  • Patent number: 7299850
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a roll-up partition comprising a rolling shutter, a shutter assembly, a flexible strap and a tensioner. The tensioner includes a locking mechanism that is configured to lock and unlock the flexible strap and a quick release mechanism configured to release the locking mechansim, thus allowing the rolling shutter to change positions. The invention also includes a strap recoiler with a locking mechanism and a quick release mechanism, wherein activation of the quick release mechanism causes the release of the locking mechanism, thus allowing the roll-up partition to change positions. The invention also includes a method of exiting an enclosed space partially bounded by a portal protected by a roller shutter. The method includes operating the quick release mechanism, waiting for the shutter to retract and exiting the space through the portal.

  • Patent number: 7204291
Abstract: The present invention is a modular lid system for an underwater swimming pool cover or other underwater enclosure. The modular lid has a rigid lid portion which has an overall buoyancy such that the lid portion closes the enclosure underwater by force of gravity. The modular lid system also has a remote power pack for providing a source of hydraulic power to the modular lid. The remote power pack is located at a position remote from the swimming pool. The remote power pack includes a hydraulic pump and a hydraulic drive mechanism is actuated by the remote power pack. The drive mechanism has a predetermined range of movement. A decoupled linkage mechanism extends between the hydraulic drive mechanism and the lid portion for causing limited opening movement thereof. • Patent number: 7159637
Abstract: To avoid repeated damage to a lower section of a metal roll-up door, the lower section is replaced by a more impactable curtain assembly. The curtain assembly is so readily scalable, horizontally and vertically, that much of it can be manufactured and field assembled right at the installation site. The curtain assembly may comprise one or more strips of fabric that are cut from a roll of a certain width. The length of the fabric strips corresponds to the width of the doorway, and the number of strips is based on the vertical span of the door section that is being replaced. Windbars can be attached where adjacent strips connect to each other. A weighted, semi-rigid bottom bar reinforces the lower edge of the finished roll-up curtain. Under impact, the bottom bar has sufficient flexibility to allow the curtain to resiliently break away from within the door's vertical guide tracks.

  • Patent number: 6981538
Abstract: A positional control device is provided to prevent accidental drifting of an overhead sectional door upward or downward from a fully opened, partly opened or fully closed position. The device allows the door to be manually moved to a different elevation without requiring a separate operation to release the door from its original position. This is achieved by a mechanism which couples the upward and downward motion of the door to the rotation of a sprocket wheel engaged with a spring loaded ratchet arm with a bifurcated head specially shaped for ratcheting engagement with the teeth of the sprocket wheel. Suitable adjustment of the spring allows the ratchet mechanism to hold the door in its given position by exerting a force which can readily be overcome by manual raising or lowering the door to a different position.

Quick-action rolling shutter doors are used for closing openings in tie walls of warehouses or factory buildings in order to restrict the loss of energy from heated or cooled rooms, and to protect the environment by keeping escaping noise, odours and dust emissions to a minimum. Known quick-action rolling shutter doors have disadvantages in relation to heat insulation. The object is to provide an improved quick-action rolling shutter door with corresponding modules. According to a first aspect, a flexible quick-action rolling shutter door hanging (12) can be wound up onto a roller, is guided on at least one side by a guiding device and has at least one thick-walled insulating layer (36, 38) consisting of plastic foam material.

Abstract: A kit for converting an open cabinet to an enclosed cabinet has a top surface, side and bottom panels with cabinet front faces wherein a cabinet front plane is defined by a cabinet front face, including a rolling gate barrel assembly with a rolling gate curtain, side rails and a bottom rail adapted to be secured to the cabinet front faces. The side rails are adapted for attachment to the barrel assembly and to the bottom rail to dispose the barrel assembly above the cabinet top surface when the rails are attached to the cabinet front. Tracks extend along the side rails for permitting the rolling gate curtain to travel within the side rails for enclosing the cabinet enclosure system and maintaining the rolling gate curtain in a spaced apart relationship with the cabinet front plane for the purpose of minimizing damage to cabinet contents.

  • Patent number: 6631749
Abstract: A wind resistant rolling shutter assembly having a flexible barrier made of a plurality of interconnected slats. Each individual slat is hollow, has inner and outer surfaces, two opposing ends and one or more support ribs. Two brackets each having two opposing ends, run internally from one opposing end of each slat to the other. Four slat end retainers, each having a head and a point, are disposed point first one in each bracket end. The flexible barrier rides in two track assemblies positioned vertically on the frame of a door or window. The track assemblies have track channels and retention arms located therein. When the slats are flexed the slat retainers interact with retention arms and prevent the dislodgement of the flexible barrier.

Each modular element has a central body, on opposite sides of which there extend first and second lateral protrusions, respectively. The ends of the first and second protrusions of two adjacent modular elements overlap in such a way as to form a T shape, and are connected to each other by a cylindrical hinge positioned between them. Each central body, together with at least the first or the second lateral protrusion forms a corresponding portion of the covering and protecting surface, and the surface portions formed by the modular elements are placed side by side in contact with each other so as to make a substantially uninterrupted covering and protecting surface.

Abstract: A parking area control and management system employs a card reader, which reads identification information from a card commonly carried by a person, such as a driver's license or credit card. A record is made of the identification information upon entrance of a vehicle into the parking area. The person may subsequently leave the parking area on foot and regain entry to the parking area by presenting the same card. Later, the same card is used to exit the parking area, via the vehicle, and to validate that the same person is leaving with the vehicle. The parking area control and management system also includes sensors, such as loop detectors and electric eyes, to determine if a second vehicle or a pedestrian follows behind a vehicle entering into, or exiting from, the parking area.

Abstract: The invention pertain to a roll-up gate with a gate panel which can be rolled up into a coil of several layers, the panel consisting of a plurality of solid gate battens, which extend across the width of the gate to create a rigid covering over the opening and which can move in vertical guideways. So that the gate can be opened and closed quickly and with little noise, it is provided that at least one batten has at least one support body with a pair of support elements, this pair consisting of an internal and an external support surface, the distance between which is designed so that, when the battens are rolled up, the internal support surface can rest on the external support surface of the preceding layer of the coil, while the remainder of the battens remains free.
