  • Patent number: 7188680
Abstract: An agricultural implement includes a pivoting assembly, a working assembly, and a tow bar assembly. The working assembly includes a front gang of coulters and a rear gang of coulters. The pivoting assembly includes a hydraulic cylinder. The hydraulic cylinder is adjusted between an extended orientation, a retracted orientation, a floating orientation, and a level orientation. The extended orientation places a greater portion of the weight of the working assembly on the rear gang of coulters. The retracted orientation places a greater portion of the weight of the working assembly on the front gang of coulters. The level orientation locks the hydraulic cylinder so that an equal portion of the weight of the working assembly is placed on the rear and the front gang of coulters. The floating orientation allows the front and the rear gang of coulters to follow the terrain of the land being conditioned.

  • Patent number: 5890546
Abstract: A tractor drawn scraper apparatus with folding wings includes a main frame with a main blade assembly depending therefrom and wing frames with wing blade assemblies depending therefrom. The wing frames are pivotally connected to laterally opposite ends of the main frame and are pivoted by the action of hydraulic cylinders connected between the main frame and the wing frames respectively. The wing frames are lowered for soil engagement and raised for transport. A wheel frame includes a wheel frame axle pivotally connected to the main frame by way of the main blade assembly and having a pair of radial wheel support arms with ground engaging wheels journaled thereon. A pair of wheel frame cylinders engaged between the main frame and the wheel support arms are activated to raise the wheels for soil engagement by the blade assemblies and to lower the wheels for transport. A tongue assembly extends forwardly from the main frame for hitching to a tractor to draw the blade assemblies over a soil surface.

  • Patent number: 5573072
Abstract: An apparatus for adjusting the operating position of a cultivator tool includes a tool bar with a frame secured thereto, a tool arm pivotally mounting the cultivator tool on the frame, a bracket having a plurality of holes therein mounted on the frame, and a tiltable lever arm mechanism pivotally mounted on the frame. The latter includes a lever having a first end portion constituting a handle, a second end portion, and a detent pin adapted to engage the holes in the bracket. A spring assembly yieldingly urges or tilts the bracket and lever together so the pin normally engages one of the holes. A handle extension can be installed to apply additional leverage, if needed. When the second end portion is connected to the frame by torsional spring, the downpressure exerted on an implement mounted on the frame can be varied. In another embodiment, a linkage bar pivotally connects the second end portion of the lever with the tool arm and allows the apparatus to raise and lower the tool.

  • Patent number: 5427184
Abstract: A depth control includes an actuator tube connected for movement with the rockshaft and having a threaded crank supported on the forward end of the tube. A valve operator bracket is slidably and nonrotatably received over the tube and includes a threaded portion engaging the crank threads to positively locate the bracket relative to the tube. The bracket carries a plunger which, as the rockshaft lowers the implement to the working position, is moved into contact with a valve actuator to close a valve and prevent further lowering of the implement. One turn of the crank gives the same positive movement along the tube each time the depth setting is adjusted so that working depth can be set very accurately and easily.

  • Patent number: 5398768
Abstract: An aerator includes a frame supported on a pair of forward drive wheels and a pair of rearward caster wheels. An aerator head is mounted on a pivot frame on the forward end of the aerator frame, pivotable to move the aerator head from a disengaged position above the ground, downwardly to an engaged position wherein tines on the aerator head work the soil. The pivot frame includes a forwardly projecting arm upon which the aerator head is mounted, and a rearwardly projecting arm upon which the forward wheels of the frame are mounted, such that movement of the pivot frame will engage either the forward wheels of the frame or the aerator head with the ground. The aerator head is mounted forwardly of the forward end of the frame such that the tines on the aerator head form the forward most part of the aerator.

  • Patent number: 4699219
Abstract: The support wheels and drag stake of a motor driven cultivating device are connected to the main frame of the device by independent mounting brackets at a location rearward of the tines. The support wheels and drag bar are interconnected by a sliding collar-bar which is rigidly attached to the axle of the wheels, thereby allowing for the simultaneous pivoting of drag stake and support wheels between a forward transport position, wherein the drag stake is in an inactive elevated position, and a rearward working position, wherein the drag stake is disposed at an angle off of the vertical for engaging the earth and retarding the forward progress of the device.

  • Patent number: 4311104
Abstract: A press grain drill includes a plurality of opener units mounted on an elongated tow tube and including a plurality of elongated, pivotably coupled elements forming a pair of parallelograms which support a self-penetrating shovel and a press wheel respectively. A first one of the parallelograms permits up and down movement of the shovel relative to the tow tube while maintaining the pitch of the shovel relative to the ground substantially constant. A second one of the parallelograms responds to each movement of the shovel to move the press wheel in the same direction and relative to the shovel so as to maintain the depth of the shovel within the ground substantially constant. Whenever the tow tube which is coupled by pairs of parallel links to an elongated main frame tool bar is raised relative to the tool bar for towing, a lift tube coupled to the links via bracket numbers engages the opener units to lift them relative to the tow tube.

  • Patent number: 4269273
Abstract: Land surfacing apparatus, comprising an elongate blade and a towing structure which includes a tow connection portion forward of the blade and which is connected to the blade so that the blade can be towed with its longitudinal dimension transverse to the tow direction while biased by its own weight into engagement with the ground with a longitudinal edge thereof serving as a soil cutting edge and a leading face extending upwardly from the cutting edge. The connection of the tow structure to the blade permits adjustment of the blade through a range of forwardly leaning orientations at which it extends both upwardly as well as forwardly in the tow direction from said cutting edge. The blade is carried by an elongated hollow triangular structure which carries ground wheels mounted on supports extending toward the towing structure, and inboard of opposite ends of the blade.

  • Patent number: 4117893
Abstract: An agricultural tool bar includes a main frame adapted to be drawn by a traction vehicle. First and second tool support beams are pivotally mounted to the main frame. The tool support beams are adapted for movement between a use position and a road travel position. In the use position, the axes of the tool support beams are collinear and extend transverse of the direction of travel of the vehicle, and in the travel position, they are folded rearwardly. An articulated link is provided for each tool support bar, selectively holding it either in the use position or the folded position. The main frame and tool support beams may be raised relative to the ground so that the tool support bars do not have to be rotated about horizontal axes prior to folding.
