  • Patent number: 11161594
Abstract: A flap support mounting assembly employs a flap support having at least one laterally-oriented upper coupling and a pair of laterally-oriented lower couplings. A fail-safe pin engages the at least one laterally-oriented upper coupling to an upper rear-spar fitting. A pair of frangible pins engages the lower couplings to a pair of lower rear-spar fittings. The frangible pins are configured to shear and enable the flap support to rotate upwards about the fail-safe pin in response to a load induced on the flap support that creates a moment inducing a sufficient shear force to shear the frangible pins. The fail-safe pin is configured to shear allowing separation of the flap support and associated flap from the wing in a manner that inhibits damage to a rear spar and integral fuel tank in a wing structure.

  • Patent number: 10151317
Abstract: A vacuum system securing device to releasably secure a sealed connection between a first part and a second part of a vacuum system has a shaft having a longitudinal axis and is provided with a plurality of force applying members. The shaft is to be attached to the first part of the vacuum system to define a gap between the first part and the force applying members to receive the second part by a movement of the second part in a lengthways direction of the shaft. The shaft is movable relative to the first part to cause the force applying members to narrow the gap to apply a force pressing the second part towards the first part.

  • Patent number: 6799352
Abstract: A hinge assembly which creates a zero backlash situation. The base member has multiple seats, each having two contact ridges. The contact ridges are formed by an intersection of two planes (ideally substantially ninety degrees). A ball interconnect is engaged by the contact ridges of the seat on one side and a similar arrangement of contact seats on the other side (the hinge member). The diameter of the ball interconnect is larger than the distances between the contact ridges. By sandwiching the ball interconnect between the contact ridges of the base member and the contact ridges of the hinge member, a zero backlash is created in which firm and positive contact is maintained between the elements of the hinge.

  • Patent number: 5008976
Abstract: A hinge assembly has a plurality of rollers which are pressed against an elastic washer by a shaft. The rollers and elastic washer are contained within a cylindrical retainer which is held in a fixed position relative to a first bracket, while the shaft is held in a fixed position relative to a second bracket so that, when either or both the first and second brackets are moved relative to each other, the roller move around the outside diameter of the shaft resisted by the elastic washer, providing a smooth resistance to the movement of the first bracket and/or second bracket relative to the other. An electronic digital device, having a display section with an adjustable viewing angle utilizing the improved hinge assembly, is shown in which the hinge assembly provides a smooth resistance for the movement of the display section relative to the base of the device.

  • Patent number: 4864690
Abstract: A laterally swinging hinge, which can longitudinally turn back and forth at an angle of approximately 315.degree., and which is to be mounted on an ordinary door or automobile door; the hinge can also have a laterally swinging angle of at least 5.degree. in either direction so as to eliminate the possible trouble and drawbacks caused by the conventional hinge upon installing two or more than two hinges on one door and upon the center line of the two hinges not being aligned exactly; in that case, the conventional hinges can suffer from a bad friction or cause the door to be bent or unable to be operated normally. The hinge mainly comprises a set of hinge butts, a center shaft being inserted through the cylinder of the hinge butts; the center shaft is substantially a slender cylinder including a ball-shaped part in the mid portion thereof, an upper rod and a lower rod for holding the two butts.

  • Patent number: 4494275
Abstract: A swinging door hinge assembly comprises a primary hinge and a secondary hinge. By way of an axle rotating on a staircase-shaped axle seat in the primary hinge, the door can be opened in either direction, slowly closed, or opened at a wide angle for a long time. The secondary hinge includes an inner and an outer eccentric axle bushing by which the secondary hinge can automatically adjust its axis to be in alignment with that of the primary hinge, i.e., in a co-axial alignment in case of the door hinge assembly generating any eccentric condition. Otherwise, the door cannot be operated smoothly in case the two hinges are not co-axially aligned. The door hinge assembly may be easily assembled or disassembled, between the left and right side primary hinge pieces, and also between the left and right side secondary hinge pieces.
