Roll Type Patents (Class 160/133)
  • Patent number: 5657805
Abstract: A wind-resistant overhead door includes substantially vertical windbars mounted on the side portions of the frame, and windlocks or endlocks on the lateral edge portions of the intermediate and bottommost of endmost slats of the closure, such as a rolling door. By providing a predetermined clearance between the windbars and windlocks by substantially eliminating such clearance with respect to the lowermost or endmost slat or bar, maximum flexing of the slats in response to wind loads and positive and negative pressures acting on the closures can be substantially eliminated to thereby control and substantially eliminate undesired deflections or gaps about the periphery of the closure. This minimizes the exposure to which glass elements behind the closures are exposes to wind loads, and pressures which can damage the same.

  • Patent number: 5611383
Abstract: A roll-up shutter is formed of numerous, identical, horizontally elongated slats each having a pair of oppositely and downwardly extended hooks formed on its upper edge and a downwardly opening groove on its lower edge for receiving the hooks of the next adjacent slat. The lower edges of the walls forming the groove in each slat are bent inwardly and upwardly to provide inner channels. The pair of hooks of one slat are normally engaged within the corresponding pair of channels of the next adjacent slat. The hook and channel on one side of each slat are arranged at a higher level than the corresponding hook and channel on the other side of each slat. When the shutter is opened, to cover a window or doorway opening, the engaged hooks and slats, which extend substantially along the full width of the shutter, form horizontally arranged, bar-like reinforcements for the shutter.

Abstract: A roller for supporting and storing a flexible light control material. The roller is a substantially circular cylindrical tube defining an outer surface with circumferentially-spaced, longitudinally-extending ribs integral therewith and extending radially outwardly therefrom. One of the ribs defines a radially outwardly extending surface, and a separate one of said ribs defines a radially extending blade-like rib having a tapered and rounded free edge. A clip secures a flexible light control material to the roller. An elongated, resilient, transversely arcuate clip secures the flexible material to the body. The clip defines V-shaped ribs and radially inwardly directed V-shaped channels.

The first and second modules are joined to create a single, unitary hazardous waste material storage building. A related method is also provided. Another embodiment of a hazardous waste material container storage building comprises providing a plurality of modules, each having a securing member disposed on the roof of each module. Two modules are joined by connecting a fastener to the securing members of each respective module. A related method is also disclosed. The first and second embodiment may be used in the same installation.

Abstract: A window covering including first and second sheer fabrics interconnected by a plurality of transversely extending vanes is disclosed. The sheer fabrics are connected to circumferentially spaced apart fixing elements on a wind up roll which is mounted with its longitudinal axis extending generally horizontally to one side of a frame of a skylight. Associated with the wind up roll at each end are cord reels and a control pulley at one end of a respective cord reel. Rotation of the wind up roll is effected by operation of a cord wrapped around the control pulley. Wrapped around the cord reels are tension cords which pass around fixed pulleys and are connected to opposite ends of an end rail having in its interior a tension spring to the end of which are attached the ends of the tension cords. Two parallel tracks extending generally perpendicular to the wind up roll is provided for guiding the end rail.

Abstract: A roll-up or curtain type door or panel wall for use in large doorways, the door having an improved support apparatus, an improved spring mounting mechanism, and a unique bearing block which also functions to support the door as it is rolled up. The roll-up door has a substantially stronger hollow hexagonal barrel assembly which is less susceptible to flexural stress, and a spring mounting arrangement which allows the springs to shrink or grow longitudinally as the door is rolled up or down. The barrel assembly is mounted on pivoting support means allowing the barrel assembly to move away from and toward the guide tracks as the door is rolled up and down, whereby the variation in diameter of the barrel assembly does not affect the performance of the door.

Abstract: The invention provides a roll-up door for operation with a pre-tensioned balancer and having fastening apparatus comprising a cable with fasteners, one on each end, and which is coupled to the door at first and second positions spaced substantially equally from respective sides of the door. The balancer has a clip located centrally with respect to the first and second positions so that as the cable is positioned on the balancer during initial installation, the cable can adjust in the clip so that the lengths of the cable from the balancer to the door are equalized. The cable is wound onto the balancer as the door is opened. This winding creates sufficient friction between the cables and the balancer to lock the cables to the balancer so that the cables effectively retain their equal lengths during use.

Abstract: This invention relates to a rolling shutter having a shutter curtain being wound around a winding drum forming n-polygonal winding layers. According to this invention, since a sudden change of a diameter of winding layer is eliminated, the damage and deterioration of the slats are precluded efficiency of winding and unwinding operation is improved, and it becomes easier to put a manual-operated rolling shutter of this type to practical use.The shutter curtain is comprised of slats being connected to each other and each winding layer is comprised of n slats which have the same vertical dimension. When the shutter curtain is being wound around the winding durm, the distance between the center of the winding drum and apexes of winding layers gradually increases by H/n. The distance H is the difference between a radius of a winding layer and that of adjacent winding layer(s).
