  • Patent number: 9022095
Abstract: A method of pulsed-air compacting of mold-sand in combination with compacting by compression supplements the pulsed-air compacting of the mold-sand by an operation of re-compacting the mold-sand by pressing which is performed with the pattern plate containing the patterns by the plate moving inside the cavity of the filling frame in the direction of the latticed pressing element which is subjected to a counter-pressure force corresponding in its value to the prescribed level of the half mold compaction. The method is realized with a device in which the pattern plate containing the patterns is mounted with the possibility of a reciprocal motion inside the cavity of the filling frame, and the pressing cylinder is mounted with the possibility to apply a force against the movable pattern plate.

  • Patent number: 6533022
Abstract: A conveyor for a molding machine and a molding machine incorporating the conveyor in which the portion of the conveyor and its driven rollers that run through the pouring station have been shortened such that the pallets extend over the conveyor to shield the conveyor and rollers from molten metal, and in which the rollers are slanted at an oblique angle relative to the intended path of the molds such that the driven rollers bias the pallets away from the pouring line to ensure that pallets carrying molds do not fall off the conveyor onto the pouring line.

  • Patent number: 6263952
Abstract: A mold handling system for transferring molds from multiple feed lines to a single main conveyor. The present invention provides an improved and simplified system for transferring molds from several mold making machines to a single conveyor leading to a pouring station. Through the use of a transfer conveyor with cantilevered arms which intersect with the feed lines and the main line, molds can be transferred from the transfer conveyor to the main line by raising and lowering the cantilevered arms. A simplified mechanism for raising and lowering the transfer conveyor is provided in the form of an air actuated bellows apparatus. In order to provide lateral support to the transfer conveyor, brackets flank the bellows that are provided with a predetermined amount of lateral play to provide both the lateral support to the transfer conveyor, as well as enable the transfer conveyor to be raised and lowered.

  • Patent number: 5957189
Abstract: A first quantity of all the molding sand necessary to produce a mold is fed in the mold space, the first quantity being one of at least two parts divided from the total molding sand. The mold space is evacuated and then air is introduced into the mold space at the air-pressure rising rate of 30--to 500 kg/cm.sup.2 /sec. Another quantity of the molding sand is fed into the mold space, the mold space is evacuated and then air is introduced into the mold space at the air-pressure rising rate of 30--to 500 kg/cm.sup.2 /sec. The apparatus includes a sand passage through which each quantity of sand is fed into the mold space, and a gate for closing the sand passage thereby closing the mold space to allow the mold space to be evacuated and then subjected to a pressure increase.

  • Patent number: 4357984
Abstract: A mold filling and compacting method includes forming a compact body of mold substance such as sand in an intermediate container and then abruptly opening the bottom closure of the container while releasing the sand, as a compact mass, so that it drops as a packet into the mold box, compacting itself effectively around a pattern arrangement. Specific techniques for releasing, including sudden lifting, sudden dropping and separating the container parts are disclosed as well as apparatus for performing the method.
