  • Patent number: 4505390
Abstract: A cup is disclosed which is nestable on the end of a hiker's plastic bottle. The cup has a handle which is movable between a stored position in which it nests around the outside of the cup body and a use position in which the handle extends out radially from the cup sidewall. The handle has a third position, reversed from the second, in which the handle loops up over the mouth of the cup from one side on the cup lip to a diametrically opposite site to provide a bail for suspended support of the cup, e.g. for hanging the cup over a fire. A pouch may be provided for permitting the user to wear the compact stowed-handle/bottle-nested cup unit. The cup handle includes a doubled wire member with tangs that removably mount in a bracket provided on the cup sidewall. A slider is provided on the handle, this slider being movable between a position where the handle is relatively fixed to the cup and a position where the handle can be shifted or changed from one to another of its three positions.

  • Patent number: 4499629
Abstract: The assembly includes a shaft having its opposite ends threaded in opposite directions. This shaft is passed through a hole in a door to which door pulls are to be mounted. First and second door pulls have oppositely threaded openings for receiving the ends of the shaft. A finished disc member having a central aperture is on the shaft and includes a pin extending into a key way on the shaft so that the shaft can be rotated by rotating the disc to draw the pulls together and thereby sandwich the opening of the door between the pulls. A finished appearance thus results.

  • Patent number: 4493127
Abstract: The invention provides a molded plastic handle for attachment to the upper end of a heavy duty olefin bag for packaging dry mix and the like, wherein the handle is provided with a hand-engaging opening, has an integrally formed depending skirt of alternating depending portions adapted to be sonically or impulse sealed to the outer surfaces of the upper edge portion of the olefin bag, with each of the depending surfaces so arranged that they do not overlap or correspond position-wise to the skirt depending element on the opposite side of the olefin bag, one of the depending portions being disposed midway along the handle, and a vertical strut being provided connecting the handle top portion to such midway depending portion. The invention also provides integrally formed reinforcing ribs at each side of the handle, on front and back faces, with downwardly bifurcated ends which extend to two end skirt portions, and thereby reinforce such end portions to equalize the load stress on the handle and top of the bag.

  • Patent number: 4466377
Abstract: A device for fastening handles, that consists of a connecting bushing (16) and an insert (18) that are attached to both the implement (86) and to the handle (10). The insert (18), which has a rectangular cross-section, is locked into the insertion opening in the connecting bushing when a catch (62) on a leaf spring (64) engages a hole (61) in the insert. The resulting positive lock can be disengaged by a push-button (48) or sliding sleeve. The push-button (48) rests against the end (74) of the leaf spring (64) and can be used to displace the catch (62) on the leaf spring from the hole (61). An axially elastic sleeve (84) between the end of the handle and the connecting piece (20) compensates for tolerances. The circular handle merges gradually into an oval or ellipse toward the connecting piece (20).

  • Patent number: 4413767
Abstract: A method for assembling a handle to a cooking vessel, such as a pot or pan, wherein the use of conventional rivets having heads protruding from the inner surface of the cooking vessel is avoided. Studs are welded to the outer surface of the receptacle portion of the cooking vessel, and in the preferred embodiment, the openings in the handle are dimensioned much larger than the diameters of the studs so that the openings can clear the diverging studs. Step washers are then utilized to space the handle and studs so that a tight assembly results when the ends of the studs are expanded against the washers.

  • Patent number: 4404709
Abstract: The disclosure concerns a device for fastening a handle, arm rest, or the like, to a wall in a vehicle, or the like. Two receptacles for pins are provided at spaced apart holes in the wall. A guide pin on the part is shaped so that once the guide pin is inserted in the wall, and the part is moved against the wall, the pin extends generally parallel to the wall. A locking pin is located at another location on the part and it extends straight into the wall. A pull out safety comprising two spring legs biased together against the pin prevent extraction of the locking pin. A third, retaining pin may be provided spaced from the other two pins and parallel to the locking pin for being received in yet another hole in the wall. The pull out safety is part of a clamp for the locking pin. The clamp is U-shaped and the legs of clamp hold the locking pin. The web of the clamp has a hole in it for permitting the locking pin to be shifted laterally of its length for unclamping and clamping the locking pin.

  • Patent number: 4393539
Abstract: An overhandle for enclosing the handle or the shank of a tool, such as a dental tool. The overhandle is formed of two mating semi-cylindrical sections having respective forward end faces which are confrontingly opposed in the opened condition and are in a single plane in the assembled closed condition. Laterally spaced apart hinges interlock the sections at their forward end faces. An elongated channel is respectively formed in each of the sections and extends through the forward end face of the respective section. The channels matingly confront in the assembled closed condition to define an internal chamber with an open forward end so that the chamber receives the end of the tool with the remaining tool portion axially extending through the open forward end. A coupling mechanism is provided for retaining the sections in the assembled closed condition. In modified embodiments, the same overhandle can enclose either the handle of one tool or the shank of another tool.

  • Patent number: 4019490
Abstract: A side-mounted pull-rope recoil starter for low horsepower, vertical crankshaft internal combustion engines in which a starter gear moves vertically in a pair of journalled slots in the starter mounting bracket into engagement with a ring gear carried by the engine flywheel. The starter includes a starter brake spring which is released when the starter gear engages the flywheel, an operator handle which is specifically contoured to be comfortably held by the operator during pulling of the starter rope and a mechanical interlock between the engine and a drive transmission to prevent engagement of the starter mechanism when the transmission is in other than the neutral position. A safety lock mechanism which is operable by means of a removable key and which prevents unauthorized activation of the starter mechanism is also disclosed. A top-mounted pull-rope recoil starter is disclosed which incorporates many features of the basic side-mounted starter embodiment.
