Tandem Gangs Patents (Class 172/441)
  • Patent number: 10588253
Abstract: A tillage implement has a main frame towed in a forward working direction and toolbar assemblies supported on the main frame. Each assembly has an elongate toolbar member transverse to the forward working direction with tillage units spaced along the toolbar member for working the ground. A pivot supports each toolbar at an intermediate location on the toolbar for angular adjustment about an upright axis relative to the main frame. Followers at opposing ends of each toolbar member are received in respective guides at fixed locations on the main frame such that the followers are slidable within the guides in the forward working direction while restricting rotation of the toolbar member about a longitudinal axis of the toolbar member relative to the main frame. Angular position of each toolbar is controlled by an actuator with an attached mechanical indicator that can be read by an operator.

  • Patent number: 9826671
Abstract: A tillage implement includes a main frame with adjustable toolbar sections thereon which each support respective tillage units thereon for engaging the ground. Each toolbar section has a first end portion coupled to the main frame by a first mounting assembly and an opposing second end portion which is coupled to the main frame by a second mounting assembly. Each one of the first and second mounting assemblies comprises a track and each of the first and second end portions of each toolbar section comprise a follower in mating engagement with the corresponding tracks. The track of the first mounting assembly is oriented closer to the lateral direction than the track of the second mounting assembly such that each toolbar section is pivotal about a respective upright axis generally at the first end portion when the toolbar section is displaced in the forward working direction at the second end portion.

  • Patent number: 9497897
Abstract: An agricultural implement (10) has front and rear gangs (12, 13) of rotatable tillage tools arranged to follow each other along a line of travel. The front and rear gangs (12, 13) are mounted to a main frame (21F), which is mechanically linked to a hitch frame (22) by a self-leveling linkage system (32, 33). The linkage system (32, 33) includes a spring assembly (48) arranged to allow relative movement between the hitch frame (22) and the main frame (21F) when the implement (10) is in a lowered field working position. The linkage system (32, 33) has a pivoting cam (41) for changing the field working preload of the spring assembly (48) to provide multiple hitch operation modes. The linkage system (32, 33) is arranged to make the main frame (21F) level and the hitch frame (22) rigid relative to the main frame (21F) when the implement (10) is in a raised position.

  • Patent number: 4501333
Abstract: Disclosed is an agricultural implement for cultivating about trees and vines. The implement includes a frame that mounts four gangs of disc blades, two forward and two aft. The disc blade gangs are relatively movable to set up a variety of discing patterns and the gang can be so mounted on the frame that the lateral extensions of the frame do not extend above the height of the disc blades.

  • Patent number: 4291770
Abstract: A disc apparatus for forming levees used in rice farming and the like. The disc apparatus includes a longitudinal frame member onto which a pair of cross frame members are pivotally attached. A set of disc blades consisting of a plurality of disc blade members are attached to the opposite ends of each cross frame member. Each disc blade member of a set are of varying outside diameters with the disc blade member having the largest outside diameter located closest to the longitudinal frame member and with the size of each adjacent disc blade member uniformly decreasing so that the disc blade member having the smallest outside diameter will be located farthest from the longitudinal frame member. Each set of disc blade members can be adjusted so that the lowermost portion of each blade member thereof is level with the lowermost portion of each of the other blade members of that set.

  • Patent number: 4271912
Abstract: An improved disc harrow (10) for cutting and leveling soil comprises a rigid frame (14) having a front pair of gang assemblies (36, 38) and a rear pair of gang assemblies (62, 64) secured thereto. The disc gang assemblies (36, 38, 62 and 64) are arranged in double-offset relationship. The forward pair of disc gang assemblies (36, 38) extend laterally outward from points located on opposite sides of a longitudinal line to effect harrowing across the entire width of the invention without leaving an uncut balk.
