Including Stripping Plate Patents (Class 164/188)
  • Patent number: 4699199
Abstract: A system for making foundry molds comprising the combination of a platen assembly including a platen having a top surface for supporting a mold pattern, and a ram for raising and lowering the platen in response to a controllable pressurized fluid; a mold flask supported above the platen so that upward movement of the platen positions the mold pattern thereon within the flask and closes the bottom of the flask so that the flask can be filled with sand; a sand hopper located adjacent the mold flask, and a sand magazine mounted for lateral movement between a retracted position below the sand hopper where the magazine can be loaded with sand from the hopper, and an advanced position above the mold flask for filling the cavity defined by the flask and the platen assembly with sand from the magazine; a squeeze head located adjacent the mold flask and mounted for lateral movement so that the squeeze head can be positioned over the mold flask, after the flask has been filled with sand and the sand magazine has been r

  • Patent number: 4657064
Abstract: The cope flask and drag platen of a matchplate molding machine are supported for up and down movement on vertical guide rails by sliding bearings or slippers located adjacent to corners of the flask and the platen. Each slipper includes a mounting block and a separate bearing pad connected to the mounting block by screws which may be independently adjusted to establish uniform face-to-face contact between the bearing pad and the rail. The screws also may be quickly released to enable removal and replacement of the bearing pad without disturbing the position of the mounting block.

  • Patent number: 4100961
Abstract: A foundry molding machine is disclosed wherein a core or mold is molded from moldable material such as sand in first and second mold boxes having a cavity. The cavity is filled with the sand and is then cured to form the mold. The first and second mold boxes are separated so that the mold remains in the first mold box with a downwardly facing cavity. Any of several means may be used to assure that the mold remains in this downwardly facing cavity. A transfer conveyor is then moved to a position closely beneath the mold. The first mold box is then moved upwardly as ejection means acts on the mold to eject it downwardly onto the closely spaced transfer conveyor. The transfer conveyor then moves out from underneath the first mold box to remove the completed mold and the cycle repeats.

  • Patent number: 4091858
Abstract: An apparatus is provided comprising two independent driving units: a main squeeze cylinder moving flask-and-pattern accessories to a squeeze board and an auxiliary actuating cylinder transferring the pattern along the line of molding. The auxiliary actuating cylinder is built into a pedestal mounted on the main squeeze cylinder piston rod and connected with the pattern by quick-release sectional lock-type clamping means of the hook-slot type enabling a shuttle mechanism carrying the flask-and-pattern accessories to be transferred from station to station. The pedestal is mounted at the compacting station so that is is capable of functioning as a sand jolting mechanism.

  • Patent number: 3967672
Abstract: In a machine for automatically producing flaskless foundry molds by a blow squeeze method between opposed power-operated pattern plates in an opening in a slider which then moves to displace the aperture to a position in which the mold can be ejected, the slider is replaced by two sliders moving in parallel paths on opposite sides of a fixed bolster plate so that two single-sided molds are produced back-to-back, one in each slider. These may be a cope and a drag and may then be assembled together in pairs. Each slider may have two apertures and the molds may be ejected alternately on opposite sides to produce two lines of alternate copes and drags.
