Staggered Patents (Class 172/688)
  • Patent number: 5474135
Abstract: A tillage implement for preparing seed beds for planting seeds for row crops. The implement includes deep tillage units for loosening soil behind the wheels of a tractor, additional deep tillage units for loosening soil in the areas where seed beds are located, seed bed shaping units, and ribbed wheels for providing guide tracks in the soil for use in aligning a planter with the seed beds.

  • Patent number: 5224553
Abstract: An improvement for no-till rotary hoes to prevent trash from accumulating around a bearing of the rotary hoes thus destroying the bearing. An elongated axle mounts a hoe wheel distant from its corresponding support arm and in close proximity to an adjacent support arm, and the axle is protected by a spring-loaded protective sleeve which is spring loaded to provide a frictional seal against the bearing of the hoe wheel.

  • Patent number: 5190112
Abstract: A rotary hoe extension and kit for extending the effective length of one set of arms of a rotary hoe to increase the separation of the axes of rotation of adjacent rows of hoe wheels to a distance greater than the diameter of the hoe wheel while maintaining lateral wheel spacing. The extension includes a body member, having an upper end or first portion including a U-shaped alignment member which surrounds the existing rotary hoe arm on three sides to provide a rigid unit and a lower end or second portion having an aperture therethrough for attachment of a hoe wheel thereto. The lower end of the arm and lower end of the extension are in alignment with each other thereby allowing for maintenance of the lateral wheel spacing. A connector arrangement is provided to secure the extension to the support arm.

  • Patent number: 4558746
Abstract: A lawn working implement having rigid teeth which is towed behind a small tractor or other such apparatus to thatch, sow or work a lawn. The implement is compact and highly maneuverable, yet applies pressure to its rigid tines to work the lawn effectively and efficiently. Swivel mounted wheels allow the implement to follow the tractor directly in its path so that confined areas of yards may be reached. The height of the tines above ground may be adjusted by varying the setting at which the wheels are attached to the frame, and their pressure against the ground may be adjusted by adding bricks, cement or other heavy material to a cavity in the implement. The implement has a hitch for attaching a sweeper or lawn vacuum to be towed behind it.

  • Patent number: 4520877
Abstract: A cultivator designed to dig up weeds from between rows of crop. The structure of the cultivator is unified with a laterally extended front bar that carries digging tines that dig up weeds along each side of the row of crop of a number of rows at one time. A rear bar is spaced from and in parallel relationship with the front bar and carries digging tines that dig up weeds down the center of the rows. The structure is mounted to a tractor, and depth controlling wheels, supported on the ground during operation, determine in part the depth of penetration of the tines into the ground.

  • Patent number: 4425723
Abstract: A shellfish dredge includes a pair of longitudinally extending parallel and spaced apart runners having a collecting bag mounted adjacent the rear thereof. The runners support a frame comprising a pair of longitudinally extending spaced apart skids and at least two crossbars connecting the skids together. Secured to each crossbar and extending forwardly and downwardly therefrom at an acute angle are a plurality of tines thereby forming at least two parallel rows of parallel arranged tines. The skids extend downwardly beneath the bottom of the runners and are tapered at their forward ends so that the frame and tines will be cammed upwardly should the skids encounter an obstruction. Springs located between the runners and the skids bias the skids downwardly but allow for limited vertical movement between the runners and the skids.

  • Patent number: 4336844
Abstract: There is disclosed a farm implement having a frame connectible to a tractor by means of a three-point hitch to permit it to be moved forwardly over the ground level, a first set of chisels supported on the frame in laterally spaced-apart relation, a second set of chisels supported on the frame rearwardly of the first set and laterally intermediate laterally adjacent chisels of the first set, and a lister mounted on each chisel of the second set with its lower edge above the lower edge of the chisel of the second set. In use of the implement, the first set of chisels form longitudinally extending trenches in the ground, and the listers mounted on the chisels of the second set turn the soil toward the trenches in order to build beds thereover.

  • Patent number: 4308920
Abstract: A ground working implement including a frame having a plurality of rows of elements, each element holding a plurality of individual ground working tools extending downwardly. The implement comprises wheels which are used for transporting the ground working assembly which are pivotally connected to the frame and engage the ground midway between the forward and rear portions of the frame so that a tire track is never left in the ground when the implement is operating even if the wheels are touching the ground since ground working tools are positioned behind the tires as well as in front thereof. There is a tongue, adjustable in height, adaptable for connection to a tractor or other suitable motive power, and a selectively reciprocal power source, such as a hydraulic cylinder, for raising and lowering the ground working framework.

  • Patent number: 4204579
Abstract: A cultivator has a frame normally carried on the back of a tractor and pulled in a predetermined direction along the ground. A plurality of tines extend downwardly from this cultivator and penetrate the ground. Each tine is pivotal about a respective axis perpendicular to the direction of travel and parallel to the ground and is biased into a normal central position by means of a respective hydraulic actuator. The cylinders of all of the hydraulic actuators are connected together in a closed network so that if one tine is forced backwardly the other tines will be urged correspondingly forwardly and vice versa. In addition each such tine, which also may be mounted on a parallelogrammatic linkage, may carry a V-shaped backwardly extending blade increasing the mixing and aeration effect of the cultivator.

  • Patent number: 4113029
Abstract: Tool bars carrying plows are removably attached to a farm tractor by two or more rearwardly extending support arms. The support arms are attached to a frame connected to the standard three point power lift attachment of the farm tractor. The tool bars slide into C-shaped receiving portions of the support arm and are held in place by a lock member contacting the front of the tool bar.

  • Patent number: 4082149
Abstract: A cultivating machine having a body, at least one wheel supporting the body during normal use, and one or more soil-working blades. The blade(s) may be either serrated or generally V-shaped so that it can penetrate the soil and loosen it. The blade(s) is preferably rounded, so that it loosens the soil and pulls weeds out by the roots rather than cutting the tops of the weeds off and leaving the bottoms of the weeds in the ground to regrow, and the blade or at least one of the blades preferably projects laterally beyond the body of the cultivator on at least one side so that the cultivator may be used to loosen the soil and to pull out weeds underneath overhanging leaves of desirable plants without damaging the desirable plants by contact with moving parts of the cultivator. A motor may be mounted on the body and operatively connected to either or both of the wheel and the blades.
