  • Patent number: 11873690
Abstract: Downhole tractor control systems and methods to maintain a load of a downhole tractor are disclosed. A method to maintain a load of a downhole tractor includes identifying a reduction of power of a first set of motors of a plurality of motors of the downhole tractor, determining whether the reduction of power of the first set of motors is below a first threshold, and increasing, in response to the determination, a first power limit of a second set of motors of the plurality of motors to a maximum acceptable power limit of the second set of motors while maintaining the load of the downhole tractor.

  • Patent number: 11725462
Abstract: Electrical wet connection (EWC) with multiple power and communication lines for connecting Logging While Drilling tools (LWD) and/or Measurement While Drilling tools (MWD) is described. The contacts between the modules may be made by, for example, using pressure bulkheads to ensure protection of the tools if the pressure protection is reduced or lost. The contacts may be locked together in a convenient manner to eliminate downhole vibrations and/or shocks. The may make the signal transmission quality approaching, as good as, or even better than wireline tools. The connection may be sealed from the well muds under high pressure and this protection may be enhanced such as by doubling or even tripling for extreme reliability in difficult environments. The designs described herein may advantageously allow for a large amount in collar lengths to be compensated and/or provide two degrees of freedom-rotational and/or may be longitudinal for ready connection on the well site.

  • Patent number: 11634976
Abstract: A deployment system as a rig less docking station with an inline male wet mate-able connectors and power cable and a motor connector with inline female wet mate-able connectors coupled to an electric submersible pump (ESP), the docking station is at the bottom of a string of production tubing and remains in the well for the life of the system while the motor connector is mated to an ESP and lowered into the well by wireline or other suitable deployment method. The rig less deployment system has a lower initial cost, larger through-bore, improved debris tolerance, and the ability for pump-assisted installation and retrieval techniques. Both the moveable female and the static male connector are pressure balanced for temperature and volume variation and the male connector utilizes a heavy dielectric fluid in a reverse labyrinth design to isolate borehole fluid from the electrical connection.

Abstract: A joint for disposing between a rotatable drum and stationary surface equipment. The joint serves as a channel through which optical data from a well access line may be routed through the rotating drum and to the stationary equipment for processing. The optical data may be routed in a manner that allows for multi-fiber transmissions with one fiber dedicated to uphole transmissions and another dedicated to downhole transmissions. This is achieved through embodiments of the joint in spite of the separate optical channels involved sharing the same central axis to allow for data transfer between moving and stationary joint components.

Abstract: Systems, program product, and methods for monitoring linearity of a down-hole pumping system assembly during deployment within a bore of a casing of a well positioned to extract hydrocarbons from a subterranean reservoir and selecting an optimal operational position for the down-hole pumping system assembly within the bore of the casing, are provided. Various embodiments of the systems allow an operator to ensure that a motor and pump of a down-hole pumping system assembly are installed in an optimal position in a well by ensuring alignment across the pump stages casing and motor casing. The alignment and linearity of the pump and motor can be crucial to run life of the pump and/or motor.
