Abstract: A glide movement controller for use with a hinge connection that includes a shaft, as well as a hinge connection and a power saw including such a controller. The glide movement controller includes a generally U-shaped controller body configured to move towards the shaft in a first direction such that resistance upon the shaft is increased and away from the shaft in a second direction such that resistance upon the shaft is decreased; a pair of apertures extending through the controller body; and an interior bearing surface defined on the controller body. The interior bearing surface is configured and arranged to face the shaft. In certain embodiments, at least a portion of the interior bearing surface is located between the apertures.

Abstract: A hinge connection between first and second links, including a shaft; a threaded aperture formed within an end portion of the shaft; and a pair of bearings. The hinge connection may optionally include a spacer surrounding the shaft. In addition, there is also a bushing surrounding the end portion of the shaft. A threaded fastening member is inserted into the threaded aperture of the shaft. Upon insertion and tightening of the threaded fastening member, any axial gap between the first bearing and the bushing is eliminated. Also disclosed is a hinge connection with a split shaft, including two cantilever shafts, where a main axial portion of each cantilever shaft is seated within a bore of the first link; and a pair of bearings, where an inner portion of each of the cantilever shafts is rotatably seated within one of the bearings.

Abstract: An adjustable friction hinge with a first hinge portion with two spaced apart first hinge knuckles and second hinge portion having a second hinge knuckle with rotatably fit together. A barrel bushing is non-rotatably positioned in the second hinge knuckle. A friction bushing is slidably and non-rotatably located in openings in the two first hinge knuckles. A threaded compression nut, and a non-threaded compression nut are located in the two spaced apart first hinge knuckles. A screw passes through the non-threaded compression nut, the spaced apart first hinge knuckles, the second hinge knuckle, the two friction bushings, and into the threaded compression nut. When the screw is tightened, the threaded and non-threaded compression nuts force the two frictional bushing into frictional contact with the barrel bushing to increase a force required to move the first hinge portion and the second hinge portion relative to each other.

Abstract: A hinge includes a first leaf, a second leaf, and a pivot shaft. The pivot shaft includes a first pivot pin pivotably mounted to the first leaf and a second pivot pin pivotably mounted to the second leaf. A friction between the second leaf and the pivot shaft is smaller than a friction between the first leaf and the pivot shaft. The pivot shaft forms a ledge, and the second leaf correspondingly forms a tab to engage with the ledge. Upon the condition that the tab engages with the ledge such that the pivot shaft can rotate with the second leaf, a larger twisting force is needed for the second leaf, together with the pivot shaft, to rotate relative to the first leaf due to the larger friction between the first leaf and the pivot shaft.

One end of the first knuckle forms an engaging portion, and the second leaf correspondingly forms a tab to engage with the engaging portion. Upon the condition that the tab engages with the engaging portion such that the first knuckle can rotate with the second leaf, a larger twisting force is needed for the second leaf, together with the first knuckle, to rotate relative to the pivot shaft due to further overcome a friction between the first knuckle and the pivot shaft.
