  • Patent number: 4717216
Abstract: The invention is an enclosure for containing several printed circuit boards. Detechable brackets for mounting the enclosure to a rack, detachable latching door hinges and a combination of detachable members are assembled in an improved housing for detachably enclosing mounted printed circuit boards and other modular components and includes a base, a cover having a top and depending sides provided with slots; and vertical card guide brackets and a pivotable door. These detachable members are formed so as to to latch together into an integral assembly. The door when pivoted to the open position is held as a tray in the horizontal plane of the base and does not drop below the base, with a peripheral rim of the door serving as sides of the tray.

  • Patent number: 4703539
Abstract: Cabinet hinge whose jamb-related part in the form of an arm can be fastened at selectable positions along the length of a mounting plate attached to a jamb on a cabinet carcase by sliding it onto the mounting plate and then tightening a screw. The mounting plate has a spring catch element which as the installation of the arm begins snaps into a corresponding cutout or recess in the arm of the hinge and thus screws it against accidental withdrawal from the mounting plate, without interfering with its further movement for the purpose of a longitudinal adjustment of the arm on the mounting plate. The spring catch has a prolongation brought out of an opening in the cabinet-interior end of the mounting plate, and this prolongation can be shifted resiliently such that the cooperating abutments of the spring catch and opening become disengaged from one another.

Abstract: A plastic part has a broad surface area for solvent bonding to another plastic part; the bonding surface has a groove, recess, or non-dissolvable portion for restricting the solvent to a narrow marginal edge area for uniform distribution. In one embodiment, a plastic hinge (FIG. 2) and two hinged members (64,66) are pivotally interconnected by the leaves. Grooves (52, 54) are formed on the mating surface of hinge halves. These grooves define and isolate marginal portions (56, 58) on the faces of the leaves from inner portions (60, 62). The grooves act as barriers to prevent penetration of a solvent, used for bonding the hinge leaves to the two hinged members, from the inner support portions of the leaves. When the solvent is injected into the area of contact between the mating plastic parts from the outer edge of each hinge element, e.g., by a syringe, it wets and dissolves the marginal portions and the underlying areas of the two hinged members but is restricted to the marginal areas by the grooves.

Abstract: In the hinge bracket-mounting plate assembly the mounting plate is provided on both sides with parallel guiding grooves, in which sliding lugs angled inwardly from the flanges of the channel-shaped hinge bracket are slidable as far as stops formed by end faces of the grooves, and detents are provided for releasably locking the hinge bracket to the mounting plate. The mounting bracket is formed with a recess, which extends transversely to and connects the guiding grooves. Two sliding plates are provided, which overlap each other in the middle region of the mounting plate and are guided in the recess and formed with two substantially diagonal slots, which cross each other and extend between parts of diagonally opposite corner portions of respective sliding plates. The mounting plate is formed in its center plane between the guiding grooves with a bore, which is parallel to said grooves.

  • Patent number: 4417366
Abstract: The mounting plate has a track for slidably guiding the hinge bracket in an axial direction and a bore for longitudinally slidably guiding a spring-loaded detent pin, which protrudes from the bore and is held captive therein by at least one stop in the surface defining the bore. The hinge bracket has a sloping surface, which is arranged to force the detent pin into the bore as the hinge bracket is slidably moved onto the mounting plate. The hinge bracket also has a surface which as the hinge bracket is pushed over the detent pin holds the latter in a depressed position until the detent pin snaps into a detent opening of the hinge bracket so that the latter is releasably fixed. A locking mechanism of the type used in retractable ball point pens is provided and is adapted to lock the detent pin in two different (partly extended and fully extended) positions. The pin is adapted to be moved from one of said positions to the other in that the detent pin is depressed into the bore and then released.

  • Patent number: 4376324
Abstract: An articulated hinge for pivotally connecting a door flap to the carcass of a piece of furniture which has spaced carcass walls and a frame facing the door and extending essentially at right angles to the carcass walls and confining a free door opening, while the door flap in closed position partially overlaps the frame. The hinge has a carcass-related part connected to the edge surface of the frame offset inwardly relative to the adjacent carcass wall, and a door-related part connected to the door flap and pivotally connected to the carcass-related part via a link mechanism. The door-related part is in the form of an insert cup with a connecting part fittingly inserted into a recess in the backside of the door flap, and a link carrier part which has a portion interlocking with the connecting part.

Abstract: A hinge structure for pivotally connecting a hood or bonnet of an automobile to the automobile for selectively opening and closing an automobile engine compartment of a front body structure of the automobile including a first hinge bracket having one end portion rigidly secured to a stiffening plate which is in turn secured to the hood, and a second hinge bracket having one end portion rigidly secured to a radiator shroud which is in turn secured to the front body structure. The other end portions of the respective first and second hinge brackets are pivotally connected by means of a hinge pin. Each of the first and second hinge brackets is of generally a U-shaped cross-section.

  • Patent number: 4365385
Abstract: A hinge arrangement for a record player to properly distribute the load over a glass cover and avoid imposing an unduly large load around the mounting holes. There is provided a cover retainer with a pair of hinge plates having side plate portions which define a receiving space for a pair of anchoring lugs and a hinge pin, on one of said hinge plates. The side portions on the other hinge plate are received by and fixed in said defined space and retained at the center point by the anchoring lugs so as to prevent the other hinge plate from rotating back away from the one hinge plate. Attaching screws are provided on one of said hinge plates for fixing the cover inserted in the cover retainer.

  • Patent number: 4365386
Abstract: A hinge for mounting a door to a door jamb in hinged relationship in a construction wherein the door and door jamb are formed from a longitudinally grooved frame wherein the elements forming the hinge can be fitted within the accommodating longitudinal grooves of said frame to provide the hinged relationship. Both of the hinge elements and frame are cut from longer lengths of extrudate metal stock. The hinge segments are of corresponding cross-section, each including tubular portions which can be fitted together in tandem and pivotally attached or pinned one segment to another, and key portions constituting male members capable of mating with accommodating female slots located in the frame to provide the hinged relationship between the door and door jamb.
