With Spring Thrust Patents (Class 160/376)
  • Patent number: 10731406
Abstract: Embodiments of a panel-less shutter assembly comprise a series of parallel louvers mounted within a closed rectangular rail frame. Spring-loaded guides may be mounted between the rail frame and the window frame to self-center the assembly within the opening of the window frame. Carriers mounted on the ends of the louvers glide up and down within channels of the side rails to allow raising and lowering of the louvers. Spring-loaded channel slides may be coupled to the carriers. The channel slides have tabs that extend through slots in the side rails to maintain the positions of the louvers relative to the side rails. The tabs have a diagonal surface that engages the top edge of the slot to disengage the tab from the slot when a user raises the louvers. A method of using a panel-less shutter assembly is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 9482051
Abstract: A screen door made of foamed polymer with heat welded joins between rails and stiles and a flat spline groove. The rails and stiles are extruded with the flat spline groove. Prior to joining the rails and stiles, a thin notch is made to remove the smooth skin of the extruded stiles before being joined to the cut ends of the rails. The heat welded joint between the notched stile and cut end of the rail is ten times stronger than conventional polymer door joints. A flat spline is used to insert the marginal portion of the screen into the flat spline groove, which is wider in the interior than at its entrance and resists the pull from normal forces on the screen much more effectively than a round spline in a rectangular groove.

  • Patent number: 8607841
Abstract: In a roll screen device, inner rails are embedded inside fixed guide rails which guide protrusions at side edges of a screen which is wound via a take-up shaft. Each inner rail has a guide groove in which the guide protrusion is inserted, and inward flanges are provided at an opening of the guide groove. Rail members have outer side protrusions and inner side protrusion of different heights at both side edges of a rail base plate. The higher outer side protrusions are confronting. A micro gap extends between the lower inner side protrusions into the guide groove such that the micro gap is opposed to a guide gap formed between the opposed inward flanges. The guide protrusion is slid and guided in a come-off preventing state by the inner side protrusion, so that an extremely thin fastener element can be used as the guide protrusion.

  • Patent number: 6390173
Abstract: A screen frame is made by joining four (three or more) screen frame segments together at corners to form a generally rectangular or multi-sided screen frame. Corner joint inserts are placed within each corner of the four screen frame segments and the inserts are spot welded to adjoining screen frame segments to provide a sturdy and rigid screen frame. The screen frame segments are metal extrusions having two parallel flanges extending from a generally square shaped hollow body. A metal screen is secured in the screen frame by spot welding the screen between the flanges of the screen frame segment. The resulting screen frame and screen provides a long-lasting, corrosive resistant, and rigid frame and screen for positioning in window or door frames which can withstand damage from intruders, projectiles, and environmental stresses.
