Patent number: 7011138Abstract: This invention relates to a mold rollover apparatus including a wheel member defining an axis and selectively rotatable about the axis and at least one carrier member carried by the wheel member and adapted to carry at least one mold member having a cast part disposed therein. The at least one carrier member is selectively rotatable at least from a first position, wherein the cast part is generally retained in the at least one mold member, to a second position, wherein the cast part is generally free to fall or drop from the at least one mold member. According to the present invention, the at least one carrier member is selectively rotatable about the axis at least from the first position to the second position independent of the rotation of the wheel member about the axis.Type: GrantFiled: December 30, 2003Date of Patent: March 14, 2006Assignee: Hayes Lemmerz International, Inc.Inventors: Kenneth D. Patent number: 6543518Abstract: The present invention relates to casting and more particularly to an improved apparatus and method of aluminum casting. The casting system 10 includes a furnace 12, a pump 14 and a mold 16. A semi-permanent mold cope 30 is mounted to the top of the mold 16 to quickly cool the adjacent portion of the casting 20. The semi-permanent mold cope 30 is movable with respect to the mold so that it can be moved between an open and closed position. The mold 16 can be brought to the semi-permanent mold cope 30 when the semi-permanent mold cope 30 is open and the semi-permanent mold cope 30 can then be closed onto the casting 20. The molten metal is then pumped into the mold 16 with the semi-permanent mold cope 30 in place. A laser 34 monitors the rate of mold fill by monitoring the fill rate of the riser 28.Type: GrantFiled: October 25, 2000Date of Patent: April 8, 2003Assignee: Tooling & Equipment InternationalInventors: Robert J. Patent number: 4905749Abstract: This invention relates to a die casting machine in which a plurality of mold opening and closing units each having a pair of metal molds are positioned in suitable positions in the outer periphery of a rotary table and the rotary table is intermittently rotated so as to stop the mold opening and closing units in positions in alignment with associated operation stations.Type: GrantFiled: August 7, 1989Date of Patent: March 6, 1990Assignee: Ube Industries, Ltd.Inventor: Takeshi Mihara

Patent number: 4754801Abstract: A die casting machine in which a rotary table, mounted with a plurality of die open and close units each holding a die, is sequentially brought into association with a plurality of work stations. The die is clamped in two steps, that is, a regular die clamping and a temporary die clamping. The regular die clamping is carried out by applying the regular clamping force required by a particular injection step. The temporary die clamping is carried out by applying a clamping force which is smaller than the regular clamping force. Consequently, this die casting machine can greatly reduce the time required for the casting cycle for each product, thus providing remarkably improved productivity. Preferably, a metal cooling apparatus suitable for a rotary die casting machine may be further provided.Type: GrantFiled: August 3, 1987Date of Patent: July 5, 1988Assignee: UBE Industries, Ltd.Inventors: Toyoaki Ueno, Takeshi Mihara, Kouji Kawabata

Patent number: 4431046Abstract: A low pressure casting process using a furnace of the channel-type induction for heating, the furnace power being automatically controlled by direct temperature measuring of the molten metal bath according to the desired casting temperature. The feeding chamber of the furnace is of pressure-type and has a protective gas with a slight over-pressure. The furnace is filled via a syphon-shaped feeding chamber whereby metal is inserted below the level of molten metal in the feeding chamber and the protective gas therein is not affected. An operator starts the casting process whereby a casting mold is closed and assumes a casting position over the casting nozzle from the furnace and metal is forced into the mold. The mold, one of several on a carousel is moved to a station wherein the casting is automatically discharged to a conveyor belt. The mold next moves to an immersion bath where it is treated, and then to a preparation station wherein it may be cleaned and cores inserted.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 1980Date of Patent: February 14, 1984Assignee: Russ-Elektroofen Produktiongsgesellschaft mbH & Co.Inventor: Gunter Phillips

Patent number: 4113001Abstract: Moulding apparatus comprises a mould box support structure having spaced support members for receiving and supporting lug members formed at opposite ends of a mould box. The mould box is formed in two separable parts each incorporating at opposite ends thereof a lug member having a substantially semi-circular outside profile so that when the mould box parts are abutted the lug members of one box part register with the lug members of the other box part to provide a substantially circular surface which acts as a bearing for the mould box so that the box can be rotated on the support structure for convenience of handling. In one form the mould box is for use with the V-Process of moulding and suction is applied to the chambers within the walls of the mould box parts via conduits extending through the lug members of respective box parts. In one form the support structure includes a circular table which is indexed so that a mould box is sequentially processed through several processing stations.Type: GrantFiled: November 22, 1976Date of Patent: September 12, 1978Inventor: John Workman
