Upon Breaking Internal Container Patents (Class 169/83)
  • Patent number: 8757282
Abstract: Improvements to a portable fire extinguisher are disclosed. The improvements allow for frequent and simpler untrained and automatic self-servicing of a fire extinguisher. The improvements include an anti-bridging mechanism that can be articulated from the exterior of the chamber to fluff, mix or stir the powder within the chamber to keep it in a liquefied state. Additional improvements include a larger opening to more quickly fill and inspect the powder within the chamber. Another improvement includes the use of a CO2 canister located external to the chamber to allow easier servicing or replacement of just the CO2 canister as well as the ability to maintain the chamber in an un-pressurized condition, allows for non-HASMAT shipping. These features will extend the service intervals while maintaining the fire extinguisher in a ready condition.

  • Patent number: 4979638
Abstract: An aerosol dispenser having a transparent container for storing a propellant and a first compound under pressure. An actuator button normally closes a valve mounted on top of the container to control the dispensing of the materials from the container. An ampule containing a second material separate from the first material until the ampule is broken is positioned generally along the bottom of the container with a saddle shaped foot. A push rod extends from the valve and holds the foot in engagement with the ampule and breaks the ampule when the valve is first moved to its open position. The materials are mixed within the container and are dispensed through a filter mounted on a dip tube leading to the valve.

  • Patent number: 4972910
Abstract: The extinguishing apparatus of this invention comprises a cartridge casing provided with a jet nozzle device, a flexible extinguishing liquid cartridge which is coupled in plug-in manner to the jet nozzle device by inserting from the open end of the cartridge casing into the interior of the casing, a cap for closing the open end of the casing, a joint for coupling the interior and exterior of the cartridge casing, and a discharge unit for coupling by plug-in manner to the joint. The cartridge is made possigle to discharge the extinguishing material, when it is compressed by a force from the outside, and the discharge unit feeds incombustible high pressure gas into the cartridge casing either automatically when the temperature of environment is reached over a predetermined temperature, or by handling manually. Aaccording to this, the cartridge is compressed, the extinguishing material discharged from the cartridge is jetted from the jet nozzle device.

  • Patent number: 4893730
Abstract: An aerosol dispenser has a container with a deformable side wall and an internal chamber storing a propellant and a component to be sprayed through a discharge nozzle. A control valve mounted on the top of the container regulates the flow of fluid through the nozzle. A frangible ampule storing a second component is retained in the chamber adjacent a portion of the side wall. The ampule can be broken with a lever mounted on the outside of the container in alignment with the ampule. The lever is manually moved to deform the side wall and break the ampule so that the component in the ampule is mixed with the fluid in the chamber.
