An upper and lower seal assembly seal the annular space between the central bore and the upper and lower tubular shaft, respectively to define a purge chamber. The purge chamber is in fluid communication with the central bore via the lower tubular shaft, and may be provided with valved ports. The housing may be constructed in removably mounted upper and lower portions, to which the upper and lower sealed bearing assemblies, respectively, and upper and lower seal assemblies, respectively, are mounted.

    Abstract: The pipe wiper assembly of the present invention assists with wiping the pipe as the pipe is removed from the hole (“tripped out”). The pipe passes through the two pipe apertures of the pipe wiper assembly during the removal. Two upper containment arms adjust between an open position and a closed position within the housing to form the upper pipe aperture. The lower containment lip forms the lower piper aperture. The upper containment arms and lower containment lip partially enclose the housing to prevent the wiper from exiting the wiper storage. The containment arms slideably adjust to eliminate the need for hinges. The removal of the hinges provides for easier storage and transportation of the pipe wiper assembly. The removal of hinges also reduces manufacturing costs of the pipe wiper assembly.

    Abstract: The dual stripper device of the invention has a hollow body formed for coaxial connection to the wellhead which provides for unobstructed passage of a slick cable, such as a data transmitting cable which transmits data in real time to the well surface. Disposed coaxially within the hollow body is a resilient wiper element with an internal bore formed along its longitudinal axis for passage of the slick cable. A hydraulically actuated piston applies a compressive force to the wiper element so that a pressure seal is formed between the wiper element and the cable when the wiper element is sufficiently compressed by the piston. The seal can be maintained during dynamic movement of the slick cable through the wiper element. A mirror image backup wiper assembly can be actuated in the case of failure of the first wiper assembly.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a stuffing box consists of an outer housing, an upper set and a lower set of support plates for a sleeve-shaped, flexible sealing element enclosed by a liquid filled, pressurised annulus The sets of support plates in the top and bottom of the housing respectively have an opening in the middle, exceeding the diameter of the tool joint.     Abstract: A system and method are provided for a low profile rotating control device (LP-RCD) and its housing mounted on or integral with an annular blowout preventer seal, casing, or other housing. The outer diameter of the lateral outlet flange may be substantially the same as the height of the LP-RCD housing and bearing assembly after the bearing assembly is positioned with the LP-RCD housing. The sealing element may be aligned with the lateral outlet, and may be replaced from above. Different embodiments of attachment members for attaching the LP-RCD housing with a lower housing allow the LP-RCD housing to be rotated to align the lateral outlet with the drilling rig's existing line to mud pits or other locations. In one embodiment, the LP-RCD bearings are positioned radially inside the LP-RCD housing. In another embodiment, the LP-RCD bearings are positioned radially outside the LP-RCD housing. One embodiment allows rotation of the inserted tubular about multiple planes.
