Rigid Or Nonmovable Patents (Class 160/83.1)
  • Patent number: 11680412
Abstract: A system and method for fabricating canopies featuring extruded members coupled together with fasteners that are hidden and are retained by multiple tracks located in the extruded members. Prefabricated corners of extruded members allow fabricators to build the canopy on site by attaching straight members to form a canopy from the four prefabricated corners. Prefabricated facial members allow fabricators to quickly change the appearance of the assembled canopy or to retrofit pre-existing canopies.

  • Patent number: 9038694
Abstract: A sun shading apparatus includes a supporting frame, a shading frame and a shading fabric. The supporting frame includes first and second leg frames, and a supporting bar extended between the first and the second leg frames, while the second leg frame has third and fourth mounting slots. The shading frame includes first and second coupling joints each having a V-shaped cross section, first and second frame members, and a reinforcing frame, wherein the supporting bar is extended between the first and second coupling joints. The first and the second frame member are coupled with the first coupling joint and the second coupling joint respectively, while the reinforcing frame is extended between the first and second frame member and the supporting bar to form a support platform. The shading fabric is detachably mounted on the support platform for shading adverse weather condition.

  • Patent number: 8104527
Abstract: A method and apparatus for joining angularly oriented side planar members into an otherwise orthogonal awning frame of open ended side plane and transverse members joined by fitted right angle connectors has the angularly oriented member cut to length at end angles that provide a flush fit to the side plane members at transverse member connections and lengths of formed right angle section material, cut at the same flush fitting angles as the tubing end angle cuts, for fastening to inwardly facing surfaces of the planar and transverse members, so as to present a smooth exterior surface for supporting an awning cover.

  • Publication number: 20110056135
Abstract: An energy saving grate system installed outside a building or structure in warm weather that reduces heating due to infrared radiation (IR) from sunlight. For a window application the grate acts as a sunshade to block or diffuse the IR and ultraviolet (UV) portions of sunlight while passing visible light. The grate cell size, depth, cell surface characteristics, and mounting details near the sash determine system performance of sunlight control, of the view through the grate, and of the exterior appearance. The grate is removable for cool weather. The grate system can cool various surfaces and requires no operating adjustments. It can be applied near most windows (including skylights) on all sides of a building where impinging sunlight causes unwanted heating. Compared to external solar thin mesh screens the grate system can provide more open area for a given performance in reduced IR heating.

  • Patent number: 6412536
Abstract: A window awning system comprises an awning fabric defining an upper edge with a hollow hem formed therein and a lower edge with grommets. An extrusion mounts on the wall. Apertures in a face portion receive wall fasteners and an outwardly extending C-shaped channel. A hem rope is contained within the hem. The hem and rope are then fed into the C-shaped channel. A pair of hollow wall posts have an inboard wall mounting end and an outboard free end. The inboard end has a flat rectangular plate. Each outboard free end receives an end cap. A perimeter cable has a central section passing through holes in the end caps and attaches to the extrusion by the use of metal wire crimps. A lashing rope passes through each grommet of the awning fabric and encompasses the perimeter cable with each pass for securement of the fabric from below.

  • Patent number: 6267130
Abstract: A lightweight awning frame having the flexibility of being easily lengthened or shortened by the addition or removal of extension pieces, which is easy and inexpensive to manufacture and mass produce, assemble and install, and package in a relatively compact cardboard box. The awning can be produced in various forms with common requirements of multiple bent pipes and non-welded, one piece engageable members wherein the ends of the pipes are inserted and securely engaged for the purpose of forming a semicircular half-dome shaped structure. Standard left and right end sections having a set of awning tubes can be formed into awning ribs by connection or the addition of extension members and support brackets connected at joints spacing the awning tubes apart in an array of awning ribs. One form of the side brackets has two receiving openings and a flange for securing individual tubes.
