Abstract: A stretched artist canvas frame system is supported with a rigid foam back to either allow artists to apply pressure to a canvas without stretching it and causing sagging, or to allow artists to use the stretched artist canvas as an alternative for artists who paint on board. The frame system is a light weight alternative to painting on board, especially when the paintings become very large. The frame system provides the texture of canvas but the stiffness of a board by supporting the board with a lightweight rigid extruded foam. The frame system gives the artist the choice of painting on canvas or the feel of painting on board. The rigid foam back allows the artist to even create a smooth board finish if they choose through priming techniques. As the canvas gets larger, they do not get prohibitively heavier.

  • Patent number: 7007735
Abstract: A removable device has a screen, two stiles and two rails, connected by elbows. The rectangular screen admits light and air. The two stiles stand mutually parallel, rigid, and perpendicular to the horizon upon installation of the device in an opening. The two rails lie mutually parallel, rigid, and parallel to the horizon. The first elbows receive the rail coaxial with a first spring and the stile coaxial with a second spring while having gripping means. Slightly different, the second elbows have an adjusting means. The stiles and the rails connect to the elbows around the perimeter of the screen.

  • Patent number: 6981540
Abstract: A tent door which opens and closes in a manner similar to that of a regular house door, yet is in keeping with the requirements for mobility of being light-weight and easily taken apart or reassembled. Such a door being comprised of a fabric panel (54), supported by a rigid frame (22). The frame of this door panel is hinged to a similar frame (20) attached to the perimeter of a cutout opening (56) in the tent wall, against which the door closes. A latch secures the door and allows it to be released for opening by means of a single action which can be performed using just one hand. These are all takedown assemblies connected with manually operated fasteners and employing the lightest or smallest possible components.

  • Patent number: 6973953
Abstract: A door having four lineal door frame components, each of the lineal components having a cross-section defining an interior space extending in a longitudinal direction of the linear components. Four symmetric, L-shaped members are provided that each have a corner portion and two posts that extend from the corner portion at a right angle to one another. The posts each have a length and a plurality of fins extending therefrom along at least portions of the length. A metal reinforcement member is arranged in the hollow portion of the lineal components so as to extend substantially along the entire length of the lineal components and leave an empty portion of the hollow section at each end of the lineal components, which empty portions have a length equal to at least the length of the posts of the L-shaped body. The posts of the L-shaped members are mounted in the free hollow portions of the lineal components so that at least some of the fins engage an interior surface of the lineal components.

  • Patent number: 6886300
Abstract: A panel (10) for protecting a portion of a structure such as a window (11) includes a frame member (13) made up of four channel members (16-19) interconnected by corner members (20). One end of each channel member (16-19) includes an opening to receive an edge of a sheet (33) of flexible material. The sheet (33) is provided with a thickened area (34) near each edge thereof. A fabric locking and stretching member (15) closes the opening in each channel member (16-19) and engages the thickened area (34) of the fabric sheet (33) to stretch the sheet (33) within the frame member (13).

  • Patent number: 6742565
Abstract: This is a method and kit for making window coverings and frames and the like in which a multiplicity of frame members are held in position in a geometric shape and distorted inwardly towards a center of the frame by a distorting force after which a covering is adhered to the frame. When the covering is firmly adhered, the distorting force is released causing tension to be applied to the covering and insuring that the covering is taut and wrinkle free.

  • Patent number: 6681833
Abstract: A frame for a ventilation screen-frame assembly includes a body having a mounting surface for receiving ventilation screen material. In one example, the body has at least three V-shaped cuts partially through it. Each V-shaped cut leaves an edge of the body uncut. The body is folded about each uncut edge so that the ends of the body meet at a corner. Each V-shaped cut subtends an angle &thgr; that is slightly less than 90 degrees, so that the folded corners are in compression. The assembly further includes a single corner key for joining the ends of the body into a closed frame. A reinforcement clip can be used in each folded corner.

  • Patent number: 6626227
Abstract: An apparatus and method for a window shutter system are disclosed. A window shutter system (100) is disclosed that includes a plurality of shutter frames (106, 108). Each shutter frame (106, 108) includes a plurality of elongate members (126, 130). Each of these elongate members (126, 130) has two ends, and each end has a receiver (204, 208). The shutter frames (106, 108) also include a plurality of couplers (128, 120, 132, 140). Each coupler (128, 120, 132, 140) has at least two extensions (202, 206) for connecting adjacent elongate members. These extensions (202, 206) are adapted to interlock with the receiver (204, 208) of an associated elongate member (126, 130) such that the elongate members (126, 130) and the couplers (128, 120, 132, 140) cannot rotate relative to one another. In addition to the shutter frames (106, 108), the shutter system (100) also includes at least one hinge (112, 114) that may be used to couple one of the elongate members (126, 130) to a window frame (110).
