, the droplets or solid particles which fly out adhere to at least one of the cover member and the protective plate, and are then heated and vaporized. Therefore, the evaporation material does not fly out to outside the evaporation source in droplet form or solid particle form. Consequently, there is no deterioration in film quality, and the interior of the apparatus is not contaminated with the droplets or solid particles.
