Patent number: 6619709Abstract: The invention relates to a door handle, comprising a handle located on the visible side of the door and a support (10) for said handle which is fixed onto the reverse side of the door. The handle has connecting elements at both extremities which penetrate recesses in the door, whereby one extremity is connected to a lever (13′) which is mounted on a pivoting support (10). A housing which can contain a locking cylinder is inserted into the support (10) next to the handle. According to the invention, in order to simplify the assembly of the handle, a retaining element (25) is positioned between the support (10) and the lever (13′) which, in its usual active retaining position, secures the lever in a defined pivoted position, pointing outwards. The handle can be connected easily to the lever in this pivoted position. However, when the housing is inserted into the support, the retaining element (25) is displaced into its inactive position, where it releases the lever (13′).Type: GrantFiled: June 3, 2002Date of Patent: September 16, 2003Assignee: Huf Hülsbeck & Fürst GmbH & Co. Patent number: 6601270Abstract: A handle (10) supported pivotably but axially tight on an installation body (20) has a polygonal bar (30) mounted for rotation within a handle neck (12) for actuating a closing mechanism. Two drivers (15, 35) movable relative to each other are engageable in a non-positive and/or a positive way between neighboring surfaces (17, 37) either directly or by means of coupling elements (36, 40, 42) so that a torque transmission from the handle (10) to the polygonal bar (30) is free but is blocked from the polygonal bar (30) to the handle (10) as at least one coupling element (36) is displaced in the direction of the attack. A main portion of a polygonal driver (35) may be concentrically enclosed by a two-shell handle driver (15) having wings (52) with front faces (19) which drive e.g. pairs of spring-loaded roller pins (36) held in a wedge-shaped confining zone (55). Corner areas of indentations (31) of the polygonal driver (35) serve to attack the roller pins (36).Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 2001Date of Patent: August 5, 2003Assignee: Hoppe AGInventors: Martin Eckhardt, Reinhold Reitz, Helmut Alber, Frank Debus, Bernhard Schaub

Patent number: 6594861Abstract: In some preferred embodiments of the present invention, a fastener on a door handle assembly having a door handle is moved by actuation of the door handle into a position in which the fastener connects the door handle assembly to the door. The door handle is preferably capable of transmitting door handle actuation force to the fastener to move the fastener. In one preferred embodiment, this force is transmitted by camming action against a sliding member to which the fastener is connected. In another embodiment, this force is transmitted by pulling a sliding member with links connected to the handle. The movable fastener can connect with a second fastener connected to the door handle assembly or to the door. Therefore, when the movable fastener is moved by actuation of the handle, the movable fastener can connect with the second fastener to secure the door handle assembly to the door.Type: GrantFiled: July 20, 2001Date of Patent: July 22, 2003Assignee: Strattec Security CorporationInventors: Steven J. In the stowed position, the grip section is retained within the pocket. In the extended position, the grip section is extended from the pocket. The force of gravity causes the handle to move between the stowed position and extended position as the lift gate is closed and opened, respectfully. A tail gate has handle that is rotatable mounted within a tail gate handle recess pocket.Type: GrantFiled: February 24, 2000Date of Patent: May 14, 2002Assignee: Lear CorporationInventors: Jason P. Patent number: 6375291Abstract: A door handle device for a refrigerator enables the refrigerator door to be easily opened and makes transporting and storage of the refrigerator easier and more efficient. The door handle device includes upper and lower operating levers respectively mounted on the top and bottom surfaces of the door. A vertically disposed door handle is connected at opposite ends to the respective operating levers. Upper and lower supporting mechanisms, provided respectively on the top and bottom surfaces of the door, rotatably support the operating levers. The ends of each of the operating levers are located on opposite sides of the center line Y—Y of the associated lever so that a rotating moment is applied to the operating lever when the associated door is opened. Each operating lever includes two members and a connecting arrangement for the lever members which permits the door handle to be repositioned to a location adjacent to the refrigerator door so as to decrease the effective depth of the refrigerator.Type: GrantFiled: July 25, 2000Date of Patent: April 23, 2002Assignee: Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.Inventors: Jeong-Man Nam, Cha-Soo Yoon

Patent number: 6367124Abstract: The door handle assembly includes a door handle which pivots about a pivot axis. A molded-in gear rack is formed on the door handle. The gears of the molded-in gear rack mesh with gears of a rotational damper so that the door handle pivots in concert with the rotation of the gears of the rotational damper. Furthermore, the rotational damper is generally cylindrical and further includes two pairs of radially outwardly extending wings. The rotational damper passes through an aperture in a damper support plate and the first pair of radially outwardly extending wings engage a first side of the damper support plate and engage or abut detent elements. The second pair of radially outwardly extending wings engage a second side of the damper support plate and limit the insertion of the damper through the damper support plate.Type: GrantFiled: September 9, 1999Date of Patent: April 9, 2002Assignee: Illinois Tool Works Inc.Inventors: Joseph J. Patent number: 6357808Abstract: An operating fitting for a sliding door or window panel includes an adjustable fixing member which includes a rotary clamping member which bears on a location other than a visible face of a cover plate so as not to be visible on the corresponding visible face of a structural member. The rotary clamping member produces a force clamping the cover plate against the corresponding visible wall of the structural member or operates or immobilizes a system for producing a force of this kind.Type: GrantFiled: February 25, 2000Date of Patent: March 19, 2002Assignee: Ferco International Ferrures et Serrures de BatimentInventor: Thierry Supernat

Patent number: 6353971Abstract: Touchless door pull apparatus comprising an engagement slot on a door, and a cooperating hand tool. The slot and hand tool are cooperatively configured such that the hand tool can be engaged with an engagement surface associated with the slot, temporarily coupling the hand tool and the door to each other. The hand tool is then pulled away from the door, thus to open the door without touching the door. The slot can be part of a door accessory mounted on the door, or can be fabricated into the door structure. As an accessory, the door pull apparatus comprises a pull base for mounting on the door. The pull base and hand tool have first and second engagement elements, cooperatively configured such that the first and second engagement elements can be engaged, thus to temporarily couple the hand tool and the pull base to each other.Type: GrantFiled: March 27, 2000Date of Patent: March 12, 2002Assignee: Sanikey, LLCInventor: Jeffrey Robert Krawczyk

Patent number: 6349450Abstract: A door handle for a door of a vehicle includes a handle portion and a housing or base portion. Preferably, the handle portion is assembled to the base portion by a snap fit of a pair of snap clasps onto a corresponding pair of axles or cross members attached to the housing. The snap clasps engage the cross members via a tapered opening to guide the cross members into the snap clasps, thereby easing the assembly process of the handle assembly. The snap clasps are snapped onto the cross members marked by an audible click to pivotally secure the handle portion to the housing, such that pivotal movement of the handle relative to the housing may be operable to open the door of the vehicle. Preferably, a biasing member is included to bias the handle portion toward its closed position relative to the housing, while the handle and the housing comprise polymeric materials.Type: GrantFiled: June 20, 2000Date of Patent: February 26, 2002Assignee: Donnelly CorporationInventors: Roger L.
