  • Patent number: 11131134
Abstract: There is provided a hinge arm damper mechanism that reliably achieves a damper effect corresponding to a braking force of an elastic member. The hinge arm damper mechanism is configured to include a pinion gear, a pair of racks and, two sets of heavy load springs and, a pair of slide bars and, and a housing. The housing includes a box-shaped case and a plate-shaped cover. The case accommodates the pinion gear, the pair of racks and, the two sets of heavy load springs and, and the pair of slide bars and. A rotational torque applied to a hinge arm is transmitted to the racks and via a rotational motion of the pinion gear, and is converted into a linear motion of the racks and. The linear motion of the racks and is reliably braked by the respective springs and.

Abstract: A hydraulic drive for a sash of a door, a gate, a window or the like comprises a housing and a piston which is displaceably guided in the housing and which divides the interior of the housing into a pressure chamber and a non-pressurized chamber. In this case, the drive, which can in particular be a hydraulic door closer, comprises a regulating valve which is arranged on the end face of the housing delimiting the pressure chamber on the side facing away from the piston and which is integrated in particular in a housing cover for activating an impact function. The regulating valve has a valve member which is displaceable between a closed position and an open position in a valve bore of a valve housing formed in particular by the housing cover, is impinged on in the closing direction by the pressure in the pressure chamber and can be transferred into the open position thereof by the spring force of a spring unit when the pressure in the pressure chamber falls below a predeterminable limit pressure.

  • Patent number: 5206971
Abstract: A door closer has a fluid conduit connecting the high pressure portion of the cylinder in front of the piston with a cavity between the surfaces of the cylinder wall and the piston. This cavity is located at the intermediate lateral surface of the piston at the back side of a gear rack formed on the piston. The variable lateral bias provided by the pressurized cavity counteracts separating forces between the gear rack and a gear pinion caused by the tapered teeth. This decreases friction between the piston and the cylinder and reduces wear throughout the closer mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4999872
Abstract: A door closer wherein a housing defines a fluid-containing space for a reciprocable damping piston which divides the space into a first and a second compartment. The piston carries a check valve which is closed during movement of the piston in a first direction while the door panel is being opened and which is open when the piston moves in the opposite direction. A channel is provided in the housing to permit fluid to flow from the first compartment into the second compartment during a first stage of movement of the piston in the first direction.

  • Patent number: 4979261
Abstract: Disclosed is a door control device that automatically repositions the driving shaft of the door closer toward and away from the door pivot, as the door opens and closes, as a means of modifying and improving the force required to open and close the door. Movement is accomplished by a double ended driving shaft having a sprocket gear on one end which drivingly engages a track which in turn repositions the slide mounted door closer to more favorable positions as the door opens and closes.

  • Patent number: 4967444
Abstract: A double-winged door spring is biased for closing with a mechanism for damping of the closure movement and includes a closure sequence control, particularly of a fire-resistant door, in which the damping of the movable door portion is accomplished through a hydraulic damping element with throttled overflow. The hydraulic damping element includes two oppositely controlled pressure chambers defined by a double-acting piston and a valve disposed in the overflow conduit connecting the two pressure chambers, the valve being actuated directly or indirectly through the stationary door portion. By the valve being disposed in the overflow conduit, actuation of the movable door portion can be inhibited until the stationary door portion is closed.

  • Patent number: 4793023
Abstract: A door closer and holder comprises a cylinder shell having a piston sealingly reciprocable therein. A spring biases the piston toward one end of the shell, and the piston is connected through the ususal apparatus to the door. At the one end the operating rod of a shuttle valve extends into the shell and is engaged by the piston as it approaches the end. The shuttle valve selectively directs the return fluid flow through sweep- and latch-control valves. The assembly also includes a solenoid-operated "bullet" which closes off the return flow to hold the door open. The angle of the openness at which the door is held may be selected by setting a cam on the holder drive pinion which engages a switch to activate the solenoid.

  • Patent number: 4653229
Abstract: A holding installation with an integrated closing sequence regulation is described for double doors comprising a leading door which is the first to close and a trailing door which then closes. The hydraulic door closer associated with the trailing door is provided with a signal generating device which is actuated in dependence on the piston position, and with an additional return flow passage for hydraulic fluid. The signal generating device controls the solenoid valve which holds the leading door by preventing the movement of hydraulic fluid contained in the door closer for the leading door, thus preventing movement of the associated piston.

Abstract: A door closer comprising at the end of one of two pivotally interconnected arms a closing device whose housing encloses a cylindrical piston driven by the arm through a rack-and-pinion system. On each side of this piston a return spring and a bag, filled with an incompressible but deformable viscous gum placed in a hollow piston biased elastically toward the cylindrical piston are placed on each side of the first-mentioned piston. The hollow piston has a diameter distinctly larger than the diameter of the first-mentioned piston, and the combined actions of this difference in diameters and of the viscosity of the gum ensure an effective braking of the return of the first-mentioned piston.
