  • Patent number: 9896872
Abstract: A tool for enabling opening and closing a screen door of a recreation vehicle system includes a strap member assembly having a first end including a first flat-hooked member; a deformable strap having a proximate end, and a distal end; and a second end having a second flat-hooked member. The tool for enabling opening and closing a screen door of a recreation vehicle system includes the strap member assembly. When used the strap member assembly does not impede normal movement of screens of the recreation vehicle while simultaneously enabling manipulation of the screen door between an open position to allow ingress and a closed position to prevent bugs and debris from entering into the recreation vehicle, as desired.

  • Patent number: 6994332
Abstract: A vibration damping actuator including: a guide hole open onto a bottom face of a housing; a lid metal plate fitted into the opening of the guide hole with a size enough to hinder inward displacement thereof into the guide hole by an annular shoulder portion; an engaging groove disposed on an inner circumferential surface of the opening; a snap ring of C-letter shape fitted into the engaging groove to prevent the lid metal plate from becoming dislodged from the opening; and a sealing rubber layer formed covering an inside face of the lid metal plate. The lid metal plate is pressed by the snap ring so that the sealing rubber layer is pushed against the annular shoulder portion, thereby sealing the opening of the guide hole.

  • Patent number: 6212735
Abstract: An apparatus for use with hinged members is provided. The apparatus is an elastomeric member affixed to hinged members on opposing sides of a longitudinal axis of rotation. The elastomeric member is affixed in a stretched state to facilitate the resilient return of the hinged members to a closed position. The elastomeric member occupies substantially the entire length of the hinge area. The elastomeric member bridges the hinge area between the two hinged members. Thus, the hinge area is protected against the entrance of stray wires or materials.

  • Patent number: 5983040
Abstract: A camera comprises a cover of a stowage chamber, such as a film cartridge chamber, and a friction member for giving substantially constant opening-operation resistance to the cover substantially throughout the entirety of a movement range in which the cover shifts from a closed state to a half-opened state, so that the cover is gradually opened by the friction force of the friction member. Thus, an object stored in the stowage chamber is prevented from abruptly popping out of the stowage chamber, and a user's feeling at the time of using the camera is improved. Moreover, the friction member is constituted by a rubber member made of silicone rubber or the like. Thus, the considerable miniaturization of the camera is achieved.

  • Patent number: 5251402
Abstract: A self return mechanism for automatically closing or opening a closure, preferably having a movable door supported during movement by a door frame, the door having a braking element mounted to the top edge of the door, and a door return element. The door return element has one end coupled to the door frame structure and its other end coupled to the door and has an intermediate segment oriented to pass through the braking element and around a portion of the grooved circumference of a pulley wheel. The door return element is preferably an elastic element having an outer dimension that changes as the door moves from an opened position to a closed position. The self return mechanism controls the acceleration and deceleration of the door as it is automatically closed, returns the sliding door to its closed position when it is opened only partially, allows for easy removal and replacement of the door from the door frame structure and is inexpensive to manufacture and simple to assemble.

  • Patent number: 4819299
Abstract: A self-closing hinge comprising a pair of hinge leaves pivotally interconnected by an offset hinge pin. A spring tang is formed integrally with one of the hinge members and has a distal end that has a head projecting substantially radially with respect to a sleeve of the other hinge leaf within which the hinge pin is mounted. The external surface of the sleeve serves as a cam surface against which a follower element carried on the head of the spring tang is biased. The line of force exerted by the head of the tang through the follower is distally offset relative to the axis of the hinge pin. During closing of the hinge the follower is brought into registration with a pocket formed in the sleeve effecting a rocking movement of the follower about one edge of the pocket to generate a self-closing moment.

  • Patent number: 4761853
Abstract: A geared hinge is formed by a pair of intermeshed geared hinge members which are maintained in mesh by a connector member. When the hinge members are in one position there are longitudinal recesses which are diminished in volume when the hinge members are in an alternate position. Deposits of resilient rubber-like material are inserted into the open recesses. These deposits are compressed when the hinge members are moved toward the alternate position. The resistance to compression imparts a self-closing action to the hinge.

  • Patent number: 4656781
Abstract: A door assembly describing a stationary frame having doors mounted therein for relative translational movement. Each door includes a self-closing mechanism comprising a flexible tubular member affixed at one end to the frame and a follower secured to the other end of the tubular member for loose positioning in an active position adjacent a side of the door for urging the door in a closed position, and a self-opening means comprising a similar flexible tubular member affixed at one end to the frame and a follower secured to the other for loose positioning in an active position adjacent an opposite side of the door for urging the door to a fully open position. The self-closing and self-opening mechanisms both are adapted to be deactivated as an incident to positioning the door to respective locations within the mounting frame.

  • Patent number: 4354611
Abstract: A trash collection, management and disposal system for an office area including covered trash collector containers positioned at heights substantially equivalent to the height of a standard desk top and adapted to receive trash generated in the area. Some of the trash collector containers are mounted on wheels and are equipped with tongue-and-hitch assemblies enabling a plurality of these trash collector containers to be coupled together in a train for towing to a dump site. Dump mechanisms at the dump site pick the trash collector containers up and invert them to empty the trash contained therein. The cover on each collector container is pivotally mounted by a hinge assembly enabling the cover member to be moved to an over center position when it is opened to inhibit its return movement to the closed position. Also, the hinge assembly operates to maintain the cover in an upright position when it is opened, allowing the cover to serve as a backstop for deflecting thrown trash into the container.
