The pole interface is adapted to receive the end of a standard length adjustable pole or a painter's pole. The compression mechanism is disposed between the proximal end of the mount and the head. The mount includes a coupling device adapted to receive a portion of a curtain. During installation, the curtain mount is coupled to the end of an extension pole and the length of the pole is adjusted such that the combined length of the pole and mount is slightly longer than the distance between the floor and ceiling. At ground level, a portion of the curtain is attached to the head of the curtain mount. The curtain and mount are raised to the ceiling and the mount and pole are compressed between the floor and the ceiling. This compressive force operates to urge the head toward the ceiling, securing the mount in place.

Abstract: A recites full view door in which the frame portion is totally molded. It may be molded in a number of processes from polypropylene or other materials, with or without additives, and other plastics suitable for large molded frames. There is an outside section of the frame and an inside section which are modified for securement each to the other. Provision is made in the interior edges of the frame for receiving the pane of glass, and then a holding assembly is provided, primarily four pieces being top, bottom and the two sides which snap-fits into the inside portion of the frame and secures the window in removable engagement to the door. In the method, means are provided on the outer half and the inner half for snap-fittingly or press-fittingly engaging each other. In addition, sonic welding, gluing, and other means for securing the outer half and the inner half of the door are contemplated.

Abstract: A sheet molded compound (SMC) which is a fiberglass reinforced composite material, produced in a sheet format, for forming a door, is disclosed. The material includes strands of oriented chopped fiberglass in combination with a resin, filler paste, and desirably an inert material such as talc in concentrations to and including up to approximately 40% of the composition. The SMC is subjected to matched molding, male and female, into a configuration in which one-half includes the window recess, a track for the same, the track being conformed by virtue of an offset for a screen as well. The entire door, is subsequently filled with foam to secure the two halves together. A closer recess, pocket for a lock, and screen and window mounting means are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5591979
Abstract: A device and method for locating an electret in an electret-type radon gas detector, so it is wrinkle free, uses a sloped pedestal over which the electret sheet is placed. A ring with a beveled interior surface and a minor diameter smaller than the top of the pedestal is forced down over the electret sheet and pedestal, and into a groove surrounding the pedestal formed by a wall projecting from the base of the device. The movement of the ring causes the electret to stretch and eliminates any wrinkles. Also, forcing the ring over the pedestal causes the ring to rotate about its circular centroid axis and to dig into the walls of the groove, thus locking the assembly together.

  • Patent number: 5586400
Abstract: A fabric holder and method for maintaining fabric or other flexible planar members in a taut manner for sewing, stitching or embroidering thereon. The fabric is stretched across a portal frame in which the frame sides each have a base with an upward wave-like crest projection. A clamp receptacle receives the projection and fabric thereon to maintain the fabric sandwiched tightly in place. As stresses are applied to the fabric during sewing, the clamp exhibits the ability to rotate outwardly thereby applying a greater gripping force to the fabric to maintain it in place on the frame. After the sewing operation is completed, the clamps can be easily removed for fabric replacement by manually rotating them inwardly, toward the center of the fabric and thereafter lifting the clamp and fabric from the projection.

  • Patent number: 5535804
Abstract: A pet door kit made of frame sides and door sides all of which may be assembled onto a mesh screen panel before the panel is required to be cut to allow for pivoting of the door. Advantageously each frame side is formed as an integral molding with an associated door side so that the skill of the installer is not required to locate the door within the frame. Economically, the two moldings thus provided are identical and securing members, i.e. pins are integrally provided to pass from one molding, through the mesh, and be force fitted into holes in the other molding. The assembly of the two moldings simultaneously and quickly assembles the door and frame onto the firm unsevered rigid support of the screen panel.

  • Patent number: 5352391
Abstract: The gas distributor is provided for aeration of water, particularly for the supply of oxygen in biological waste water treatment plants, but also for aeration of lakes whose oxygen content has been decreased due to the supply of pollutants. The gas distributor includes a base plate (2), over which a diaphragm (3) with fine openings (16) is stretched. Air, oxygen or other gases with such a volume per time unit are pumped between the base plate and the diaphragm (3) so that the diaphragm (3) expands slightly. Excessive expansion of the diaphragm is prevented by an upper grating part that extends over the total diaphragm (3). The diaphragm (3) is connected to the base plate (2) via a fastening device made of three members (6-8) that engage, for example, a recess (11) that has a dovetail-shaped cross-section. The diaphragms (3) are clamped to the base plate by means of a snap closure. The present embodiment uses no adhesive that could damage the diaphragm (3).

  • Patent number: 5146971
Abstract: A door suspension system has a frame mounting element and a cover element. These elements have projecting clamping elements which cooperate to clamp door strips between them to suspend the strips in a door opening. In addition, one of the cover or frame mounting elements includes a mechanism for supporting pins or other supports from which apertured door strips may be hung. Also, the cover and frame mounting elements may define channels from which door suspension strips may be hung. The combined clamping action and pin support or hanging support of the door strips results in securely supported strips. The cover element and frame mounting element cooperatively engage one another for mounting purposes. In a specifically illustrated embodiment, a set of flanges is provided on the mounting element for mating with a corresponding set of flanges on the cover element for purposes of aligning these elements as they are coupled together.

  • Patent number: 5143138
Abstract: Molding, which is attached directly to the outside of a house around a window, includes a continuous groove for receiving the edges of a sheet of flexible screening. A strip of flexible tubular rubber is used to force the screen into the groove and operates to frictionally retain the screen in engagement with the molding, and a decorative cap can then be snap fitted into the groove to further hold the screen in place. A flexible retaining strip may be removably attached to the decorative cap and can include a plurality of barbed tacks which engage the tubular rubber holding ring.
