Abstract: A film for blinds may be located either in front of a window pane in the conventional configuration or in the space between the panes in the case of a window with multiple glazing in order to provide decoration or shade. The film for blinds has creases which, due to their flexural moment, form a wave profile in the section of the blind that has been unwound, while they form a specific cross-section in the section that has been wound up. The blind winds up neatly and evenly with the layers exactly on top of each other, even when there are many layers and small winding diameters are involved.

  • Patent number: 6223803
Abstract: A window with a substantially rectangular main frame structure with an openable sash structure comprises a built-in roller screening device comprising a flexible screening web having one end secured to a spring-loaded roller member and an opposite end connected with a rigid end member. A roller member is received in bracket members at respective ends of a longitudinal cavity formed in one of a first pair of main frame members, whereas in each of second pair of main frame members extending at right angles to the first pair a longitudinal guide track is formed to receive respective ends of said rigid end member and optionally edge regions of the screening web. The cavity is closed against the light-admitting area by a detachable cover member leaving a narrow slit-opening for passage of the screening web and permitting arrangement, removal or replacement.

  • Patent number: 6206076
Abstract: A roof window having an upper edge and a lower edge is provided with a shade assembly that has a flexible shade having a pair of opposite ends, a rotatable shaft attached to one of the shade ends, and a mount rotatably supporting the shaft at the lower window edge. A motor and spring unit attached to the shaft and to the other of the shade ends can wind the shade around the shaft in an open position of the assembly and unwind the shade from the shaft and pull it up along the window until the other shade end is at the upper edge in a closed position of the assembly. A pair of guides extend generally parallel to each other between the window edges. The one shade end is displaceable along the guides and respective cables attached to the one shade end extend along the guides. The shade assembly further has a stiff bar extending along the one shade edge and rollers on ends of the bar riding in the guides and attached to the cables.

  • Patent number: 6138738
Abstract: An external screening mechanism for a pivotable skylight window comprises a web of a screening material which is wound on a spring-biased roller and is connected with a bottom bar which is guided in side guide rails and connected via a cord drive with an unrolling drive unit. The side guide rails for the bottom bar run along the parts of the frame side portions situated above the axis of rotation and the parts of the sash side portions situated below the axis of rotation, and an essentially rod-shaped support arrangement is attached to and extends across the screening web and is led in the side guide rails so that, in a position of use for the screening mechanism, it is positioned at or close to the axis of rotation in parallel therewith. The device may be provided with an arrangement for retightening and smoothing the web in the fully drawn position and during rewinding.

  • Patent number: 6089302
Abstract: A safety gate attached to a door and its associated jamb, for preventing passage through the doorway of children, pets, or the like. The gate comprises a net attached to the door and to the jamb. At the jamb, the net is attached to a spring loaded return mechanism which also serves as a take-up reel. This return mechanism is firmly anchored to the jamb. The net is removably attached to the door, so that intended passage through the doorway may proceed. The net has a loop which is slipped over a hook fastened to the door. A flexible net deploys instantly, since it constantly spans the jamb and the edge of the door. It retracts by closing the door, requiring no separate effort or manipulation for closing. The net is stored compactly on the reel when not being used. The net is easily removed from the hook by adults, but far less so by small children.
