  • Patent number: 8573438
Abstract: This application relates to the field of removable handles for cookware. The use of a single interchangeable and removable handle with different pieces of cookware has several advantages. One advantage is that the overall assembly is much smaller to store, as the handle may be removed and stored in a separate location, reducing the overall size of the assembly. In addition, a single handle may be utilized for multiple cooking vessels as it is common for only one handle to be utilized at a single time. Even though multiple cooking vessels may be used simultaneously, the handle is only utilized for repositioning or stabilizing the cooking vessel. In this way, when no cooking vessel is in use, only one handle need be stored, rather than separate (possibly attached) handles for each article of cookware.

  • Patent number: 8276507
Abstract: An improved pressure cooker design including a two-piece handle utilizing a common connection point to a cover to increase resistance to damage due to over tightening of connecting screws while simultaneously allowing the use of a conventional handle size with a reduction in overall packaging size. The two-piece handle design includes a cover base portion and a cover grip portion wherein a pair of nuts are mounted within the cover base portion to receive coupling screws at both ends of the nuts for joining the cover and the cover grip portion to the cover base portion. Tightening of the coupling screws provides for continuous metal on metal contact eliminating damage to weaker polymeric materials while allowing a consumer to quickly and easily attach the cover grip portion of the two-piece handle to the cover base portion at a point of use so as reduce overall packaging dimensions.

  • Patent number: 8251248
Abstract: An apparatus for facilitating manual movement of a trash container having an upwardly opening container component with a pair of handles, a set of wheels, and a lid, includes an elongated apparatus or “tool” for the user to attach to the handles. A mid section of the tool engages the handles, an upwardly extending upper section provides a lever arm for the user to grasp, and a downwardly extending lower section contacts the container component in opposition to pivotal movement of the object about the handle axis. Preferably, a lid-restraining section is included that restrains pivotal movement of the lid about its hinges when the trash container is tilted on the wheels and moved. A first embodiment hooks onto the handles. A second embodiment includes a bifurcated mid section that engages the handles by extending downwardly through the spaces between the handles and the container component.

  • Patent number: 8152012
Abstract: A handle for gripping a container includes a circumferential portion and a plurality of arm portions. The circumferential portion defines an opening configured to receive therethrough, along an axis of the opening, a container such that the circumferential portion surrounds and grips the container in an interference fit therewith. A plurality of arm portions integral with the circumferential portion extend therefrom in a radial direction relative to the axis of the opening of the circumferential portion. Each of the plurality of arm portions defines an opening configured to receive therethrough one or more fingers of hand for gripping engagement of the handle by the hand, whereby the arm portion defines a handle grip for handling the container.
